My wife went to her CR1/IR1 visa interview on the 22 of June, the CO initials are KM (case # acc2014796018). The CO denied her a visa and stated that she was not convinced that our marriage is real. She also stated that I should do a DNA test for my children. I was baffled because I did not have to do it when their citizenship were approved because I showed enough compelling evidence. But rather than putting our case on AP and give us time to do the DNA test, she said she will send our case back to the U.S. I served in the military for four years and was deployed to Iraq. I am very heart broken and hurt that she could make this kind of decision with all the evidence with provided her. We gave her marriage certificate, traditional wedding photos, white wedding photos, pictures of us kissing and generally having fun, facebook chat record dating back to 2011, tango chat records, phone call records, westernunion records, etc... I and my wife have 2 U.S citizen children together. We gave her their U.S passport and original Report of Birth Abroad We have a house in Ghana under both of our names. She said she wanted DNA but never told us how to get it or gave us time to do it. I miss my wife and my children our growing up without me. I beg you please look at our case or ask someone at the embassy to look into the situation. And i also want to know the status of our case, if possible. please. I can provide more information if needed. Thank you.

If PR means Permanent Resident, yes, it does. But the correct term is Legal Permanent Resident.[/quote
Yea that's what I meant. Thanks a lot

It sounds like this case was handled in Accra. Please contact the U.S. Embassy in Accra directly. Their website states:

If your inquiry is regarding Immigration visas, please send an email to IVDVACCRA@state.gov.

Please include in your correspondence/email the following:

Your full name
Your case number (should be a 10 digit number such as ACC2007123456)
State whether you are the applicant or the petitioner
Clearly state your question or concern in the subject line (such as Scheduling Question or DNA Question)

Hello VO,

I want to know which one is better and faster:

1. Filling 1-30 petition for your spouse when your still a Permanent Resident and later update your status after you become an Citizen or

2. Wait till you become an American Citizen before filling for your spouse especially now that the processing times are becoming longer. The person will be applying for Citizenship in about 2 months time

Thank you

It's faster to file the I-130 now, and then to let NVC know that you have become a U.S. citizen. The visa category will change from an F2A to an IR1 (or CR1), without the petitioner needing to file a fresh I-130.

Hello VisaOfficer, good thing I found this site as I'll be interviewing next week. I have a concern, can western union receipts from my Fiancée be presented along with proofs of an ongoing relationship? I'm asking as i don't want to shoot myself in the foot just by being honest about that. I have read elsewhere that it can be viewed in a negative light, especially when the history of Internet scam in Nigeria is considered. I'm hoping our case will be judged on the merit of how good I can speak of our relationship and not our financial dealings.
Thanks

Does it sound true to you? A bank account in Poland? Really? smiley

Also, it does not cost $875 to interview for the Diversity Visa program. The DV interview fee is only $330. And we would never ask you to send money by Western Union to a bank account

Although they said the $875 is for visa processing fee.

I thought as much.....just needed you to enlighten me more abt it. Thanks to you. U just did.

@visa officer thank you so much for your prompt reply. Do I fill the form before emailing for an interview and about evidence of staying outside the states is tricky. My dad seized my green card and it was after his death I got hold of it. Please if my dad is a former employee of the embassy will it make it easier?

Sure, you can bring Western Union receipts. But as you say, the most important thing will be how credibly you can discuss the relationship, not the evidence you bring.

These questions are about non-immigrant visas, not immigrant visas. Allow me to direct you to the non-immigrant visa thread at https://www.nairaland.com/1792662/u.s-non-immigrant-visas-listening . Thanks!

You can fill out the form any time and bring it to the interview. I don't think it will matter that your father was employed at the Embassy. But we can look up your records online, probably. It's a good idea to bring whatever evidence you can find.

See you all Monday -- it's time for some weekend!

Just a note to our new arrivals: If this is your first time in this thread, you might want to scroll through a few pages before posting -- your question may already have been addressed previously. smiley I don't answer questions about non-immigrant (tourist, student) visas, and I don't answer private messages. But I like discussing immigration policy and procedures, a lot. That makes me boring at parties but somewhat useful here. Welcome!

Hello VO, Please I made an error on my ds260 which has been sent to NVC, I used my Petitoner's former Chicago address unknown to me that he has moved to another state. Please, how can this be corrected with nvc and will this not ruin my application? Regards.

Thank you. Duly noted.

VisaOfficer:

It's okay for someone to file multiple petitions at the same time. They won't adversely affect each other. (Unless someone files for, say, multiple spouses, or six parents instead of two -- and that happens once in a while! We do notice, too. smiley )

Dear VO,

Thanks for your wonderful insight. My friend a Nigerian have been dating a Benin republic lady for sometime. while she was submitting her DV lottery they were not yet married hence she played as a single lady. Now they just got married traditionally before the result came out and the lady won. No official marriage document yet as they will do the white wedding soon in Benin before the interview.

My question is, in the application submission, can the girl include him as now the husband. Will it affect the process in anyway. The marriage certificate will bear the date of after the winning.
As a Nigerian, will the Nigerian ban affect their chances. The lottery was played in Benin and i assume the interview will be in Benin. My friend resides and works in Nigeria but is always in Benin for business though they have already planned the lady moving over to Nigeria to live with him.
My friends already have 3 kids all below 10 from the last marriage though they are with their mum. Can he include the kids name in the application and what is the possibility of him taking them later if they are successful now. The new wife is in support of this.

All documents he can produce like birth certificate, int'l passport and the likes will be Nigerian.
Thanks for the good work

Hello Visa Officer,

If an immigrant visa has been filed by a sibling, is it possible to still apply for a non- immigrant visa while waiting for the immigrant to mature?

Thanks
