Playing smart by halves! Your fight was with the north but you need to secure yorubaland from the Northerners. Do you guys even listen to your mo.ronic selves? Somehow, I really don't think so.
So, that was why Ojukwu was dropping bombs on Lagos hoping to kill who exactly? Not the ibos as they have all ran back to Biafra whilst the Northerners have evacuated their families back to their region leaving just their soldiers.

The war was being planned on Yorubaland, you have to understand that as well. I repeat, the Biafran push towards Lagos was not an attack against the Yoruba but to capture the city from Northern troops and thereafter push towards the north.

The Biafran soldiers moved towards the West because Lagos was Nigeria's capital and the war was being planned and prosecuted from there. The aim was to capture Lagos from the Northerners and secure the state thereafter launch an offensive up north.

It was not about annexing Lagos or the West like most Yorubas think today.

This was Ojukwu's greatest mistake.
War isn't really about fighting. It's all about manoeuvring and positioning. When did Ojukwu realize he needed to come to Lagos? Why didn't he first secure an alliance with the people whose land you would traverse en route to Lagos. If he had done that he would have gotten to Lagos without firing a bullet. In stead, he was stopped by a company of infantry men at Ore!

War is won or lost before it starts. A great general only thinks about battles after victory has been secured!

What you are saying makes no sense. It is even said that Nigeria suffered heavier military losses than Biafra despite the fact that your side was heavily armed by Britain & Russia. Most of our civilians died from hunger and diseases.

I advise you not to pray or wish for an Igbo-Yoruba war because you might end up as a refugee in Cotonou.

Yeah, the war was being planned in lagos which just happens to be in yorubaland BUT by northerners, your so-called enemy. It was the northerners who were slaughtering your people in the north which made you start going back to your new but short-lived nation-biafra. we had our own grouse with the northerners too and were dealing with it our own way, taking full cognisance of the reality on the ground. However ojukwu deemed it necessary to fight his enemy on yorubaland.

Oh, so biafran's push towards lagos wasn't an attack on the yorubas but ojukwu just wanted to capture the city........like he did the Mid-west region and impose his rule on them? Like we were going to fall for that lame excuse.

Ojukwu's enemy was the north but he needed to capture other regions first before finally developing the liver to confront his main enemy shocked You ought to listen to what you write sometimes and maybe then you will realise how d.aft it actually is. You need to fight your enemy on another man's land!!!

Why do you think the Allied forces were so much interested in capturing Berlin during WW2? It was because it was the German capital and the seat of power from where the German's were planning the war. Same thing happened during the Biafran war, Ojukwu wanted to capture the Nigerian capital which was Lagos at that time not because he wanted to attack Yorubas. If he had captured Lagos, the morale of the north would have been greatly weakened such that the Biafran soldiers could easily make a final push up north and force the northern troops to flee into Niger Republic and Chad.

For the bold part, even the Yoruba man that wrote this article said that the Biafran forces never knew their number or had an idea otherwise they would have pushed beyond that bridge and I tell you all of those 179 soldiers at ore would have been killed. That would have made an easy drive towards Lagos; what an error from the Biafran side! They thought beyond that bridge was heavily fortified.

I'be been reading your posts on this thread and like T9ksy said, do you folks even listen to yourselves at all?

In war, are both sides supposed to announce the numbers they have at war front? Trouncing the baifra troops with leas than 200 soldiers means one army is superior to the other because if the baifra troops had lets say times 5 of the Ore army, then it would mean maximum firepower yet they got crushed.

This is also applicable to your usual 'if we had half of the weapon you had' rant. The Ore army had lesser weapons and still defeated the Biafra troops likewise how you were able to record some little victories with lesser weapons during the course of the war.

After deployment of troops, I rose up from my trench at about 12 midnight, it started to rain heavily, but I told the troops not to leave their trenches. So, we dug in. Then, when I saw the skyline of the vehicles of the Biafran soldiers coming towards us, I shouted that no one should fire except me. And the battle started minutes past midnight. But the bridge was so heavy that they could not penetrate. If they had known that we had a small number, maybe they could have made the effort to penetrate. So we confused them, the place was well secured and we never lost any soldier.

There was no real fight at Ore, recall that Banjo the Yoruba man withdraw and handed over miles of captured territory to Nigeria without a fight!

At the bold part what does he mean by the bridge being so heavy? Notice that he said they confused the advancing Biafran soldiers. What I understand from here is that there was no major confrontation at that bridge; you can see that he said no soldier died.

This was just a mistake on the Biafran side, if they had moved beyond the said bridge they would have killed all those 179 soldiers there. Besides, we don't know exactly how many Biafran soldiers were involved in that operation. Biafra was fighting at different fronts with the big Nigeria.

important findings i ve made about the igbos is that they are never factual, logical, not reasonable enough in decision making, also always rude, crude, arrogant and boastful......especially the ones that refused to travel out of their land, though there some nice ones among thm,but the truth is that they are very few.......a sayind said an empty barrel sound the most.u called a tribe a coward but he chased out ur hero away from his ancestral land to become a stranger,u developed someones land buy u live in the dungeon/cave,u re the richest but forbe other tribes are far listed ahead of you on forbe list year in,year out,the bravest but unable to product a noble laureat, most populous tribe in nigeria but the combination of the 5 eastern states is not upto oyo state not to talk of kano, niger or bauchi, the strongest army in africa but have not won a single war and othe false claim which are just mere illusion.......the generality of that tribe need proper re-orientation of mindset so that they can face the reality of life.......it is a fact that for a greater nigeria,we need one another but to achieve that we must see ourselves as equal and one,and no tribe is inferior to the other but if this cannot be i achieve,i believe we should just break up and everyone answers his father's name.

The truth is that he did not which is a major reason also why we lost that war. We have noted all these mistakes and I can bet you that Nigeria will not survive another war (I am not calling for war here please).

I just want to clear the air about this allegation of Ojukwu wanting to annex Lagos and other people's lands. be frank with yourself too, was it wrong to make a push towards the enemies capital?
