What else would one expect to read from an Ijeoma Ozichi Omotade? She is married to a Yoruba and would want to pacify them by sounding like mother Theresa. Imagine if Chidinma the popular artiste who speaks impeccable Yoruba but I am sure cannot say bia does a write-up about the case in point. Are you going to be amiss as to who her sentiments would favour? I am sure Ozichi cannot say bia because she does not know it. All those wayward Imo people that travel and do not return home why would they not have started reasoning and behaving like the Yorubas already? We Igbos call them 'ala bu otu' meaning that the whole earth is one and that where ever you are is as good as anywhere else so there is no need to bother about ancestral homes. Lagos is a no-man's land just like Abuja. If the aboriginal Lagosians did not get properly compensated by the federal government they should request for it the way the Ggagyis, the aboriginal owners of Abuja are currently doing and stop disturbing the indigenous Lagos-Igbos.

When You Are Blinded By The Enemy In A War, You Start To Kill Your Own People and Then The Essence Of The War Is Lost along Side The Battle.

I agree with Ijeoma's statement. Let us let peace reign in Nigeria. This tribal clashes will lead us to nowhere but the grave.

My igbo brothers, ignore the rantings of a few yorubastards who are spoiling for a fight when they have never seen blood spilled before in their lives except in hollywood movies. I have many yoruba friends who love the state of peace as much as I love it. They are the true yorubas; the true sons of the soil.

M17 my brother, I am angry with the state of things as much as you are but let bygone be bygone. We will never forget the Oba's words but we will continue to coexist in peace and harmony with them(it is entirely up to them yorubastards).

Funniest part is when the thunder strikes, the rain will wash away even the rain maker.

To yorubastards out there, igbos never ever initiate any clashes but they never turn their backs on any fight. Stop hiding behind internet singing warsongs. Come to the open; be a man or be a coward whose war is only fought with blackberry and iphones gotten from igbos.

I sing peace. Igbos and the sensible yorubas can live in harmony. It is a choice.

That is how another one said that Onitsha market is so big the US army buys drones there.Yet another said Orji Kalu is so rich he banks with the World Bank as our Central Bank cannot cope with his money. So no surprise Eboes have awarded her a Nobel Prize whether we like it or not

Nice one my sister. You are deep. Waaaaay deeper than Chimamanda sef.

I had this discussion with someone on my way to work today but hey, you have put it in proper perspective.

Im not Yoruba but you know I think people have over exagerrated this issue and acted like there is no human angle to the story. The Oba or Obi or Emir of a land is also human and is fallible. Many of us that are not from Lagos have taken the acceptance and the general freedom we have to live and stay in Lagos for granted. But we need to give kudos to the Lagosians because if they want to be nuisances to us they can. It is not fair to call someone else's home no man's land.
But it good to call crude oil a national cake. Which way Nigerians?

Igbo people are relatively peaceful. They rarely start any trouble.

Visit places like Benue and Plateau and they'll tell you the REAL trouble maker s in Nigeria. Has an Igbo man ever killed multiple Yoruba in Lagos because he was denied accommodation?

At least every 2 days people are attacked in their homes by Fulani herdsmen for fickle things like missing cows. Even in my school here in Abuja, those people enter the female hostels to r-ape girls. Has such ever happened in Unilag?

I repeat, you all have NO idea how good you have it in Lagos.
And do u care to know the reason why Fulanis attack those people? Please tell me something else...

Was the capital of southern protectorate, just like Lokoja was for the northern protectorate.

They are former capitals in their own right, because the amalgamation of the 2 protectorates formed what is called Nigeria.

Personally I’m deeply hurt hearing some Yoruba leaders telling my people that we should be “grateful” living in Lagos; that is utterly unfair, point blank. Any Yoruba person saying that is very shallow minded. We Igbos work HARD for our living, and add IMMENSELY to the growth and development of the city.

That's the summary. The rebuttal by Ijeoma was unnesssary. Chimamanda's main message is the same as what I quoted.

Ozichi, I must commend your writing skill which I think is the main reason for your article since I can't find what you have really said differently.
Chimamanda has made her points and no matter the angle from which you look at it, the Oba as a royal father should be mindful of his statements. All it would have taken would have simply been, " Igbos, you are all my children and I am so sorry that you misunderstood me". This would have been better than using Publicity to insult the intelligence of the Igbos and even using groups like OPC and others to threaten them.
Ozichi, no one likes riots and wars BUT NO ONE WILL LIKE TO BE A THREATENED STRANGER IN HIS OWN COUNTRY.
Enough is indeed enough.

Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians and therefore Lagos is for all Nigerians just as Onitsha is for all Nigerians. I agree with this article, same way I agreed with that of Chimamanda's.

As an Igbo man, no matter how "cosmopliticized" any Igbo state becomes tomorrow, calling it a no-man's-land will irk me. It's insultive. The land wasn't bare before non-indigenes came there, so no one has any right to call it a no-man's-land. Any Yoruba getting angry because of tha word is right to be angry. That said, I don't believe the average Igbo man sees Lagos as a no-man's-land, just the few disgruntled elements I see on Nairaland. When I see the Yorubas getting angry over it, I do ask myself, how those few monikers, who might not even be Igbos, get them to believe ALL Igbos think such way?

I've never met any Igbo person offline that called Lagos such name. And I also don't support the idea that some Yorubas say, that non-indigenes should be "grateful" to them for allowing them in their lands. That's bullshít. They pay taxes, they're law-abiding, and most importantly, they're Nigerians; so why should a Nigerian be grateful for living in Nigeria.

Corruption is not the greatest enemy we should defeat; Tribalism is. It's eroded every logical reasoning in Nigerians.
