Can someone help in solving these with explanations please... If 25 bricklayers will spend 5 days to lay 25 000 blocks, how many days will 40 bricklayers take to lay 32 000 blocks? Bayos average score in Mathematics, Physics, chemistry and Biology was 67%. However when his score in History was added the average rose to 71%. What was his score in History? |

Abimloaded: Free advise, if u encounter the first question, leave it and later come back to it after you have answered other questions. This is my suggested solution. 25 bricklayers will lay 5000 blocks per day (25000/5) 1 bricklayer will lay (5000/25)= 200 blocks per day. Therefore 40 bricklayer will lay 40*200= 8000 per day. since they lay 8000 per day, it will take them 4 days to lay 32000 blocks. (32000/8000). Answer is 4 days This is more straight forward. Average of the 3 subject is 67. if u add 4 marks to each of them, they rise to 71. 4*3=12 hence 71+12=83. He scored 83. |

Abimloaded:ibadanfinest got the first question.. .. Answer is 4 days, he has given you the solution. Nau the second one is tricky.... what I did was to assume that he scored 67% in the four subjects. That's 67×4=268. To get the score for the last subject that'll make his average 71% will be : 268+X÷5 =71 Cross multiply. 268+X=5×71 268+X=355 X=355—268 X=87.. I COULD BE WRONG THO. LEGITLAYO: You actually made a mistake. How come your divisor is 5 when all the subjects are 4 in numbers. using your logic Total score of the first 3 subjects 67*3= 201 201+x/4=71 201+x=4*71 201+x=284 x= 284-201 x= 83 prove 83+67+67+67 divided by 4 284/4 71. His score in history was 83 |

dpacificheraclx: my brother, I have been left in thinking how I will solve some of tr questions I have came across whilst solving some of the past questions without calculator. I think the issue of not allowing calculator is another way of debar-ing the candidates the chance to answer questions correctly and not because of examination malpractice because there are questions you can't solve easily without the use of calculator in these questions. God help us... |
