Lucifer, before being cast out, was the Manifestation of light, life, and day. He was one of two entities representing light and dark. The other was Azrael, the angel of darkness, death. One could not be without the other. Thus when Lucifer fell so did Azrael. In heaven none have filled those places at the side of God. Other's took thier lesser duties in heeaven. And that left Azrael with his main affinity of death, and he became the horseman of death. And Lucifer/now Satan the demon of light.
