Well a Masters Degree is a plus. In most province a Masters Degree student qualifies for a PR after school "if such an individual has a good result afterwards"

And yes you're right. GRACE is needed.

If a VO has a bad morning and an applicant takes the heat irrespective of how good his/her application is, then na village things bi that.

God forbid!

What provinces please..

Google is your friend. Just type in the phrase "tax rates in Canada" and the first link has your answer. Please lets endeavour to use this forum primarily for questions that can't be answered in 15 seconds using Google. Cheers.

One thing to keep in mind: your total tax is the Federal Tax Rate plus the Province Tax Rate.

badtsharpguy:
Who knows the rate for the province of Alberta.

Currently am looking my Tuition for the Baist program , its approximately 15000 for the first one year and 2500 per semester for work placement which is a total of 20000 for the entire programs s an international student .

You will also need a Computer/laptop which will cost you minimum 1200 dollars . computer requirement is minimum 16GB Ram AND CORE 7 with so many other stuffs . That's was the same requirement when i did the computer network admin program .

Lastly, as an international student its a tough spot but dont worry because i think you have all necessary requirement for this program, My tips will be : Make sure your apply Oct 1 which is the first day of application opening and secondly if put on a waiting list don't worry, just use another school for your TRV because it takes 5 months before admission is granted .

If still dont granted admission after you have obtained TRV, still no problem, just show in the school and i will show you the chairman of the program , trust me admission status will change when international student is standing in NAIT building .

Thanks so much pcachuks.

I'll do my best and apply on October 1. For the computer, is it compulsory we buy from the school? what if I have a laptop already that even supersedes their requirements, will it be accepted?.

You've done well by giving me a rough estimate. However, the accommodation in Alberta, is it friendly?....what's the cost estimate for a room that I can stay in?

I'll even write to the school this weekend to get more information.

***Appreciate***

Why not apply to a masters degree since you already have a 2:1? Hope your decision to apply to a PGD is not because it is an easier application? (PGDs are good if you want a very practical-oriented education though grin... But I would argue you should try for a masters since you have the grades for it.)

@adNEXT, in most provinces PGD and masters have similar advantages for immigration purposes. Ontario is heavily populated with new immigrants and as such may be slightly different, yet a PGD still doesn't stop your PR eligibility in that province. If you want detailed info about PR eligibility after school, you might have to Google each province's PR programs or bring up the question in this thread.

One of the factors... Can you help me with names of schools...? Thanks oo
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by thesoj: 3:41pm On Aug 07, 2015
If you are planning on going for your masters in January, you need to move very fast and apply already! Given that most schools take 6-12 weeks to decide on applications I think it will be tough and near-impossible to apply for a visa (average 8 weeks processing time) on time and meet the resumption date. I recommend you adjust your plans and apply for September 2016 instead.

Btw, if your goal is to go to a school with lots of Nigerians then you already know where there is likely to be the highest density of Nigerians: Toronto and Ontario in general; also, from this thread it seems many students go to Memorial University of Newfoundland as well as USaskatchewan and UAlberta. But I would advise that you not limit yourself and the chips will eventually fall into place.

What is your course?

You are welcome.
It depends on your definition of affordable. In any case, see this pdf file for a comprehensive list of all post-secondary and PGD programs in Canadian colleges. Look through the pdf for all the schools that offer your course, then go to each website and see their annual tuition costs.

@richcasey, please could you add this pdf link to your list? it would be helpful to all prospective PGD applicants moving forward.
@adNEXT, universities also offer few PGDs and you can search for those here.
