Praise God. He indeed is worthy of our praise. You may consider giving a Pre-lay mash as soon as you have 2% production equally you need to take steps to increase the feed intake. Regards.
Thanks @davidsfarm,i Will Increase There Feed

jamp. You once thought of giving some stunted 14 weeks old pullet starter mash. Did you eventually go ahead with it? If yes, for how long & what was the result?

I didnt do it again cos some people adviced I placed them on multivitamin an feed them well. Someone said its not wise to give a short 3yr old boy breast milk.

My vet doctor wast happy that I didnt try it but I will try it with my 7wks birds when they are 12-14 wks.

I weighed some today the weights range is 0.8-1.11kg. They are about 20 in number n 17wks 3 days today.

jamp. OK. Thanks for your response. I was just thinking about it earlier today & concluded that it might be an idea worth trying since Starter Mash contains higher M.E & C.P than the Growers Mash. Consequently, birds feeding on the former should gain more weight than those being fed Growers. The only question I haven't answered is the possible impact of the feeds on the birds' digestive system.

Yea starter mash contains high M.E & C.P but its mainly for building of reproductive organs and other sensitive organs. At 14wks most of the organs are formed already. The question that needs answer is does SM increases body weight. If yes then one can use from 0-16wks.

Like you said Its worth trying. I will experiment that once my 8wks batch reach 13wks.

What do you have to say about their weight? Do u think they can lay at 24wks?
Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by Eggcelent(m): 10:18am On May 12, 2015
jamp. According to the growth schedule by the company which came up with ISA Brown, 7 weeks pullets should weigh between 0.56 and 0.59kg i.e if you target having first egg by 18 weeks. However, since your target is having the first egg by the 24th week, I think you are still on track.

@jamp
@eggcelent

Theoretically (according to most management guides I have read), Chicks from 0-7 weeks cannot regulate their feed intake i.e. they eat all they see available. This is the reason why a nutrient dense diet is fed to help their organs grow quickly

However, from 7 weeks, they are able to regulate their feed intake according to their energy needs. The reason why it is advised that a nutrient light diet is fed (grower mash) is because the bird will tend to eat more thus enlarging the size of the crop. A large crop helps a bird store more feed for its energy needs at night. It is important for a pullet to have a well developed crop by the time it starts laying in order to keep it's laying potential at optimal levels as laying an egg takes a lot of work and nutrient away from the bird.

If you decide to revert to starer mash at this point, the bird will not consume enough feed to enlarge it's crop in preparation for the laying phase although the nutrient dense diet may aid its weight gain but you will eventually make them perform at sub-optimal levels when they start laying.

Birds that are underweight will catch up with their peers in the long run. They will only start to lay at a much older age than their peers. What you can do to save prepare them better for the advanced age at first lay is to separate them and keep giving them grower mash till the reach the required body weight i.e. do not switch them to layer feed along with the others.

All the best.

Sorry for the late response,i'd been down & my newly laying birds production crashed recently from 90% to about 70+%.
As per using ivermectin for delousing,you have to take note of the following,i will base it on 1k birds bt convert to suit your need:
it is advised to use 90mls per 1000birds for each day,treatment is for 2days.
You put the whole 90mls(or as applicable in your situation) in about 25% of their total daily water consumption. When they drink it completely,wait for 3 mins-1hr before resuming normal water.
Repeat the above step the 2nd day,then start multivitamin 3rd day.
After two weeks,repeat the treatment all over and ensure you pack the litter as earlier advised.
endy247:
ok thanks, bt how can it be treated? cos i've noticed it in my birds and i'm suspecting dat it might be d reason they haven't started laying @21 weeks.

In continuation from the earlier post. If symptoms persist after treatment mentioned earlier then get POUR ON and apply on each bird. Else,consult your doctor as advised by PARACETAMOL.
Finally,be patient,the weather is a bit harsh.give them multivitamin and feed well.
