Mary had survived the accident with a broken arm, cast in a PoP. A twisted ankle and bruises.

Tade sat at the foot of the hospital bed and massaged his daughter's feet. She looked frail in the green hospital gown. It could have been worse, he thought.
"Why don't you go home and have a change of clothes?" Tade asked as he watched Bola feed their baby girl on her sick bed.

Bola looked at him, mouth ajar in surprise. She wiped a lone tear off her cheek before shaking her head. "I'm ok like this, thanks."

Tade's new attitude baffled her. First, he had called his mum to bring her favorite dish of amala and ewedu. He had also insisted that she go home and rest, even though she had kicked against it vehemently.

Her phone vibrated in her purse. She sighed before picking the call.

"Hello." Bola said into her phone.

"Sister, where are you?" Sade asked from the other end.

Bola pinned her phone to her ear with one lifted shoulder, while she fed Mary cereal.

"At the hospital. How are you, Sade?" Bola said into the phone.

She had not left Mary's bedside since they got there the previous day. She had kept vigil with an equally anxious Tade and the Johnsons. Pa Johnson and his Wife had only left the hospital to prepare Dele for school. It's been one long night for the family.

"I need you sis, I really need you now." Was all Sade managed to say amidst sobs. Bola became apprehensive. Sade had put to bed a bouncing baby girl a couple of weeks earlier.

Noticing her discomfort, Tade moved closer to her.
"Let me have the cereal bowl" He mouthed and stretched his hands towards her. She quickly handed him the bowl and walked outside to receive the call.

"Sade, what's going on? How is Emily?" She asked, scared.

"Emily is fine, sis. She's...she's...she's not in ..."

"She's not where?" Bola asked impatiently. She may not be best of friends with her younger sister, but she sure cared about her. Sade had been through a lot in her last weeks of pregnancy, with three different men coming forward to claim paternity of the unborn baby.

"She's not in her baby cot..."

"Oh my! What happened?"

"She's missing...I've searched everywhere." she sobbed.

"Have you asked her father?" She asked.

"He's not even in the country at the moment." She sobbed uncontrollably. Bola could hear the background sound from sade's side. Objects being moved, tables being turned. The police, she thought.

"Who is there with you?" She asked

"Em...the police." Sade hesitated before she answered.

"Good. I'll be with you in an hour. Let me take care of my baby, then I'll be with you. Please don't tell mama and papa yet." She pleaded with her sister.

Bola sighed deeply as she entered her daughter's hospital room.

"Is everything alright?" Tade asked as she opened the door. He was done with the feeding and was rinsing the cereal bowl in the wash stand. Bola smiled inwardly in spite of herself. I have him by the jugular again, she thought.

"it's Sade o, her baby was kidnapped!" She told a concerned Tade.
