Of what benefit is it to get visitor visa and travel weather for symposium,seminar or whatever for just a week or so and return back to naija,or does it mean that one can travel with this type of visa and decided to stay over there and change the visa status,won't that makes one an illegal immigrants that u will not be able to work,move around or something?,pls I need more enlightenment on this,i have such opportunity to visit New York but considering the cash involved,as I don't know anybody there makes me feel it doesn't what it since I still have my freedom here in naija,i stand to be corrected pls,i need explanation of how this is going to work over there,then I can grab the opportunity . B visa is for visits, seminars, medical treatment. U are not allowed to work / do anything that brings an income to you from American taxpayers money.
If u have a one week visit, its a test of your intergrity. Travel for a week and return. If u can't afford it, then don't travel. Cos e go hard u well well if u go there go run.
But outta curiosity, y did u apply when u can't afford to travel?

Sorry to say this, but you sound like a flight risk.

People that travel for seminar, conference or exhibitions do so to learn and improve in their field.

On the othe hand, others travel for vacation, holiday and tourism ( you don't expect to get explanations for these).

In your situation if you call their contact number, they might be able to change the old DS-160 barcode to the new DS-160 barcode which you have filled with the corrected details, meanwhile on the other hand you might be asked to pay a new visa fee which of course you would have to schedule the appointment for a later date!

The best advice I can give you for you to avoid paying a new fee is, tell your mother in-law not to go for the interview, so she will be considered "No-Show" applicants. However her Visa Fee Receipt would be deactivated and will be reactivated back respectively afer two working days of her scheduled appointment!

So therefore you can fill another DS-160 for your mother in-law but this time make sure no mistake is made, upon competing the form log in to the scheduling page update her profile with the new DS-160 barcode and then schedule a new date for her with that same Visa fee receipt no!

Simple as that!

No! She wont have any issues whatsoever during the interview. People cancel and Reschedule which is Normal!

Pls when filling the ds form, there are two places I ticked I don't know such as status(may he's a citizen, legal immigrant etc) and name of organisation brother works. Pls op this won't affect our chances of getting the visa approved. Because I felt it should since it isn't compulsory on the page.

Are you visiting your brother If you are visiting your brother, i think you should know his status and you are suppose to state it on the form because VO might ask you about it during your interview.

Regarding the Name of Organisation stated in the form, its not meant for your your brother! so there's nothing wrong as you ticked Do Not Know! below Contact Help in bold will solve your worries:

Your U.S. Point of Contact can be any individual in the U.S. who knows you and can verify, if necessary, your identity. If you do not personally know anyone in the U.S., you may enter the name of the store, company, or organization you plan to visit during your trip.

Is she a ist time traveller?
Did she have a B visa?
What was her reason for carrying her certificates? Truth is, its compelling evidence she was migrating. They got in touch with the US embassy and cancelled the visa.
IMO, the visa is cancelled, it is cancelled. Paying a lawyer is a waste of kudi. Her best chance is to reapply and explain why she had such sensitive documents for a supposed visit

no need to get a lawyer, she has to reapply and state it in her ds-160 because she will definitely be asked and if she can convince them she will get it again.

The ist time I went to the US via klm, at amsterdam the lady there delayed me with saome foolish questions including ' the hairstyle on the passport is not the same with what u have now' Duh! I mentally rolled my eyes while I answered her, yes cos it was 2 years ago.
My point is, I think transit countries have an agreement the US to fish out d bad fish (pun intended ) I agree they used the 3 days to get a feedback from the USa.

this is so! the US has a pre-clearance agreement at the Abu Dhabi airport which makes you clear immigration from abu dhabi and saves you the stress of long queues in the us for immigration clearance. the flight is then treated like a local flight like you rightly said. most likely for a first timer, you load will be thoroughly searched. my eyes see pepper for Chicago the first time i went to US.. i spent close to 3hr with the immigration guys. them search my load, search my document, verified my return flights, asked for all sorts of information based on the form i filled. na there i see my life history for there screen.. my wife and pikin picture wey i no give them. so you need to be very truthful of your aim, else, if them nab you, na deportation be that. why did she carry her certificates if she wasn't migrating thou? anyways, tell her to reapply and then have a ground and brethe taking excuse for carry such documents with her. good luck people. i'm sure the five months ticket messed her up, but why na? How can she have a return ticket for five months plus the certificate again and i'm sure on her ds 160 she didn't state that she'll be staying for five months, she really messed up I must say, let her reapply and be ready to explain well well to the consulate officer

I hear people say they filled that they are going for car importation. some say they mentioned the name of the conference they are going for. But i have never come across such page in two applications i have done so far.

I guess the glitch/virus has now been fixed...If you wanna go, I'd advise you go as early as 8am or late 3pm ish...cos the mid day rush na craz with everyone blasting phonetics even NIV Hustlers like us wey no sabi where MM2 dey.

Pls if anybody hear news of cheap or discount flight make una update biko.
