What is the basis of all the accusations thrown around here? Since the inception of this administration, the most visible and widely publicized effort in the fight against corruption involved two northern ex-governors that were arrested and prosecuted for corruption, with one of them actually spending time in Prison with his son.

How then can it be claimed that the fight against corruption is designed to paint the leaders of the SS/SE in a bad hue?
State of origin pls?

Well, if that be the case then it's not bad. However, we have to know that not everyone can be philanthropic, hence, some people who get enrished never pass it down to others, that's why I prefer a system that will benefit many..

Nigeria can never benefit every person; the wasn't it's design intent.

Let's be objective here, you can't throw such serious accusations based on your perception of what the' likely' motives are, in the light of cold hard evidence that confirms the opposite.

It is amazing how half of the Northern youth are wallowing in illiteracy, poverty and ignorance but I have yet to see a thread stating they are being probed by EFCC or even one or the other yeye committees set up to make it look like they are working on fighting corruption. Where can a Northen State brag of development? Where can they show improvement of social welfare in the North?

Kano and Kaduna states are more developed than any state you are from. Go figure.

Fine then quit pretending like you're making sense, of what use is any discourse devoid of objectivity?

I understand you need to calm frayed and provoked nerves, but cutting your nose to spite your face by allowing corruption to be intricately woven into the fabric of your society, just because you are fighting against a perceived enemy you think wants to discredit the same society is simply counter productive and self destructive at best.

Think.

Nigeria has nothing to be discredited about; it's in itself a discredited society, no little thanks to the corrupt and lopsided system that was carefully set up by those you know.

We all know the negative implications of corruption in a society. But where and when the so called war against corruption is tailored and swayed towards a group of people, then it must be cast aside and refused.

See what I was talking about.. Another SS probe..

We and our politicians have to wake up from slumber and do what's right. Probe will only help the present ones stand on their feet and work.

It was a novel occurrence in Nigeria's political affairs to have such powerful individuals humbled and thrown into bedless detention rooms; e never happen before, so the publicity was clearly earned and not ascribed madam mycoli.

The fact is they were granted bail and not let off the hook. I will come back here and remind you when they are finally sentenced. Compare that to southern leaders whose battle with the EFCC has ended with invitations and interrogations at worst.

If we are talking about painting a person or region as corrupt, is it not the most publicized that gets most soaked with the paint?

Let's be fair to truth and reason here.

Your Buhari should probe Southwest governors and the fool amaechi if he is sincere with this corruption war.

All I know is that Buhari is abusing institutions and the judiciary to clampdown on opposition figures.

Buhari is the corrupt one here.

Equity demands fairness and clean hands.

Buhari is not in anyway being fair but rather abusing his powers and office to clampdown on opposition figures.

Since he got sworn in the only thing we here is arrests and accusations.
Is that in anyway going to improve the life of the common man?

They don't really mean what they're saying, it's just venting. I understand how they could feel suffocated but only objectivity will rescue them from their skewed perceptions.

All evidence points to the opposite of what they're saying so they're clearly letting off some steam, one of them even boldly claimed he was suspending objectivity just for this thread (hopefully).

We as a people will resist any attempt to further malign and subjugate us as a people, while under the very auspices of our collective resources. Mbanu!

You are defending the right of thieves who steal from the money meant for you simply because you think the police doing the arrest is from another ethnic group. If a south eastern governor loots his state, whose money has he looted?... Is he looting from hausas or is he looting from poor southeasterners?

This is the very shity mentality the typical black man has exhibited for centuries that makes us lower animals.

I might tilt towards your angle.

Barcanista, whynotthetruth, could you please help confirm that prior to this time, no highly placed corrupt public office holder has even so much as gotten a remanding in prison?
Good Morning

I won't be surprised anyway...North thieves, South thieves...who will imprison who?
I cannot even vouch that Jona didn't touch any stray kobo. All I know is that he meant well for this country and did the best he could, given the circumstances and near zero support.
.

Oga Fulani, if these people who claim "No Corruption" meant business, they will uphold the court ruling.
They would stop any attempt to bail him.
More importantly!!! They will not show us a group of jubilant crowd, scaling airport fences to welcome him home.

I take it as a slap in the face. We were busy lamenting that Sule Lamido got "just a remanding" when a young man was sentenced to death for stealing...what was it again? Chicken abi tin tomatoes (pun intended)...
Then we were dealt a bigger blow when it was learned he's been granted bail.

I take it as a form of... "ntoiii to your southerners, we own this country, we will do with our own as we please, All hail the Lamido!!!"

This is why I said Buhari cannot fight this hydra headed monster when the said monster sits as an effigy in the centre of his living room.

There's no sitting on the fence.

I'd like to believe you are an objective person so i'd address you.

First of all, the crimes Ohakim, Lamido, Nyarko etc are accused of , are bailable offences. The fact that they were released on bail is not the end of the case. Bode George was released on bail before his conviction.

Let us be honest with ourselves, this is the first time in a long time that the EFCC is active. They are at least showing some guts and chasing some very powerful men.

Nyarko and Sylva are APC men, yet they are been investigated. New charges have been brought on sylva.

Dasuki was arrested yesterday.

Let us not let hatred becloud judgment. Elections are over, the campaign is over.

I am convinced that the present government is doing its best to sanitize the system.

Sule Lamido was just recently sentenced to a remanding in prison till September, then his case gets transferred to ABJ where he is granted bail.

On returning, he is greeted by a crowd of jubilants.

Lool.

I've seen this write up by Barcanista.

Actually the judge in Kano did rule that he be remanded in a prison facility (not because he has been pronounced guilty) but because the EFCC said they couldn't accommodate him probably because their hands were full.

However, the judge did say another vacation judge will listen to the bail application because the legal system would be going on a vacation. They have a calendar of their own.
