All these players that want to shun national team call-ups in exchange for non-existent club careers, e go soon clear for their eye. Even that yeye, 400th division club want to Granada (verb, as in destroy right?) Godwin too abi? It is well, I hope these decisions are for the best. Apparently, Mikel's set had far more patriotic players than these kids.
Lol.

Iheanacho, Ibe stepping up the EPL challenge

By: PIUS ANAKALI
Nigerians are known for their love for the English Premier League. From kids on the street up the governor on the seat of power, the allure of the English premiership is very visible.
The massive following was engendered by the likes Austin Jay Okocha and Kanu Nwankwo and sustained by Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and Osaze Odemwingie.
But with recent dip in form of Moses, who is being tipped for a move away from Stamford Bridge, while Osaze has continued to be plagued by injuries and Mikel who has become a perpetual bench warmer, many has been asking where are the Nigerians, especially with Brown Ideye and Keneath Omeruo also fizzling out.
While many are still wondering if the Ideye and Omeruo will ever make it big in the premier league, the duo of Jordan Ibe and Kelechi Iheanacho are getting in the limelight.
Yesterday, Iheanacho made his English Premier League debut for Manchester City in a 2-0 win over Odion Ighalo’s Watford.
The 18-year-old Iheanacho was an 89th minute substitute for Raheem Sterling, the high flying player who scored City first goal.
Prior to the match, Iheanacho admitted he is desperate to break into the senior side after proving that he can make an impact.
Now that he has made his debut, the question to be asked is will he sustain the tempo?
The other Nigerian steadily moving up the ladder in Liverpool’s Jordon Ibe. Ibe has featured for Brendan Rodgers team since the beginning of the season and has not disappointed. He was in the fray in Liverpool’s 0-3 loss to West Ham on Saturday.
The young man man who has pledged his future to Nigerian was snapped up by Liverpool Academy from Wycombe Wanderers at the end of 2011 and is seen as a great prospect for the future, having risen quickly through the ranks.
The talented youngster, who can play up front or out on the wing, started his Anfield career at the Academy and began life at Liverpool with the U18 squad,.
The wide-man possesses a combination of phenomenal speed and powerful upper-body strength, with his growth earning a place in the first-team squad that travelled to North America on pre-season tour in 2012.
After a series of outstanding displays in the FA Youth Cup, the then 17-year-old was handed a senior debut by Brendan Rodgers on the final day of the 2012-13 season and impressed at Anfield with an energetic display which included an assist for the winning goal.
Ibe subsequently participated in a second successive tour with the Reds – this time to Indonesia, Australia and Thailand in the summer of 2013 – and once more caught the eye with performances worthy of the first team.
Now a semi-permanent fixture in the manager’s matchday squads, Jordon is aiming to emulate the achievements of Raheem Sterling by establishing himself in Rodgers’ plans during the years to come.
As part of that development and to further increase his experience, Ibe temporarily joined Championship side Birmingham City in February 2014 in a loan deal until the end of the campaign, helping the Blues to avoid relegation.
He travelled to America with the Reds for another pre-season summer tour ahead of the 2014-15 campaign, during which he represented Derby County after agreeing a season-long stay at Pride Park.
Midway through the loan spell, on January 15, 2015, manager Rodgers recalled Ibe from the Championship outfit and the youngster returned to Melwood to rejoin his Liverpool teammates.
A series of mature displays meant Ibe was soon considered an important part of the boss’ set-up and he committed his long-term future to Anfield by signing a new contract as the campaign concluded.

Nigeria U23 striker Junior Ajayi in action
by Samm Audu
Egyptian champions Zamalek have stepped up their pursuit of Nigeria U23 striker Junior Ajayi.
Owner of 36 Lion Liameed Gaffar, who represents Junior Ajayi, informed AfricanFootball.com Zamalek are now leading the chase for the promising striker.
“Zamalek are now the most serious club after Junior, but we will have to wait and see how things play out after the All Africa Games,” Gaffar disclosed.
Emmanuel Amuneke famously featured for Zamalek before he headed to Europe.
Gaffar and the player have already discussed with Tunisian clubs Esperance and CS Sfaxien over a transfer, but both proposals eventually hit the rocks.
“Tunisia would have been one big step towards Junior moving to Europe, but we could not eventually agree on a contract with both Esperance and Sfaxien,” he said.

Iorfa hopes England U21 boss makes him better defender

Iorfa (right) in action for Wolves
Wolves defender Dominic Iorfa has said he hopes England U21 coach Gareth Southgate, who was a defender in his playing days, will make him a better player.
“My ambition at international level was to break into the Under-21 squad this season but I didn’t know it would be this early,” Iorfa said.
“Obviously, there is a big turnover of players because some are now too old for this age group and we have just come out of the European Championships in the summer.
“I watched all the games from the Czech Republic in the summer, when Carl Jenkinson played at right-back, and was delighted to receive a text from the FA early a few mornings ago telling me I was in this squad.
“I met Gareth Southgate at a training camp at St George’s over the summer and hope, as a highly respected former defender, he can help me further my game.
“I roomed with Kortney for the under-20s, with Ady Boothroyd in charge, and assume we will travel over there together on Sunday if he is going from round here.”
The U21s face the United States in a friendly at Preston on Thursday, before visiting Norway the following Sunday at the start of Euro qualifying.

It is time people like you get something right. Those guys are even better than the hype. That is why people like me are pissed with Manu Garba. From choosing Germany as their camp, a summer weather to play a tournament in Subzero temperature.

It became a tough task for them. Then the. Coach and his crew chose to drop their star players and sabotaged them with poor tactics.

If they were so poor, do you think there would be cases of clear sabotage? The sabotage started frm their camp venue.

The Flying Eagles did not get a fair chance and Manu Garba knows the truth. If he retains his job, the NFF were part of the sabotage of the greatest U20 team I have seen.

Perhaps the most talented or should I say the team with the grestest potential of all Naija U20 teams I have seen.

The 1989 U20 team remain the greatest team I have seen... The cup eluded them no thanks to Fatigue
The 2005 team comes second cos they matched every opponents skill for skill, brut for brut..
The 2015 had it all but will for a long time remain the Greatest Underachievers... The 89 and 05 teams may top in physicality but Man for Man the 15 team remains most talented Nigeria u20 team I have ever seen

Man City axe Iheanacho from Champions League squad

Iheanacho (right) will not feature in this season's Champions League for City
by Samm Audu
Nigeria starlet Kelechi Iheanacho will not feature in this season’s UEFA Champions League after he was left out by Manchester City from their 25-man squad.
UEFA limit the foreign players in a squad to 17 and with the arrival of Belgium international Kevin de Bruyne and Argentina’s Nicolas Otamendi, Iheanacho had to make way.
The English Premier League has similar rules, but they are more relaxed, allowing any number of players aged under 21 to be added to the 25-man squad.
UEFA's rule is more strict, stipulating that an under-21 player must have been at the club for two consecutive years before they become a “free” addition to the squad.
Iheanacho finally joined the club in February after working through a long-winded work permit process, meaning he will not qualify as an under-21 player until February 2017, when he will be 20.
However, there was better luck for Iheanacho’s compatriots Mikel Obi at Chelsea and Ahmed Musa at CSKA Moscow as both made the final squads of their respective clubs for the Champions League.

German Bundesliga two side FSV Frankfurt have said they are excited to land Nigeria youth international Taiwo Awoniyi on loan from Liverpool.
FSV Frankfurt head coach Tomas Oral said the 18-year-old forward is a talented player who wishes to take his game to the next level.
"Taiwo Awoniyi is a very talented player who wishes to take the next step with us, to be recommended for the Premier League. A young Under-20 international, we will groom cautiously," he told the club website.
In same vein, the club manager, Clemens Krüger was proud to have the Nigeria youth international at the club.
"We are proud to partner with a big club like Liverpool, the talks in recent days were very good. Taiwo Awoniyi is a young player, to whom we offer the next development opportunity," he offered.
The FIFA U17 world champions will play for FSV Frankfurt on loan till June 30, 2016, with an option for a further year by Liverpool.
The contract applies to the first and second Bundesliga.
Awoniyi too is eager to show his class at the German club.
