This is a national problem and should not be domesticated or reduced to Fulani/Yoruba crisis. I am not against the notion that the Yorubas and others should defend their homeland but we should also be mindful it's a national problem.

The fact that you applied the use of "brain over brawn" illogically shows you lack the brain and cerebral prowess for anything. You sound like an illiterate.

Pray tell how you would use ya brain after you have been hacked to death by marauding cow jockeys for absolutely no reason whatsoever? The only reason why you have the audacity to spout nonsense is cos none of ya family members is at the receiving end of such cruelty. If ya brother or sister had been hacked to death - you wouldn't be posting nonsense.

Are Fulani herdsmen the only ones who supply meat? Even if they're, is that enough reason to start killing folks everywhere all over their farmlands? They can keep their meat - there are always alternatives everywhere.

Just shut up...you and your ilk are the reason why Yorubas are treated like slaves everywhere. You lot have got the definition of brain and sophisticated all messed up due to stupidity and illiteracy. The masters of brain over brawn and strategy in the West know that violence begets violence - and you must never appear weak or vulnerable to ya opponents/enemies. That's how white folks have been able to dominate the world for a long time.

I have never liked you at all (not that it matters to you or me ) you curse a whole frigging lot but this POST among many others you have made on this thread is #GOD'S OWN TRUTH, i couldn't say it differently if i tried.
I may have misjudged you.
As for the mentally impotent and delusional sophisticate you were addressing it has never occurred to her/him(whatever) that in the event of a major blow up with the fulanis, over these killer herdsmen the south , (and i admit this with great reluctance) specifically the south west[looking at oyo state] , is in a position to compleatly spin a new economy of the situation:
IF BEAF MUST BE HAD, any agricultural investor who goes into modern ranching in enugu ,oyo ,crossriver with all that it entails will attain "dangote" like status in very shot order.
I am a systems and control engineer but looking at things from a technical perspective how hard can it be, if you can secure and cordon off something like 100-500 hectares.
Build a somewhat reliable power supply unit to run all the pumps for water used to feed and hygiene
Cross breed tse tse fly resistant cattle breeds [we are in 2015 darn it]
Make reliable investments/agreements with other farm to buy their maze output to complement forages[Plant material that livestock graze or that is cut and fed to them.] that they will have to source.
[After cattle are weaned (approximately 7-8 months of age, shortly before puberty), most continue to receive forages as a large portion of their diet. This is important to help their stomach continue to grow and develop properly. However, forages do not provide the high amount of digestible energy these cattle need to grow quickly. Farmers are able to utilize a number of feeds that are higher in digestible energy and lower in fiber – refered to these as concentrates
The concentrates feeds can include cereal grains (corn, wheat, oats, barley, sorghum), the by-products of milling or processing these grains (soybean meal, cottonseed meal. peanut meal), or by-products of ethanol or alcohol production (distillers grains). These feeds are more efficient sources of energy for the stomach in cattle, in turn making the animal more efficient in obtaining energy for growth, reproduction, or weight gain].

Raising cattle down south will require commitment to modern cattle hearing practice and will really be most feasible when the traditional source of beaf has been cut off but it is doable .

Fulani herdsmen kill village chief in Enugu

ENUGU—Suspected Fulani herdsmen, yesterday, killed Tamgbo Ogueji, a member of the traditional rulers’ cabinet at Eke community in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State. The deceased, aged 85, was allegedly shot in his house in the early hours over an undisclosed issue.

President-General, Eke Town Union, Mr. Anthony Enu, said the community was irked and the youths restive. He said: “Last year, the same Fulani herdsmen killed two of our brother, Matthew Aniugo and Chiagha Chigbo, in their farms. The town is boiling with anger now.

“We have reported the matter to the Police. We are calling on all relevant authorities to prevail on these Fulani herdsmen to ensure justice for our people.” All efforts to get the reaction from the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, proved abortive as he did not respond to calls and SMS to his mobile phone.

Another version of this story:
Tension pervaded Enugu on Thursday over the killing of a community leader by Fulani herdsmen.
It was gathered that the deceased, Pa Tagbuo Oguejiofor, 85, a chief, was murdered at his farm in Oma Eke village in Udi Local Government Area of the state.
Our correspondent learnt that before his death, the deceased had driven away some herdsmen from his farm.
It was gathered that the herds destroyed crops and polluted a water well that belonged to the deceased.
Reports of the incident fueled fears of possible reprisal on the Hausa-Fulani community.
http://www.punchng.com/news/fulani-herdsmen-kill-enugu-community-leader-on-farm/

and yet another one:
From Agbakwe, Ette, Akpakume, Ebe, Opanda, Nara, Ibagwa, Ukana, Oruku, Isi -Ogbo communities where activities of herdsmen have been pronounced, farmers in the area literally live in fear of engaging in farming activities as the herdsmen have forcefully acquired massive farm lands belonging to the people for grazing activities and settlement.

In Nkpologu community, Uzo – Uwani Local Government Area last December, suspected Fulani robbers killed one Veronica Ezugwu, 23, who hailed from Agum village in the area. Ezugwu was returning to the village for her traditional marriage and the New Year when she was shot inside a commercial bus by the suspected Fulani robbers who were operating in the area.

Women and youths numbering over 1000 yesterday protested the incessant rape of women and destruction of economic crops by Fulani herdsmen who have overrun most of the agrarian communities in Imo State.

One of the victims, a middle-aged woman (name withheld), from Ihe Umuapu autonomous community in Ohaji Egbema Council Area of the state, said the herdsmen who swooped on her in the farm while harvesting cassava raped her to a coma.

The victim who escaped death by the whiskers after the herdsmen took turns to rape her, called on security agencies to come to the aid of the community to forestall further attacks, adding that several women who were abused by the assailants did not have the courage to make it public.

And this one:

Fulani herdsmen kill 3 peace emissaries in Delta

OLEH — Three persons have been killed and two others injured in renewed hostilities between Fulani herdsmen and residents of Okuke, a satellite village at Amorji in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The people of the community, it was gathered, had been at loggerheads with the herdsmen who they accused of destroying their farmlands and terrorizing them over the last three years.

An indigene of the community told newsmen that the herdsmen had threatened to chase the residents out of Okuke, a development which, he said, prompted Amorji to constitute a 15-man delegation to meet with them (the herdsmen) for a peace talk.

The community indigene, who craved anonymity, said the delegation was on the way for the peace talk when they were ambushed by herdsmen, who he alleged opened fire at them, killing three and inflicting gunshot injuries on two others.

He said one person was still missing and that those injured were receiving treatment at a hospital in Kwale, headquarters of the Ndokwa West Local Government Area, while the bodies of the deceased had been deposited in the mortuary.

He lamented that indigenes of the community could no longer go to their farms or markets in neighbouring communities for fear of being ambushed and attacked by the armed herdsmen.

Police statement

Contacted, Police Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Celestina Kalu, confirmed the killings and said the incident was a suspected reprisal attack.

She disclosed that a Fulani herdsman had earlier been reported killed in the community in the last one week.

Kalu said: “After some days, some of the villagers went to the police to complain that three of their indigenes were missing. A search party was raised and the bodies of three persons were found.”

Kalu said the command was trying to curtail the situation, and that efforts were on to bring the feuding parties together.

Herdsmen kill 2, rape women in Imo

OWERRI-Two people are feared dead, while an unspecified number of women have been reportedly raped by Fulani herdsmen who invaded Umuapu community in Ohaji/Egbema local council area of Imo State with their cattle.

Vanguard investigation revealed that angered by the alleged gory activities of the Fulani herdsmen, scores of women and youths barricaded the ever busy Owerri-Port Harcourt federal highway yesterday to protest their plight. Traffic along the highway was, for the greater part of yesterday, disrupted at Umuapu, while commuters were forced to seek alternative routes to get to their destinations. One of the protesters, who simply identified himself as Chukwudi, lamented that “apart from the two dead villagers, the Fulani herdsmen have ceaselessly raped our women and girls as well as destroyed the crops in our farms.”

He described the grazing of their cattle on farmlands as “a deliberate ploy by these Fulani herdsmen to ensure that we are not food sufficient in Imo.” Every effort made to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Linus Nwaiwu, a deputy superintendent of police, failed as he was said to be away from the office when Vanguard called. However, a senior police officer in the State Police Headquarters, Owerri, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident and quickly added that normalcy had returned to the rural community.

“The police is aware of previous reports about the activities of the Fulani herdsmen in the area. We are investigating the incident but the villagers did not wait for us to complete our investigations before they jumped into the highway,” the police officer said.

Thanks for this thread. I'd type more but I'm on mobile.

Essentially, I think Yorubas do not call out Fulanis as a tactic to annoy igbos and to not acknowledge that the igbos were right about these menace called Fulani herdsmen.

It's time to ignore those thoughts and to address the main problem from the root.
Be it violence or diplomatic. It's obvious that our politicians are too selfish and greedy to diplomatically address these demons.

Either we, as the citizens, force our politicians to do the needful by restricting Fulani madness to the north or we take an eye for an eye. Fulani Herdsmen are not educated, they only understand the way of the old. They're not civilized nor are they diplomatic. They kill without remorse .

It's a shame really.

Yorubas won't call out these demons because they don't want to admit the truth.

I'm Yoruba and I'm calling out these mess because it's getting ridiculous and horrific.

And fulanis are getting brazen because of the division between these two major nations. How can they be attacking two major tribes so easily? And majority of them aren't even from Nigeria.

It's a shame on both Yorubas and Igbos. You guys continue fighting, but don't ignore this issue. Imagine how easy it would be for boko Harams to infiltrate the south by pretending to be herdsmen.
