Bollinger:/ Yes! 50million people with my mentality will force MTN to stop ripping off customers. It will force banks to stop outrageous deductions from people's accounts. Heck! It will make PHCN to bill consumers for services delivered only. And while at it, airlines will be forced to keep to their own part of the contract while employers will pay workers their salaries when due. What you are advocating has been done for years and didn't work. Only a fool will keep making the same mistake over and over, and expect different outcome. Nigerians need to move from defensive to offensive approach against the machinations of the people in positions of power, whatever that position may be. / 7 Likes 1 Share |

I really the NCAA investigates the conduct of the domestic airlines in this period of fuel scarcity. The relevant portions of the 2006 Civil Aviation Act should be enforced to the letter. If flights are to be cancelled, it's simple courtesy to inform the passengers on time. The airline should also put the passengers in hotels and/or other flights on other airlines. 1 Like |

newfound2012:/ Nobody was killed. Customer services in Nigeria tend to turn to demigods themselves without considering that you paid for some services. It is not as if you are asking for freebies. To cap it all, they will be very rude about it or ignore you as if you don't exist. People can only take out their frustrations on the ones present. A message you pass along in USA may be heard. But in Nigeria, it is guaranteed not to see the light of the day as it will be swept under the proverbial carpet. And the rot continues. Do you in honesty think that a politician that knows that if he loots the treasury, he will be given the same justice as a peasant that stole a phone in the market place, will loot? It is high tolerance of nonsense that begets impunity. / 4 Likes 1 Share |

GodMode: And one day, this guy would probably say "you know what? i am going into politics. I wanna change things" How does a thug, who knows only thurgry, change things? (if i may use that word) You are confusing revolution with thugry. When the british were making it difficult for the masses in Old America by collecting unfair taxes, the people did not go after the tax collectors, they went after the government. This goes for you too invertedhammer. |

Bollinger:/ I think your biggest problem is that you are under the delusion that the same system you referred to as abnormal is operating on the same level of USA and Britain. Are Americans owed salaries in arrears? Their bills are itemized so you know what you are paying for. I have missed a couple of flights here and the airlines will give you free shuttle and accommodation if the fault is from their end. Most importantly, you can talk to the staff and get polite updates even if the flight is cancelled. Defending the anomalies in Nigeria is a journey you can never finish. Do you have fuel? / 2 Likes |

Serves Aero right. Aero Contractors is used to this abject disregard for passenger rights. 1) Delays: I once departed Lagos for Abuja around 11:30pm on a flight originally scheduled to depart at 5:45pm. That was the first time I was air-borne by midnight. I just dey pray make I survive to tell the story. I arrived Abuja airport after midnight. Had to unduly stress my friend coming to pick me up. That was my last patronage at Aero. Arik and IRS have better aircrafts, cause less delays and don't sell refreshments to passengers. 2) Outright cancellation of flights/ unreliable schedule: There was a day I went, with my friend, to Abuja airport to drop of his wife who had booked a flight to Owerri, scheduled to depart at 4:15pm. It was completely beyond my comprehension to learn on arrival at the check-in desk by 3pm that the same flight had already departed at 2pm!!.. Aero did not communicate to my friend's wife of any change in flight plans (which I expected an organisation with common sense to do). I told the aero staff emphatically that this was their fault and they had to put my friend's wife on another flight to Owerri same day. They simply told me coldly that there was no more Owerri flight for that day AND that the flight fee is already forfeited. I was livid! .. After 'raking' for like 5 minutes, and everyone just kept doing their thing as if I were one mad man, I had to resolve with my friend to go book a fresh ticket at Arik's desk, which we did. Aero is plain useless and frustrating, and it's not their fault. These are areas the NCAA should look into to ensure strict punishment for airlines who treat passengers like trash. It is a punishable offence, but anything goes in my country It would be even better if they were sued to court and made to pay heavily for damages due to disrupted passenger schedule. InvertedHammer: Are you 12? you are talking about now, when they have solved majority of their problems. The point is, at one time, they had governmental and social issues and they took the fight to the government, not private business. At the end of the day, your argument will still lead to my initial point of Nigeria's government"s inability to impose confidence in it's legal system which in turn forces it's masses to result to jungle justice. And where in my posts have i defended the anomalies in Nigeria as you put. You are defending your base instincts while i am pointing to the reasons why you are forced to result to it and why it is wrong. Just so we are clear. 1 Like |

Not surprised it happened to Arik. Customers are made to go through all stress, no proper apology. they look all powerful. since they have most African routes, there is basically nothing you can do. Most flights, especially those with less competition, I have been delayed severally. we even planned suing them. they leave luggage behind, and all other unprofessional actions. Abv-los-abv got less stress because of the alternatives. its bad it came to this, but ain't surprised. The regulatory agencies should look into the Arik conduct. they behave better when you use them from other countries, compared to here. |

If our lawmakers won't promogate appropriate laws to protect Nigerians in this kind of situations, I don't blame Nigerians for enforcing their right. This must change in Nigeria. Not that I support violence just that the airlines are taking us for granted. 1 Like |

If this report is true the perpetuators of that ugly situation should all be picked and prosecuted, assuming the CCTV camera is working. NCAA sent out a memo to passengers on what constitutes an offence by the airlines and the proper way to address it. The passengers could have reported to NCAA at the airport, they could have sued aero they had other options to manage this but resorted to violence at an airport.... they should be picked to set examples. 1 Like |

phineas:I agree with you,so if the passengers are punished by NCAA what should be done to the airline bearing in mind that this wasn't their 1st,2nd nor 3rd time of doing such a thing? There are times people are pushed to the wall and when that happens, they are bound to react #teambeatdemall |
