This is similar to lucid dreaming. If you can control it there is alot of things that you can do!

I saw a headless dead body crawling towards my door and was already close and was stretching its hand to reach out to my feet..I shouted and banged the door so hard and the bolt fell off, so I hard to carry my bags, boxes, stove , gallon filled with water, anything heavy just to help block the door.. and I went back to sleep.
I heard another sound again I open my eyes and i felt something cold on my feet behold the headless body was lying accross my feet on the down end of my bed and my door was wide open again, I shouted and I woke up again but this time for real and my door was slightly open and some wind trying to blow it wide open, I was sweating so bad..and I had to sleep with the lights on through out the night.
It was the headless horseman from sleepy hollow shocked

Yes, almost everyone has had such dreams.

I even had one this morning, matter of fact; where I dreamt I killed someone with my bare hands cos he impregnated my sister and I hid his body in the gutter. I was so terrified I began running away and his "ghost" was pursuing me. Mehn, the fear was just too real.
When I woke up, I was like "Thank God it's just a dream." sad
I'm your sister's guy, will you kill me if I impregnate her? LOL

How many of us watched Leonardo di Caprio's "Inception". That movie is too missclasssy cheesy , well apparently all his movies are top notched. Anyway I had a flash back of the movie and that prompted me to put this up.

Have you ever had an experience in
which you couldn’t be sure whether
things were real or not? I am not
referring to normal dreams, day dreaming or sleepwalking. These particular ones I am referring to seem real at the time and then you wake up and realise that they weren’t. I mean experiences which are more deeply confusing smiley

As a matter of fact very confusing!! grin

A false awakening may involve getting up, having breakfast, getting dressed, heading out for work... all the things you do every day on autopilot. It appears so real and solid to warrant
questioning its authenticity.

Indeed, you will only appreciate
how real a false awakening is when it happens to you - it reveals the remarkable capacity of the human brain to emulate and question reality.

Sometimes in such experiences you may be very convinced that you have done all sorts of things when really you have not. For example, you probably attended a dreaded interview and scaled through, only to find out it was a mirage.

The intriguing part about this is that you get the same feelings of tension and anxiety as you would have felt doing the same event in reality.

The red flag here is that you would have to go through that same feeling of tension and anxiety or feeling of pleasure and gratification all over again. Depending on what the dream was about. I prefer the latter tho smiley

So let's discus!!

Share your experiences and your thoughts. grin
There's another name for this bro.

So many times i have had that dreadful dreams or what should i called it,struggling to wake up,exhausted, yelling and calling for help, its just a mystery and a thing i don't want at all,i made a pledge to stop. all this dream or reality of a thing coz i do get exhausted when i woke up,i had this type of dream again but this time my focus is to know who is the man/woman behind it,i remembered talking fiercely while being pinned down for the person to show and fight like a man,Lo and behold i saw my uncle looking fierce, after waking up with almost my last breath,i walked out of the room and here comes my uncle standing gallantly in front of me,at first i was so terrified but i walked up to him told him never to toy with me or else i will kill him,the wife and his two sons,I felt that wasn't enough so i went into the kitchen brought out a knife and stab him in his thigh(I really don't know what came over me)dad was just looking like a zombie, since then no more dream of struggling to wake up,i do sleep and wake up comfortably
yes I do feel there's someone or rather behind it...because its more than just natural to me but I can't just get to the bottom of it.

I'm a VICTIM of false awakening ...since 2010 I've been suffering from it.but nobody really understand ..and mine is quite different because when it occurs I feel my life slipping away rapidly ...I always have this dream (not really a dream but don't know what else to call it ) which happens most times after staying awake for some time at night and sleeping back...everything would be the way it is ...the room or where ever I am would be the way it was before I slept .the person I slept with there if any would still be there (it's not really a dream but reality) then in that dream reality I'd be struggling to wake up but I can't ...I would be dying slowly in that dream .I would be begging the people there if someone slept on the bed with me to please wake me up because I can't wake myself or if I slept alone I'll be begging God and praying ...when I eventually wake up from the real sleep the room will still be very similar to way it was in that dream. but the people around will say they didn't hear me calling them that I was only sleeping soundly without disturbances. I'm emotional while writing this..I've never discussed this details with anyone ..I don't know if its medical condition.
I also have this dreams also, but this boils down to your sleeping position.

Always sleep with your side.

I've experienced it more than once.

Its really something else. Happens to my mom alot too.

Also, who can explain this phenomenon whereby you see something happen at the moment and there will be some kind of flashback as if you've seen that thing happen before. Then you predict correctly the next thing that would happen the next min seeing that incident unfolding right before your eyes. This is one part i still don't understand about me. Its like having a premonition of something happening and you can tell the next thing to happen. It became a thing of worry for me when my friends started avoiding me like i'm a wizard or something.
thank GOD oooo......am nt the only one having this o.......i was just about to same question

Hahahaha!! How come we keep having similar experiences?

Actually I have experienced false awakening twice. The first one was when I was still around 8 or 9yrs I guess.

I was having a dream( I can't remember the content anymore), then I woke up in the same position I had slept. I got up from bed and wanted to pee, everything felt so so real. cheesy

Although I had a feeling something wasn't right but I couldn't tell. So I decided to go outside the house to pee. On getting outside I saw a gutter in the compound that wasn't there in reality but I didn't notice that slight change in detailing.

That was how I brought out John Thomas ooo grin

When I was done with the last drop. I woke up. You know the rest. cheesy

LMAO!!!....I LAFF IN SPAIN mehn...The whole bed would jex be filled with John Thomas's works..

Have any of you ever witnessed what's called DEJA'VU? that feeling you get when something is about to happen and you felt like it had actually happened before? You can even tell the next action in a sequence when that happens. I'm I the only one with such experiences??

The dream can be scary i tell you, just as southwestngr suggest, sleeping position helps alot as well as your strong will or doggedness to curtail it,with that i believe you will unravel the mystery

I was watching a christian channel, there is this pastor she was preaching against dreams, she said people are not suppose to dream. And that God only made people to dream 3 times in there life. What am trying to point out is that is it bad to dream? because that preaching got me confused

My brother, the moment i noticed my friends are avoiding me i stopped telling them, they will be like "So what's going to happen next"since i stopped telling them, whenever things happened i do feel guilty of myself,i pray God clear the stuffs from me,i don't wanna see things anymore because it's simply a torture

OMG!
This was my 1st taste of the experience except for the fact that i was peeing in the toilet and it felt so real...I was like 11yrs old.
I had woken up after some sleep feeling full to bursting point.
Rushed to the loo, gratefully opened the floodgates cry and let loose a long string of "Pure Water cheesy" that'd make Poseidon envious.

Only for me to now wake up in the midst of a very wet bed angry.

OK, so i first perched like the way you see one of those Hurricane Katrina victims on rooftops huh.

It wasn't quite 12seconds, my Muse brought me the golden keys of Wisdom...I NUDGED/ROLLED MY COUSINS ON MY SIDE OF THE BED (he had it coming for eating my fish at meal time earlier tongue)grin, I CHANGED INTO DRY SHORTS &SINGLETS, HID MY BRIEFS DEEP IN THE WARDROBE, CHANGED MY COVER-CLOTH AND LAID BACK TF DOWN Praying Such Dream don't come again else Am Finished lipsrsealed!

DON'T BLAME ME JOOR...JSS2 Boy still bedwetting...chai shocked, I wouldn't have survived the shame undecided!!

NB
I've loads of dreams like that since then, to the point that sometimes I kinda know the trigger point for activating Reality; like I got good at seeing through those Matrix-ish layers eventually. Because that ability has saved me a lotta needless night-time pain and anxiety.

Quite enough times, I've experienced being in some jeopardy in my sleep and some primordial deeper level knowing bubbles up telling me "IT's a Dream, burst out of it now!" and I jerk tf awake.

So, I don't know if anyone's had it to that level sha; where you can consciously observe those DE JAVU type layers and peel 'em back.
- I watch way too many Horror flicks (for the MakeUp Effx),
- have a mind boggling collection of Sci-fi Movies (starting from The Fly, Star Trek (1976 release up to last week's picks!)
- E-books yapa thanks to PirateBay+ other Torrent sites (10's of thoousand literarily, had to admit to meself one day there was no way I was reading all that ish in dis one life time) [A 3TB Hard Drive crashed on me once and i grouched for months]
- my profession and hobbies (won't tell ya) also influence a bit
I can't really say what's responsible for my my switch in that direction; although am now much of Night Owl and when i sleep to dreamless nights, i still wake up many times tired like say i slept but my mind was processing in overclocked state all night

But, I'll really like to know if there's folks who've been able to do that Neo's kinda decoding ish where you get to even see through it or how you deal with it because av been having this mothas like every other month or so. (Specifically tha reason i stayed off Pot, ghanja etc in High School, shy.t was complicated enuf already).

Pls, share more. I'd wanna know!

@OP, helpful thread...kip it coming

Re: False Awakenings: A Dream Within A Dream by Fynestboi: 7:17am On May 10, 2015
kinglekan:
Well this might not necessarily apply though. Most of the time when we dream we really don't know we are dreaming.

But the focus of this thread is when you supposedly wake up from, for instance your "being chased by a ghost". Then you find yourself awake and breathing heavily thanking God it was just a dream, only for the police to come knock your door and say you actually murdered someone.

This second "layer" of dreaming can go as long as you being locked up in jail and awaiting execution, only for you to wake up and realise that you had a dream withing a dream. smiley

You get the concept now right? cheesy
Smh this guy don watch Hollywood movie taya.

Rarely dream.. but I've had this experience before.. when i was younger.. one was urinating ish..
Was slpin and i had to pee, woke up from d sleep and went to the toilet ,did my business thinking i was awake.. later woke up really nd i had wet the bed.. lipsrsealed

Another was wen i dreamt in my dream.. that my dad had an accident.. den i woke up from the dream(1st layer) and my dad told mi he was travelling that Morning, i started crying telling him not to go.. he said he had to and he'd drive carefully.. i continued crying and den woke up crying (2nd layer) ..
I had that bed wetting false awakening too as a child... funny part if after constant spanking and scolding my mind altered the dream sequence... so at one point when I wake up in the dream to go urinate, no matter how hard I try I cant pee into the toilet bowl but instead on the floor around it... the moment this happens my mind wakes me up for real... to go pee for real! Lol... I hope this doeant sount like gibberish but its hard to explain in a compressed form

lol, the more you struggle to wake up, the harder it feels... when it happens, just relax, don't struggle. it's called sleep paralysis it doesn't kill, it happens when you alter your usual sleep time, then you are trying to wake up at your normal wake up time e.g 5:30am but your brain has released a hormone to shutdown your motion system (legs, eyes, body). that's when you feel you are slightly awake but can't move. it's not witchcraft my friend, religion has made people weaker, believe false things and put fear in them, i'm a christian but i take science first.

I have this experience I guess twice ..but its been like 9 years ago o....mine was 2 layers of sleep...can't rily remember the details...I started asking people if its possible to dream inside a dream...didn't get a good answer...some even said its a lie and some said na winch dey follow them not me...what I want to ask is that how possible is it that sometimes I sleep..but I hear wat goes on around me a lot..is that weird.and please don't say its because its not sound or deep sleep...sometimes I even dream but whatever I am hearing in the dream ...when I wake up its the same thing that its been said in reality

This happens to me steady. I have had occasion where I even entered the third rhem of dream. I started waking up into the previous dream until reality. In my own case I happen to have the knowledge that I am in a dream and would soon wake up. So I used the opportunity to do my worse like doing all sort of things that I would never do in reality.
