It's very possible to change to a preferred course/sch during studies when ure there. A friend told me of a guy that even transferred from a school nd state cos the place was damn too dry to another school Whc is a high profile sch in a city. So it's possible It all depends on what u want for urself nd d choices u mk

@Obiwann, PhD in Germany and some European countries might be different. Try the UK,the US,Canada,Australia and New Zealand, then it wouldn't beat your imagination again why someone will want to go to Germany on self funding. Considering that one doesn't have to pay tuition fees and that there are scholarship opportunities while doing a PhD in Germany, I still consider it worthwhile to start with self-funding and then work hard to get scholarships or a teaching/research assistant position.

If I started my PhD in the UK after my MSc in 2012,I would be paying 9000 pounds per year in tuition and spending around 7000 pounds per year in living expenses. But in Germany, there's nothing like tuition fees. I also feel it is better to start with the self-funding and try very hard to impress the professor so that he or she can go for the external funding for me. At the moment, I have not worked under the professor before,he or she doesn't know my capabilities now and might be reluctant to work on getting a fund.

Check out Humboldt, Maybe they give out scholarships for PhD. I only know of post doc.

Bro, first and foremost, I read a lot of pessimism in this write-up. What makes you think you cannot get a straight scholarship/R.A fund without having to go through the paid route first?
Secondly, when mentioning possible PHd or even MSc destinations, biko don't mention UK. Those guys are just after your money as their educational sector is one of the major if not the major stream of income for their economy.
Thirdly, Aussie and New Zeland have not been known for MSc/PHD funding anyway, although they have some schools with scholarships that can only be accessed purely on merit.
Fourthly, I don't know where you got your info from, but the US is the numero uno when it comes to PHD funding. I think you need to do more research and don't look at Ivy league schools only.
Last but not the least, even if I get the money, I would not self sponsor myself for a PHD. No, I would not try that. I would rather do a 2nd Msc, free tuition of course, then go find job hustle...

Alles gut mein freund!

Hey guy anyone with info on how to apply and obtain scholarships for engineering in MSC program should please assist... Got admission to Rostock University for dis winter program but couldn't make and had to defile the admission to April 2016. So am hoping to start applying for scholarships since I already have my admission letter in hand.... So any useful info would be greatly appreciated..!!
German schools no dey give scholarships before resumption. They only give after you have spent at least a semester with them and have significantly higher grades than your peers, at least that is how my school put it.
For such scholarships you're referring to, visit daad.de. There are some scholarships there, although I doubt if you'd be eligible for most, as thry require a certain level of German knowledge, A2 to B1 in most cases. I know however that there is daad scholarship, and that it doesn't have these bottlenecks, but again your CGPA has to be strong, and it's only open for Winter semester.
Do some digging amigo, despite the negativities, you just might still hit gold.

Bros please throw more light on this. won't the Aliens office request for a proof of financial means especially when you've already gone one semester and your funds have been depleted by virtue of that?

About this upcoming event: I spoke to the Social Director of the Association through the number on the poster and he told me theres nothing like gate fee or entrance fee for the event. Food and drinks very plenty for all. However, it is expected that all members coming for the event would have paid their annual due of 20Euros. For non-members, voluntary contribution is welcome but not compulsory.

So, lets make it date!

See you guys, God willing.

@Obiwann, the writeup might look pessimistic but I am not. Lol. There are scholarships in the US but people still pay tuition fees for PhD studies. I have Nigerian friends there and I must tell you that I have been on the search for PhD research studentships in waste management. I understand your point, there are many PhD scholarships in Germany for someone to have his own PhD started with self-funding. Know also that most of those PhDs are advertised PhDs. The truth is that my area of specialisation, waste management rarely have phd positions advertised. And not many universities have courses in waste management. As I said before, it took me 3 years to see a supervisor interested in my topic. Do I blow that chance because of funding? I really don't want to go for another MSc. I think the money I will use to fund the MSc should be used to start the PhD and with the help of God and all of you in here,I will be able to get a scholarship or research assistant position while doing the PhD research. This is my thought, anyway. What do you think? Please, let me know if you find any university around your city that offer courses in waste management.

Feeling fine on wine, and I’m so drunk i’m out of my mind.
But i’m looking forward to the time, when the almighty mail hits my gmail.
This waiting, this waiting is killing me
This waiting, this waiting is killing me.

Four weeks yesterday, she ought to here before today.
What more can i say, than to bend my knees and pray?
This waiting, this waiting is killing me
This waiting, this waiting is killing me.

Spread out on the bed, there’s nothing else in my head.
Pour another drink, maybe it’ll help me stop to think
This waiting, this waiting is killing me

Read basics and extensively on two subjects that are very related to your course. It is not written alone but both written and oral interview most especially if you are going for BSc

Then prepare for both. (Written and oral interview). Infact, if your interview is going to be conducted by the chinko woman, you will first of all write test before proper oral interview.
