I have reading Nairaland topics since 2014 as a "guest" and i just decided to join fully as a member.(i love barcanista posts)

I am from Ogwashi-Uku, in Aniocha South LGA, Delta State.
One of the key things that I want to contribute is Anioma and the Igbo question.
How can a reasonable person say that We are Not Igbos? I noticed some "outsiders" making these Blasphemous statement. What a Funny World.
ANIOMAS is part of the IGBO Nation and We are Proudly IGBOS with the Onitcha people as our ancestral brothers.
The past President of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo is our Son, why will anyone question our Igboness? Our Governor from Ika is Ifeanyi by name and wears a Red Igbo Cap always, We speak Igbo language-dialects- most of the time and we eat Igbo foods because We are Igbos.
Lets throw away Tribalism and Love ourselves.. Lets channel all the hate I have read here into something Productive.

To say Aniocha/Anioma isn't igbo is to say Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Nzeogwu and in an indirect was Nnamdi Azikiwe aren't Igbos.
Anyways, I think this 'debate' has died everywhere outside of the Nairaland politics section.

Your efforts make sense. I was at the World Igbo Congress in 2014, nobody is debating Ika Ikwerre etc. There's absolutely no confusion on the issue what so ever. Igbo bu Igbo

If ibo population made them speak a dialect of ibo like you said where then did the ibo population come from and how come that same ibo population did not have the same effect on Iroko, itsekiri, Ijaw, ibibio, Efik.

That difference in ''language'' is merely a difference in ''dialect''.It cuts across Igboland. The dialect may differ but the language is the same.Same thing in Yoruba. When my Ondo friend starts speaking her dialect no other yoruba person around understands her.She is not speaking a different language;just a dialect of Yoruba that other yoruba speakers are not familiar with.

Nnamdi Azikiwe did not say that his ancestors came from Benin. He only recounted the story his mother told him. Read his book "My Odyssey" again. In that book, he defined himself as an Igbo man.

Nnamdi Azikiwe, a great Igbo leader, always called for Igbo unity and development.

Nnamdi Azikiwe was very intelligent. He did not say that Onitsha people came from Benin. He rather said that his mother told him so. Azikiwe heard a story from his mother, and not his father. Women usually attach emotions to a story, and at the end of the day the story is usually not completely true. That's why Nnamdi Azikiwe intelligently said that it was his mother that told him the story. If he had heard the story from his father, who was the main authority in the family, then it would have been more credible. You can now understand the smartness of Nnamdi Azikiwe.
