Don't waste your time thinking of getting those stocks at those ridiculous prices...that can only be possible during a crash.

I think the index is clearly heading to 30,000 levels and possible lower.
The question is will it find support or will we see another new low?
YTD Bottom was the memorable Friday - Feb 13 when Index closed at 27,585.
We wait and see

But their half year EPS I saw was in the region of 80k/share; how come they're paying more than they earned?

I have not read Stanbic bank 2014/2015 annual report but it is very possible that company can pay dividend using retained cash. If you have seen 80K as Eps and they paid 90K cash dividend then certainly they paid from reserve.

Hello house!
As far as this market is concerned for the expected first half result especially banks,i will say despite glaring factors that is tilting this mart to d bearish tale which are : d falling oil price globally that is making our domestic economic fundamental fragile thereby leading to unimpressive company performance that has led to low market activity that is making foreign support base of our market to be finding their way out and which has led to continuous new low prices emergence. And trading now has being gambling in d dark because there is no key data to guide a trader.@semples,i think u understood it till this juncture!
So with these myriads of happenings on our bourse,i foresee that result of d banks that will be deemed marginal, fair or good must have being from some banks who are more favoured or positioned to take advantage of the volatility in d currency market to boost their Forex trading income.@semples u must hv understood me to this juncture too.I said despite the rising cost of funds, limits on non-interest income, declining quality of loans and possiblity of lower dividend pay sooner in d year end are what is plagueing d banking industry as i speak now.i wrote that d need for building reserve is what will deem it fit to retain some profit while paying little out as dividend. So i went ahead to admonished market players in my last sentence "pls fellow jijo, investors be watchful and don't catch a falling knife."
@semples i think you know understood me perfectly.Sorry it was due to ambiguity and incompleteness of a single thought b4 putting in d other.

U berra wait and let see some latent new low of all time that fbnh may form soonest, i remembered it once touched #6.50 and now its #7.95.Nothing has changed, still in d bearish underlying market condition and its only good first half result that can change this condition.Meanwhile,I don't see fbnh result fantastic for h1,2015 so why d unrealistic illusion.

As at last week STANBIC offered the best USD rate $199.8k while the other banks were offering #215:00k upwards though I ve exhausted my yearly Maximum withdraw limit courtesy of CBN new rule.

So somebody tell Emelife to wake up unless he want to turn naira to tissue paper.
