lolz..
such is the society we find ourselves in

Men should try to help out at home.
it's no big deal.

I really don't blame them, though.
some ladies already turned themselves into slaves for their boyfriends... what do you expect in marriage?
I used to be pretty lazy at helping my woman. I've since changed that selfish and insensitive behaviour, and it's done wonders for me. She keeps returning the favour in kind.

Actually, we need to be empathic towards our women. The lifestyle of insensitivity our fathers lived may have worked back then; it won't NOW.

it still does not amount to the fact that we still have more men at a very wide margin who are bread winners compared to the female folks. And it will remain so in a very very long period of time.
because insecure men have suppressed women for so long smiley
Now is the time. women are ready to sit at the throne and take their place in the society

When you empower you woman to the best of your capabilities.
you have not only empowered her but your kids.

it is easy to know the kind of woman that raised a guy by how he behaves and thinks

Looool...

And permit me to ask.

How many women are ready to come out and speak out and sit at the "throne" you talk of?

It's not all about empowering women. Majority of you female folks are not outspoken naturally. Forget suppression or oppression.

Many a times i've witnessed where ladies/girls/women are expected to come out and speak or do a brave thing or two,,but No your female folks sit back in the comfort of their homes and leave it for the men to do.

So what are you talking about suppression? There are a lot of women in the world who naturally won't come out to speak out or do anything.

Besides women have been given a lot of opportunities at the detriment of men. So many females nowadays get jobs not based on merit but simply because they are females.

Is that what you people are fighting for?

That a man should be cheated because you are a female?

Look,,if you want whatever it is you are looking for go and start from your female folks who are still locked up in their homes not because of any oppression or suppression but because they chose to do so.

And then let me see how quick it will take you to sit on that "throne" you talk about.

You must be a comedian honestly. grin

So you're trying to say that your wife won't hold any financial responsibility in your house?
Yes and is there a problem with that?

Look,,its not like it's a strict rule for me. If my wife decides that she wants to put a part of what she earns on the table to cater for the family,,no problem.

But I see myself running my family single handedly and handling the greater part of the financial responsibility.

And if I don't disturb her about any financial assistance,,she shouldn't start ranting about chores.

My mother wouldn't even dare tell my dad to come do the dishes or cook his own dinner.

Very unthinkable! undecided

Yes. you cannot predict life.
we see a lot of men loose their source of income or even life
and the family life is turned around.
The woman is rendered useless.
or family will come and take properly.

Even if a ,man leave enough money for the family
once the woman is clueless on how to make money or handle herself independently
wahala dey
in no time the family will be in debt or crisis

I understand you perfectly.

But if you read my post carefully,,i never opined that my wife would jobless and be a full housewife.

I stated that I would prefer to take full responsibility of the financial burden.

Helping her with chores it's a thing of choice. If I decide to join her with the chores during the weekend it's my choice.

She shouldn't make it look like a compulsory thing.

So take for example,,we have a little child and he falls very ill and i'm not financially stable at the moment will she decide not to foot the medical bills if she is financially bouyant at the moment simply because I don't do house chores with her?

Think about that.

Another thing I know is this issue of house work bla bla bla is just a hullabaloo that will die off immediately your children start growing up to a certain age.

I don't hear mothers of teenage children who are old enough to take over the house chores still complain about their husband not doing chores. But the financial responsibility still continues even after the children are through with their university education(in some cases).

So what is all these aimless and childish struggle all about? huh

I had to change after that laziness kept creating unnecessary troubles between us. I had to!

I can't continue folding my hands, curl my legs and be watching the TV while she toils in the kitchen to make me dinner. It's unfair.

Sometimes, even when I'm not physically involved in the chores, I emotionally involved by taking a seat next to her in the kitchen. Women aren't fools; men just refused to understand them.

Seriously, honey. I just feel like giving you a big hug right now.

I still don't understand why guys think it's derogatory to help around the house.

Naijaboiy you are always making sense.
I am happy you are among the few responsible real men that would always want to take care of their families even when their wives are making millions. It's high time people apply common sense on how to run a family and stop forcing whatever silly ideology they have on others.

Due to my background, I initially toed that path of assuming our wives to be housemaid. Infact, as far back as during my adolescent time, I've declared how dominating and arrogant I was going to be to my future woman. Of course, I kept to those words, and was gladly and foolishly destroying the happiness of the one person that means so much to me.

It all changed ONE MORNING when she so appreciated me for allowing her to stay back in bed while I thoroughly cleaned the entire house, and mopped every dirt. It worked wonders! Her gratitude shamed my stupidity and insensitivity. It meant she has been wishing I could get the signals and be a little helpful- just a little.

I was joyed by that gratitude I continued to be helpful to her till this day. And it has continued to work wonders. I had no choice than to question those wrong beliefs of mine, tested their validity in light of the current age, saw their folly, and gradually discarded them.

It's all give and take. I lose some part, and she does the same. To love is to change!

in my opinion I feel that's how it should be.

It's not like my wife is not allowed to contribute whatever she can financially but a greater weight still dwells on the man.

If my wife is making millions common sense and love for her family will tell her that she's meant to channel some of it for the upkeep of her family.

Keep quiet there!

And since when did it become compulsory that he helps you doing the work?

Since when did doing common house chores make you a working machine?

Are the men who solely cater for their family's financial responsibilities now ATMs?

Stop talking like your dad comes to your kitchen to wash your dirty plates for you and the whole house while you are around.

Nonsense.

No one is saying you must carry knife to slice yam or pick up broom to sweep the whole house all the time. Doing it once in a while is no biggie...your presence in the kitchen even if all you do is to sit down and steal from the meat meant for cooking brings nothing but joy to we ladies.

As simple as that! And you folks hardly fail to return the favour!

I buried my ego that morning! You don't keep what's not useful. And I'm working hard to ensure it doesn't resurrect again. Arrogance causes pain; ego brings pain!

Yes and i'm talking about your dad here.

Has your mum ever complained to you that your dad doesn't do house chores?

So let me ask you a question. If your husband decides not to help you with chores what will you do?

Get divorce papers?

Or you will run away?

Are you ladies trying to equate financial responsibilities with common house chores?

I mean like WTF!!!!

If your husband decides to help you with chores once in a while,,its his choice. And if he doesn't just live the fhuuck with it.

With what you are saying I can rightly conclude that you will neglect financial responsibilities simply because your husband doesn't help you with house chores.

You'll just be looking for a really stùpid way to end your marriage. undecided

How long will all these last?

Will your husband keep doing these things when he starts getting really busy at work? Or when you people start having kids old enough to take over the house chores.

It seems like most of you ladies are only looking at the early stages of marriage.

I don't see this helping with house chores issue continuing when you are a little older in the marriage.

But financial issues keep coming up.

The fact that one man has come on here to speak otherwise in favour of your point doesn't make other men who disagree to it devils or "wicked" (as you put it).

Let's be realistic here.
