I was never treated less than my brother and this is just not in our house but with cousins, family friends, etc. My dad would say 'I am not spending all this money on school fees just to be a 'wife'. My sister tells me that she misses dad cos dem no born anyone to be asking 'oko nko' questions when daddy was around. I agree though that he was a bit of a maverick and always questioned norms. You should see him arguing with Alfas on issues( my mum would be giving him daggers from where she was sat).But even at that most of those I grew up with knew that the next thing after school was to pursue a career then marriage came along. Not marriage alone. My mum could not wrap her head round me deciding to stay at home for 2 years.


I have a friend who was dating an older guy and the guy kept pestering her for marriage when she was in 200 level. Her dad chased him away from his office on the first day he went to meet him. The guy sha persisted and her dad said wait till she graduates. After graduation it was wait till she finished NYSC, after NYSC wait till she gets a job.She got a job with GTB and bobo went back to Dad, he said I want her to do her masters first. And this guy worked at Shell( am not telling porkies here) so its not like he was struggling or something and not capable of taking of her financially. His rationale was now they will get married and she will start popping babies and not be able to do her masters again. At this point na delegation dem send o. After much begging sha he agreed but she had actually started the masters by the time they had the wedding.

My dad was very similar and na delegation from other members of my family that they had to send to allow me marry before I did my masters.

I beleive that NL does not truthfully capture reality when it comes to relationships
If I were to beleive all that I read here, weddings will be only one a year event in Nigeria and Tayour who makes weddding cakes will have had to retrain to be a tailor

By NL standards all/most men are local bush men and most/all women are bitcheees

Yet many of us are married . . peacefully too.

My personal opinion;.. .. . There are good and bad people out there. Like attracts like, and you cant sow maize and reap yam.
Its very simple and I sincerely feel sorry for anyone who picks up things here and thinks its the norm, and putting their common sense to one side.

I also feel sorry for those who use all their energy and all their time fighting imaginary "enemies". . .when do you want to relax and enjoy your life with your partner?

Efin ni wa. Many of these men have given signs of who they are, so why follow them. Annie cannot expect tuface to be loyal to the end. If he is loyal its because he wants to and not because she wants him to.

A man stealing from his employers cannot be loyal to you. He has no sense of honesty or integrity and is easily tempted.

A man whose driver gets to his house at 6am and takes him to work, then oga takes the key from the driver and expects the driver to sit in the sun all day and wait until 10pm to take oga home after he has spent hours in bars, cannot show you any empathy . . .its not in his veins.

The man who gave the danfo driver a big slap while the danfo driver was apologising becasue he slighty scratched his car, will give you a big slap the day you accidentaly burn his clothes when ironing them. You marry an agbero and expect a gentleman at home.

These are little little things that our women miss but then cry foul later down the line.
Look before you leap and there wont be so many stories that touch.
