@OP, some guys are just naturally polite and would thank anyone who obliges their desires, regardless of gender. What you saw there was just all the thanks accumulated on one wall which looked odd.

Life is too short men to be dwelling on thanks or no thanks.

Judging from what I see everyday, it's all not being polite. I think it's an esteem issue. Ignorance sef.

You sent a friend request. It is an appeal to which someone has obliged. It is only rational, a matter of courtsy n gratitude to show appreciation. It is not a big deal to say thank you. It doesn't in any way diminish your self esteem. Let us not make a fuss out of nothing. This is a matter of personality difference.
