No, it won't. Like me now, my final destination is Washington DC and later Texas but I booked Arik to New York and would take bus to DC and bus to Texas and other places I will later visit. You can entre through any POE so far you are holding a valid US Visa. Although it is 27 hours drive to Colorado but you can take a flight from NY to Colorado which is estimated between $190 - $521 according to farecompare.com or use cheapflights.com.
Really ? And I won't be questioned why not heading to where I told the vo at the interview at the POE ?

Thanks for this info. Please I am travelling to Denver, Colorado, is it possible for me to fly airkair since it lands in NY, and besides, I told the VO I was going to Colorado. Will I not encounter issues at the POE if I end up in NY through Arik ?
Thanks

Please always guard your self for any eventuality. It depends on the cbp officer. He has the right to question your change of plan not that you are doing any thing illegal. It is an inviting open doors for more or unnecessary questions. Be guarded and have reasonable reasons for such changes.

Please read other treads concerning issues on point of entry. Remember I said it is not illegal but very inviting for more questions. You may still be luçky to meet some one that wouldn't mind

Good Luck

Yes you have the right to enter any point of entry in u.s however, the fact is you are a visitor and the cbp officer has every right to stop you and interrogate you unnecessary soly because of that. This may even lead to other questions concerning your journey and may lead to Secoundary inspection. My friend it is not friendly to go through that process.

I was interrogated on a secoundary inspection both in u.s and canada and they are both nightmare. Telling some with easy that there is no issues should be taught all over again

Good Luck

British Airways is the cheapest at the moment with a fare of N306,564. I assume you're departing from Lagos.

Pls I have a serious concern about Arikair airlines/planes. As u all know that people will always manage in Nigeria, companies, individuals, etc. Can someone trust airkair planes that their instrument (planes) won't be managed before it departs an international take off/flight ? I hope u understand mypoint. We all know that American airlines, BA, Airfrance airlines will never manage their planes, but can we trust Nigeria owned airline, Arikair planes that the planes are in good condition before flying ? Also, their pilots ? U know an average company in nigeria will always employ a cheap labourer. Can Arikair be trusted in terms of a safety flight to NY, USA ?
Honest answers pls

I got your point but one can always explain him/herself as to the reason of change of POE and I want to believe the CBP officers will understand as long as you are honest with your explanation and they can verify it.

While I am in no way forcing my opinion on anyone, however, anyone who want to make use of my suggestion must be ready to take the full responsibilities for the action that comes thereafter.

Please note that I am not speaking directly or indirectly for arikair but this is my account of been on their flight enroute LOS-NYC-LOS economy and I have never enjoyed any flight like that. Food OK, drinks OK (ask for more and u do be given) and chat session with other passengers at the bar of the flight was awesome and made the flight very interesting. No mess up whatsoever.

Good day Everyone
I am presently studying in Europe(last year of my masters programme) i wish to apply for a B1/B2 visa in lagos (appointment scheduled already), my cousin would send the invitation and he will also be sponsoring the trip.
my great concerns
1. Wont i be asked why didnt i apply from europe? Reason(short TRP validity), but i think its not advisable for me to say this, WHAT CAN I SAY?
2. What are the likely questions i would be asked?
3. What documents do i need to get from my cousin?
4. what documents do i need to prepare myself and take to the interview?

Please i need urgent and helpful responses
Thanks a bunch.

Changing the location makes no difference. You'll have to address the possible reasons for the first two denials. Did you use an agent? Perhaps you can share your transcript with us if you still remember the details.

What do you mean by 'migration form'? The lottery? If it's the lottery, they understand that a lot of people attempted and didn't win. It does not make you a potential immigrant.

Truth is if you had taken the time to read the thread like thegreengooner suggested, all these questions have already been answered. I'm sure it gets tiring saying the same thing over and over. For example, your first question has sorta been answered by LagosNIV on this thread.

LagosNIV:

Not quite - you need ties outside of the U.S.
If you work in Germany, and are married to a German, and have German children, but you yourself are a Nigeria... you are probably going to have better ties to Germany. And that is fine, but we also recommend that people in a situation like this apply in Germany.
On the other hand, if you are a Nigerian student in the UK, you probably don't have many ties in UK and need to consider applying for your visa in Nigeria where your ties are well established.

Another way out is to look through a specific persons posts, like LagosNIV or LadyG, if you don't want to go through the thread.

The migration petition is different from tourism visa. If you are asked, yes you will include the details. Since your situation has changed to married status, she your (your sister) has to update the change of status with USCIS if you want to get the emigrant visa together.

Having said that, do you know the type of petition she did? As sister or what? Very important to know because it gives you clearer view of the processing time for such petition.

As for you tourism visa, or as it is said b1/b2 visa, you have to check circumstances used to denial you. Has it changed, what other conditions do you have. Change of circumstance is very important because you will still face same results. Meaning you can't just apply without improving your formal status.

Good Luck

Migration form is an emigrant petition from her sister. She didn't use the right terms anyways

Applying from a non resident location is not always advisable. Yes you are a nigerian, but the fact is by the virtue of your student status in europe changes your situation. You are suppose to apply from their not here in Nigeria.

You should come up with an explanation because you can't misrepresent and no one in this forum will give you such advise.

2. The documents from your counsin does not really matter as a common letter of invitation depending on what he is inviting you for should clearly be stated.

3. The most important factor is you. You and you only has the burden to prove you are a genuine tourist and that you will go back and finish your studies. You have to prove that to the VO.

4. Your student documents such as student card, Work visa from your resident country if any and all that proves you are a genuine student in europe will do. Also you should have a bank account in that country and possibly a credit card. You need to present all those.

Good Luck

I really appreciate your comment cozybunch, thanks a bunch.
i actually thought of applying from here(Europe) but i have just 4months left on my residence permit. which if i should apply with that, might give the VO a wrong impression of me staying back in the states.
so i was advised by someone to apply from Nigeria been my home country and that would still show the tie to my country. Guess it wasnt a bad advise?
what do you feel about this?

Thanks

This was exactly what happened to me last year, during the interview I said I was going to Chicago(the VO even asked if I was going direct to Chicago and I said YES) but when purchasing my ticket my travel agent routed it in a way that I arrived in New York but departure to Lagos was from Chicago. But to be truthful I was grilled a bit(i travelled with two friends and they were through in like 10 seconds but I stayed longer),mind you I wasn't asked why I changed to new york(maybe cos my ticket showed Chicago as my departure port).
I don't think you'd have issues but just have a good explanation ready. All the best

Go to u.s consulate website and down load the forms and follow prons.

You have strong ties which is good. The concern I see is the sponsorship part.

You can enter the US through any point of entry. The officials are aware that sometimes travellers take connecting flights. You can explain that you will be travelling by road or air to your destination and that you want some travelling experience

thanks for your response, she(my sister) applied for me as a sister for the emigrant visa for over two years but the status says "we have received your petition"...for the non immigrant visa, the first time we went i and my baby couldn't go through with the interview because because of our barcode which didn't appear right, but my husband went through and didn't get the visa . the second time we re-applied was after two weeks but didn't get the visa...the VO said we didn't do anything wrong but there are rules and regulation the usa embassy abide to.

Ok.
So we'll take ut step by step.
1. Be prepared to show why granny is going to the US. Which value (sentimental, religious, cultural, family etc) she'll add to the naming ceremony

2. Be prepared to convince VO granny is incapable of travelling alone (age, illiteracy etc) hence why u need to accompany her afterall some Aged people travel alone

3. The likelihood of mama absonding is zero to nil but u? Your eye fit red cheesy. So now the issue of ties and finances come to play.
What do u do for a living?
Do u have a steady source of income?
Much as you do not have a fat statement are you guys comfortable? If yes
Then its ok for your uncle to sponsor your trip cos u guys are going at his behest.

4. It might also help if u have prior travel history and to be prepared to sgow why u are willing to leave ur job just to accompany granny to the Us. Issit that ur job isn't important?
Chaii! I don born again oooooooo! grin
