That's quite unfortunate. But i'm very optimistic everything will be fine. Which school are you going to in Berlin?
, Freie Universitat, when was your visa application?

I think you need b2 bro.with b2 its easy buh b1 its luck..they pay more attention to people with b2 level of Deutsch sprache..
filimontana:
The admission is very easy lol. No competition like med... still you need studienkolleg, M course. Have you started the language course? You need B1.

Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by filimontana: 1:57pm On Sep 28, 2015
You can apply for admission with B1, that's the required level. But you are right, with B2 it is easy and with B1 if you study hard and believe in yourself, why not? It has nothing to do with luck, but your ability.

If it is a student visa appointment, scan your admission letter, information page of your international passport and proof of financial means to rk-visa105@lago.diplo.de. it takes less than 24hrs to get a reply

if its any other visa, you have to book through the embassy's website.

hope you find this helpful
pls how does the sponsorship work..... Hw can i get an organization sponsporship. do elaborate more on dis thanks

Hello house!
Is this all about an appointment confirmation? There's no time mentioned:
"Hereby we would like to inform you that due to the high demand on student visa appointments a next student appointment will be allocated for 30.10.2015 and visa processing time takes 6 weeks after interview. We need the consent from the Aliens Authority at your future place of residence in Germany in order to issue a student visa for you and can therefore not speed up the visa process deliberately."

Did you apply for an appointment?
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by ttryan237: 4:53pm On Sep 28, 2015
Yes I did. Actually I'm a Cameroonian and this is my first time on this forum.
For the past 3 months I have been trying to book a stud visa appointment through the online appointment booking portal of the German Embassy in Yaounde, Cameroon to no avail. Even wrote several emails with no positive reply. So I tried Lagos with my docs and got the above response. However, it also stated in the same reply that I should contact my university to find out the possibility of getting an enrollment extension letter which I did and forwarded the letter to the same consular email address on Thursday. Haven't read from them since then.
Just wondering if their first email to me is enough for the appointment. thanks

No, it is not enough, they are trying to discourage you with it because they know it is almost impossible to meet up the winter semester at this time. What date is the extension and when will lecture commence?

I am really happy for you. I pray everything works out perfectly. The admission is the main thing for you now. Once you get that, you are good to go.

I tell you, there are many funding opportunities for Phd students here, and you have 90% chance of being recruited as a research assistant while your programme is on. So you might end up not spending your money for the whole duration of the programme.

Truth be told, if you get your Phd here, you don blow be that. Just keep it real and be yourself. Baba God full ground for you.

Keep me updated. Cheers!

but why should one spend his/her own money on a PhD in a developed country? It beats my imagination.

Williams, only you de flex for Kiel baaa...diarizzzzzzzzzzzzzzGod oh!

You have nothing to worry about. Just go and resume in the school you want. Your permit will bear the school you register with and not the school on your visa smiley

is eastern germany that bad, no wonder the school was mailing that extentiuon has been granted if i still get intrest, is eastern germany that bad, pple are running away from there, are there no oppotunities there, i can see that pple are runing,
Not always that bad, magdeburg for instance is about the cheapest living environment in Germany and a cool town to live in, also Berlin the capital is in east Germany. A guy here on nairaland in thread 1, has had nothing but praises for lebiniz area, the beauty and the hospitality, contrary to popular opinion about the entire eastern Germany. So obviously not all areas in east Germany should be this stereotyped.

@Obiwann, PhD in Germany and some European countries might be different. Try the UK,the US,Canada,Australia and New Zealand, then it wouldn't beat your imagination again why someone will want to go to Germany on self funding. Considering that one doesn't have to pay tuition fees and that there are scholarship opportunities while doing a PhD in Germany, I still consider it worthwhile to start with self-funding and then work hard to get scholarships or a teaching/research assistant position.

If I started my PhD in the UK after my MSc in 2012,I would be paying 9000 pounds per year in tuition and spending around 7000 pounds per year in living expenses. But in Germany, there's nothing like tuition fees. I also feel it is better to start with the self-funding and try very hard to impress the professor so that he or she can go for the external funding for me. At the moment, I have not worked under the professor before,he or she doesn't know my capabilities now and might be reluctant to work on getting a fund.

You should not have problem switching. You just need to head on straight to your desired school. However, note that the Alien Office in your new school will have to contact your former Alien office that issued your visa to transfer e-copy of your file with them (it could take up to 2 weeks) after which you can apply for the visa extension in your new desired School. Hope you get it? Same thing applied to me before i finally settle in Bremennn

You don't need Studienkolleg if you have ND or you can show a first year transcript from any Uni.
