Thanks a lot for your response.
Discussed this issue with an auto electrician and also a mech. They advised it's okay that way because of our weather, to me it's how far they understand these modern cars, checked earlier for any other wiring issues no visible broken wire. Next step to check is to see if the thermostat is still in this ride.

Easy, start the car, temp will ba at half mark in 10mins max! Even if the fans are connected directly. (if your fan is running direct)

Hello guys, I like Lexus for its interior, movement and balance and also as a brand.

For a first car, what Lexus series (i.e IS, ES or GS) would you recommend in terms of maintenance, availability of parts, resale value (for upgrading purposes) and fuel consumption?

From my research, I do fancy IS200 series 2004 and above. What do you think guys?

Thanks for always responding promptly. If the temperature doesn't get to half mark, does it mean the thermostat us stuck open/closed?

Did he remove the tyre from the alloy rim?
If yes, then he has damaged the TPMS sensor. Buy another sensor and reprogramme it.

Next time, pls always inform your vulcanizer that your tyres have sensors and they should be extra careful. Stay with them and tell them to avoid using their metallic contraptions to touch or hit the sensor, they should not immerse the sensor in water or sand, they should not tamper with the valve area.

To all those having issues with check engine / vsc error due to cylinder misfire, I have a solution for u. Do not rush into changing your coil or plugs. You can diagnose the problem yourself. First identify the faulty cylinder by running diagnostics or checking to see if the sound of the engine will change when you disconnect the socket connected to the coil. If there is no change, that particular cylinder needs to be investigated further.

Next you need to find out what exactly is the problem. It could be the coil, the plug or the nozzle. You can find out by switching the plug, coil and nozzle into other cylinders which are working. For example assuming you have detected misfire on just one cylinder eg cylinder 2, place the coil of cylinder 2 in cylinder 4, and the plug in cylinder 6 then test it. If the problem moves to cylinder 4, you can safely conclude that it is the coil. If the priblem moves to 6, it is the plug. If the problem remains, it may be the nozzle. You will need a mechanic to help with the nozzle. Remove and clean the nozzles with a nozzle cleaner (carb cleaner spray) and switch it with one of the cylinders which has no problem when replacing them.

This will help you isolate the problem. Which ever of coil, plug or nozzle is faulty will show by moving it to a different cylinder position. You can then decide to replace what exactly is faulty. If you cannot do this yourself, give this instruction to a mechanic and watch them do it. Hope this helps.

Lomomike something weird happened that am still yet to explain.
Yesterday after wading through a flooded street (unavoidable) on my way to work. My low tire pressure indicator came on when I was going home in the evening. I was baffled cause my tyres/rims don't have sensors fitted on them. ( confirmed this when I changed all my tires) so I just assumed that it was the flood after ensuring my tyres looked inflated and that it will go off when the water dries.

This morning on my way out it came on again, I parked gauged all my tyres and found one to be below 28psi. I reset the tyres pressure switch to check see if the indicator came back and after driving awhile it did. I finally stopped at a volcanizer to top them. 35psi, reset the switch and drove off. The indicator did not come on again till now.

Now what puzzles me was how the low tyre was detected without a tyre sensor?

And am sure my tyres have no sensor cause I was on the guys changing my tyres to be careful. And we both saw there were no sensor just the valve.

There may be other ways cars detect low tyre pressure. What do you think?

I've never thought of that before. Never have I had time to study it. However, your cold tyre pressure is suppose to be 30psi.

Will revert the pressure to 30psi.
As per the warning light, just finish reading an article that some car has direct and indirect means to monitor Tyre pressure. The direct means is by the Tyre sensor fitted on each Tyre and the associated receiver, while the indirect means is via the sensor connected to the ABS.

This makes sense cos i know that the lexus Rx330 uses the ABS as a kind of LSD (Limited Slip Differential), if the car is stuck and one of the wheel is spinning freely, the ABS applies brake force to that particular wheel so that the other wheel with more traction gets more power transfers to it and frees the car. I know this works in AWD models (I have personally tried it) dont know about FWD models.

Guy do you know that most people don't know that the RX330 and 350 have FWD and AWD model? Most just assume that all of them are AWD or more commonly called "JEEP" hence the all have "auxiliary".

It's very simple to identify AWD and FWD in the RX330/350. If the forth letter on your vin number is 'H' then you have an AWD but if it's a 'G' it is a FWD.

my RX330 has the TPMS sensor on all 4 wheels + spare wheel.
anyone who doesnt know CUVs are either FWD or AWD is on a long thing. Even those 'jeeps' comes in either 4WD or RWD guise.

Finally found the culprit and solution

Emperoh:

Bros u need to meet this guy. . . . . .maybe one of these days, anytime you are in Town.

Vibrations haven't totally gone, but i will do a wheel balancing and alignment and see what's up. Then plan to change the disc and brakes again.

I wish Gazzuz will give me the price for a good one.

Emperoh:
Mike,

are you in town?

Got some issues. . . . . .some vibrations at high speed.

Had a learning experience i do like to share here. . . . . .

Car: Lexus ES330
Year: 2005

So over a period of time, i just notice some sort of vibration on my car starting at 60km/hr.
Was quite disturbing since no amount of wheel balancing and alignment solved my problem. I think i even reported the case here.

Went to my mechanic and did a test drive with him. Closer observation showed weak front Stabiliser linkages and suspension bushings. He suggested they could be the cause. I had both parts changed and then a test drive. This somewhat reduced the vibration but did not solve the problem well enough. Still felt tingles at 70 and increased vibration at 80km upwards.

We fixed to meet following day for closer examination. We discovered a binding brake on left front wheel. One of the Caliper pistons was stuck out and the rubber linings also worn, causing a sort of hydraulic leakage. Mind you, there wasn't any hydraulic shortage too. Mechanic also attributed a type of gripping sound i heard on acceleration from a static position to the binding brake, but didn't specifically say it caused the vibration. We looked for the rubber linings but couldn't find any to re-kit the caliper. I also noticed that the brake discs i bought and changed last December were already warped angry angry sad sad shocked shocked Also, brake pads on the left front wheel totally worn!!

I asked them to couple the legs and let me have my car since they couldn't get the re-kit materials for the caliper. I was already making arrangements to order the part from Lagos when i decided to try out Apo mechanic village (my first time going there since i moved to Abuja). I also gave them all through Thursday to see if they can find a replacement caliper for the car or the rubber kit.

By Friday, with no response from the mechanic guys, i headed to Apo. Got there and took out the offending caliper. No matching part was found, as the most common for the 2005 Camry was single piston caliper, while mine was double piston. I insisted on what i needed. Eventually, some dude came and took the old one and left. Came back 30 minutes later, with my caliper rekitted grin grin. I got a new pair of brake pads and reinstalled on the car.

Meanwhile, i went for another round of wheel balancing before the caliper fix. So i kinda noticed an improved driving with no much vibrations. In fact i drove to the airport and back with no issues the saturday after the Friday i did an alignment. So it was hard for me to pick out that the vibrations were completely gone after the caliper service.

Fast forward 3 weeks later, and a trip to Kaduna inbetween, the vibrations paid me another visit grin angry angry angry
Just returned from an official trip and my car parked for 3 days. I made to move it out for work the next day and i heard this sound like something being let of a strong grip. I paid not much attention to it. Car drove smoothly to work on Thursday. But on Friday, omo, the vibrations came back. I couldn't do much as i left town the following day and returned on Monday morning.

Moved the car out a parked position and heard the same gripping sound again. I decided to pay less attention to it until wknd, and with the benefit of holidays, i would have time for it and to get to the bottom of this nonsense angry angry angry

But on Tuesday, after several rounds and all runs, the car became practically undriveable at any speed beyond 50km/hr. Could see the passenger front seats shaking. None of my two trust mechanics were available. One eventually asked me to return at 2pm since he was engaged. Well, i went to some third guy who works on a number of my colleagues car, who asked to go do an alignment. My insistence it was not an alignment issue was rebuffed. I asked him to refer me to someone and he did. I struck a deal with the alignment guy, if alignment didn't solve the wahala, I won't pay! And he set to work. When he finished, a test drive showed no difference. angry angry

I also noticed that at initial start up, when the wheel is relatively cold, the vibration goes away and return with intensity when hot. Well, i managed the car to my mechanic's workshop and somehow, met him. We fixed an appointment for this morning. He couldn't work on it yesterday as he was busy. I just queued and got fuel, sorted a number internet issues I had, used an ATM and was driving home when i just thought of ringing the second mechanic. Lo, he was back and asked me to come. I bought banana and drove to his shop, i anticipation of a long diagnosis and repair and maybe a sleep over (my car) at his workshop.

He test drove the car and was telling me about considering changing my tires shocked shocked sad sad angry angry lipsrsealed but somehow, noticed that my brakes were binding. We could even perceive some brake odour at shot stops. Lo, the right front wheel was binding. When in drive, the car won't even lunge forward. On neutral on a slope, the car is static. The slight gripping sound on braking also noticed. While i noticed these sounds, it never occurred to me they were the cause of the vibrations.

We dismantled the caliper and discovered one of the pistons were stuck out. Took the caliper to Apo and serviced the caliper and reinstalled. Did a test drive and my car was sailing smoothly at 140km/hr. grin grin cheesy cheesy I will have another set of balancing and alignment later today to solve a slight tingle at 120km. Also planning on changing my rotors once more.

So ends my long story grin grin cheesy

What an experience @emperoh. Sometimes, it could very highly annoying & frustrating when certain problems are difficult to diagnose with exact possible cause. Thank God the nightmare is over.

Driving will be fun again...congratulations

Thanks guys. These things have a way of making you go crazy. I hate niggling issues and much more when they can't be traced.
I will do another balancing to get my smooth cruise back fully!
Doing 160 - 170km/hr on this car 3 weeks ago on my way to Kaduna showed me how much under utilized it has been.

I will also need to sort out the P2241. Will change the the sensor and see what it comes to.
Also, Edu and Mike, please can you show me what the AFS sensor of my car looks like? Been seeing conflicting images.

is the attached what i should be looking for?

It has known problems.

Google problems of 2010 RX350 then you'll know the cons and run away. (Since you're basis of inquiry is mostly based on the negative aspect of the car)

Oh sorry Sir, I didn't get the mention notification that's why I didn't see it.

Its wet outside now, when its dry, I'd take my rear wheel off and snap picture of my AFS height regulating sensor and then compare with what's obtained online for you.
Happy sunday sir.
