U can also search for Phema's name, she posted a budget sheet and also a list of things U shld go with. (Burden of proof)

For the address, most people booked Intown suites..

A birth plan? Do u mean hospital and doctors quotes? If yes then u shld email d Dr of ur choice (I'm assuming you've made up ur mind about that)

Hello Mr Ralph Lauren,

Thanks for the update on the taxes, I was only faintly aware about it. Information is power.

General comment - I would like to sound a note of caution to those that post specific details of their flights on here - date, airline, connecting flights, etc

It's a fairly new trend that I just noticed, and inasmuch as this is a public and anonymous forum, just be careful about this. I don't have a specific case or reason why, I just think its too personal..you don't know who is who.

I think someone had noted this earlier, just thought to bring it up again.

One love. *goes back to lurk mode*

Hi everyone, urgent please.
can anyone help me with the contact of a pediatrician that can help me here in the US. I am still preggy and waiting to give birth in Sept but my 3 year old is been ill for 5 days now.
I have been giving him paracetamol for a while now thinking it was change of environment thingy. But the whole thing got worse, need to get malaria drug for him according to his doctor from Nigeria. But I have discovered I can't get a malaria drug without prescription. Can anyone help me.

I soooo agree with you on that ..... people get so consumed and forget its a public forum where most people use aliases, you don't know who be who!

Even all the lets hook up, lets hook up.... people should be careful! We live in a crazy world!

Hi Tiababy, what city are you in? maybe someone around there or coming there can help you out!

Note to mothers travelling with toddlers and bigger kids always remember to take drugs for your kids especially those that are not readily available in the US and by that I mean 'over the counter'. You would need prescription for Antimalaria, Antibiotics, even ordinary cough and cold drugs sef they sometimes don't sell.

Even on vacation I carry drugs with me! We never pray that our kids get sick but its good to hold just in case!

Why didn't you use Anti Malaria before you travelled? (I usually take back up sef)Besides, how many weeks have you been in the US for? Malaria isn't something to readily treat as they may quarantine your child... He/she may just have the flu just keep temp down by using Tylenol and pat him/her down with a damp cloth. What state in the US?

I am in Ohio. It's so unfortunate I have all other drugs with me except malaria.

U are absolutely correct. People make certain comments which might be interpreted or viewed in a funny light. Then they now post details that could serve as a tracker. Let's not make it harder at POE than it is...

Infact, I have been crying all night. Feel so guilty. He had just recovered for diarrhoea that went on for 2 weeks before I left Nigeria. I don't even know how I overlooked the anti-malaria drug or even missed out taking malaria drug for him. But then, I have done all the wash rag thingy to no avail. The symptoms have gone worse.

I don't know if drugs can be sent via post. Let your hubby send you malaria drugs from naija use expedited. If you take your toddler to the pedi and he's positive for malaria they might quarantine him( don't know sha).
It's well with you.

Eeyah... I really feel for you as my 3 year old too battled the flu and it wasn't funny as it was during the whole ebola period but his ped in NJ said to keep him hydrated and keep temp down. His body was just fighting the virus. The painful part is that I left all my malaria drugs ( both curative and preventive)in my sister's house but she's in Nigeria at the moment. Please anyone travelling today, tomorrow please help out. It's not easy to take care of a sick child when pregnant. God would lay his healing Hands on your child ijn. It is well with you both.

Do you have a doctor in Ohio? speak/plead with him or her to write the prescription for you. Waiting for another 2-3 days for malaria drugs to come to Ohio may be fatal since it started 5 days ago. Else take him to a hospital... from what you described the little boy is really down. Please act fast Malaria kills if it is not treated on time.

Malaria in children esp under 5 children is not something to joke with, if they will quarantine your child, pls so be it...so long as he will be okay, act soon so it doesn't get complicated..is he stooling and vomiting? If yes, get him some ORS and make sure u get the temp down with tepid sponging and pcm/tynelol before reaching the hospital, he has to see the paediatrician as many things could cause fever in children, the tonsils will be checked and more.... Don't panic, just do the right thing soon...Waiting for antimalarials from Nigeria will mean starting treatment Monday of Tuesday if he has malaria which is a big NO..

Take it easy...

If it comes to that yes but please realize that the bill you will be given will require oxygen mask before viewing.

So sorry about your son Tiababy, may God heal him.

As advised earlier, please take travel insurance when traveling with young kids and even the elderly.

Even if you have to go to the hospital, the insurance will cover you.

It cost me 28k for 2 and covers up to 30000 euros for the duration. It is easier to manage costs and situations that way. I used mansard insurance.

Wow, the situation I am is really an eye opener. Would surely do this once I get back home. It's terrible to be in this situation. And I am still grateful it would help so many people prepare for travel with their children. Many thanks for all these contributions.
