U ar not a serious person honestly. U studied course for 4 or 5years still you don't know your prospect in that course., shame on you, you just wasted your parent money n efforts to send you to school. U lied that you have 2.2 and still want to go for Pgd. People like you are disgracefu to Nigeria system of education.

I'm a 2.1 graduate of industrial physics, though with good prospects but the unemployment rate in Nigeria doesn't recognize what u actually studied.

that's cool i also teach in a private school before coming for my service but am thinking of doing my pdg and master which i intend doing abroad do you have any link on that Sir

Abroad ke ? Apply for scholarship nah.

But I will advice you to start making money, get a bank job or oil coy, then start amassing skills in various endeavors..

I was with a federal worker today and some people walked in looking for employment. My host was like people are looking for thesame work for which the workers are already tired of doing. Amassing skills is the highest of all..

There are Limited chances in Secondary schools where they teach physics.

PS: If you are looking for a white collar job where they annouce that Physics graduate are needed, they are non-existence.

I'm a Physics graduate with a 2.1. And I'm targetting the following Industries. IT, Telecoms (did an internship with a telecoms equipment manufacturer) and oil and gas.
With the research I've done so far; the opportunities are limitless! So be strong and do your research well. Of all the pure sciences, Physics and Mathematics are the best(my opinion tho)!
Chemistry must be included.

Thanks bro I intend on doing Msc in biophysics or medical physics hope I won't have to do Pgd any idea of schools running Msc in such program in Nigeria thanks bro

I do not have an idea of which institution offers biophysics or medical physics for MSc in Nigeria.I will advise you ask friends studying in other institutions nationwide and seek the opinion of your lecturers.

The following institutions listed below offer physics as first degree course and you can start your search from there.

OAU,UI,UNIBEN,UNILAG,FUTA,FUTMINNA,FUTYOLA,UNIJOS,UNICAL,ABU,FUTO,UNN,UYO,ATBU,UNIABUJA,DELSU,UNIMAID,UNAAB. and option of travelling abroad to study. All the best in your academic endeavors.

I study electronics and computer technology under physics...what are the chances of enjoying same privilege with pure physics graduates?

I'm also a fresh Graduate of Physics and Education.
I'm also considering Medical Physics as an option. Currently serving, and will do my M.Sc program immediately after NYSC. Geophysics or Medical physics are my options. Which schools offer the course @M.Sc level, and what are the job prospects of a medical physicist?
Re: What's My Chance As A Physics Graduate In The Job Market by oseo1(m): 2:02am On Aug 14, 2015
I studied mathematics and physics, in an ideal world a physicist can work in almost any industry however I'd say look into oil and gas, telecoms, commercial banking and investment banking. If you plan to go to grad school then decide what you want to do as a career and pick a program that will help you in that area.

Medical physics is great, it is the future of cancer treatment, there are tons of opportunities in that area, however to be honest I don't know of how advanced we are in nigeria in that area (Radiotherapy) I've actually never heard of it here. So you might be limiting yourself to imaging (mris, ultrasounds and things like that) if you plan to work here in naija.

I would recommend nuclear physics if you plan to go abroad to study, there is a lot of funding out there plus the Nigerian government is allegedly considering a nuclear power plant, plus the nuclear regulatory authority is almost always looking for qualified staff.

Seunwen2, As bad as this suggestion might seems...but it'll give u a credible stance of enhancing ur physics ideas and perhaps more job opportunities... I'm a graduate of pure physics and I've had a friend who delve into mechanics and it become easier, as it is now...he's working with one of the biggest oil companies in this country!. The mechanic is to cover classical mechnics and quantum mechnics... Which if you've had good knowledge of these courses will literally help u to understand the practical explanations.
.
.
We've got astrology which is still physics, but it has in recent times been change to science of the universe. This course is very simple abut not common in this part of the world. And America and other bodies that supports scientific researches have been pushing funds to support any research on astrology and discoveries on any planets or galaxies and or blackholes and many physicist and paving their ways to accomplish this.
.
.
Again, you can go into sound production.... Which is also a branch of physics..."Sounds and waves"... With this you can generate and understand sounds and decibels and sound productions and reduction of echo in a hall will make u earn cash.. I remember ones a church needed a physicist that will be able to set speakers in the church auditorium in a way that it won't produce echoes when the church is filled..and the amount stake was a million naira!
.
.
What am trying to say is that... You just have to chose one or more physics courses that u understand very well... And do the practical part of it and u'll end big cash.

It all depends on the way you view it.if you have a part time or full time job,job searching or you have a business you are handling I will advise you do your MSc at NOUN as long as the course is accredited.

However, if you are not fully occupied with a job or business I will advise you do your MSc programme in any institution offering the course you have interest in close to your location.

I am actually hoping to get a job soon, also getting few certifications also. But the msc I might end up at noun due to it's flexibility.

Thanks a lot... God bless..

Physics is a very strong course. If you made a 2.1 your chances are even juicier. You can apply to oil companies especially servicing companies as either a petrophysicist or a geophysicist. You can also further for your masters in geophysics. A lot of scholarship opportuinities there. With a course like physics, your options are unlimited. Provided ypu made a good grade shaa..
for naija seriously?
