People let try to appreciate these people, am sure 90% of Nigerians detest the Police force due to corruption, but the fact remains that our govt is solely responsible for the rot in the system. You expect these sets of people to buy stuffs in the same mkt with you, they have responsibilities as you do with this stipends called salary.... Nigerians should fear God.

My brothers car got stolen. First thing obviously was to report to the police on getting to the station it was either 'settle or we waste your time to death' so we settled remember the guy just discovered his car has been stolen.
Next thing they have to go to radio room to announce the car on their radios. With that kind of hope that the car can still be found na so we follow them go ikeja to announce car was stolen radio man too had to be settled.

Come back station to record case towards police report upon hearing he needed it for insurance claim, oh boy come and see as the guy only came short of saying explicitly pay me or no police report

Someone going through the grief of losing his car on the very same day o

Like all insurance claims process we had to wait a couple of weeks for police to declare they couldn't find the car before he could claim police report.

I had to ask my brother to wait that I'll go and collect the report because I was certain what was going to happen

True to my expectation the policeman again asked for settlement I just told him my car was parked at the back of the station that he should chill I was going to drive out and on my way give him the thing that he should please come & wait near the gate.

Shameless man too came out to wait sebi I had collected what I came for? That's how I took off driving the opposite direction

Settlement ko. Settlement ni

You keep wondering at how I reason your assertion is based on sentiment mine on a true life experience

And let me ask you choose between police & OPC to guard your estate who would you choose?

...keep wondering you hear? Police is your friend

when some people talk, i just dey think wetin dey comot from this our brain sef!

I said police men are bad, yes, I know...but that does not mean you should advise somebody who cares to join the force not to! Hay, not all of them are bad...Some are really sincere and hard working. Now, you just gave an example of a singel experience...can that be used to justify your argument? Just as you're having bad experience with the force, some people are having fantastic experiences too. Police is like customer care services in Nigeria: some days, you meet some great staff with good customer care service while some days, you get to meet staff with bad customer service. My brother, not everyone dey curse police, hope you know! Don't descourage anyone from joining any force in Nigeria...if everyone should run away from the force, who then will get the job done? No matter how 'pathetic' you think they are, they are still important. Remember your sentence where you said, you wonder why people still join the force and PHCN since the public 'curse' them a lot! My brother, that statement is not right.

Coming to your question bro: if they are that incompetent, top people in Nigeria will not be using them for security too, they would all gone for OPC! My brother, it's about how you carry your self. I have had many encounters with police men and I never had any problem with them and I never revealed my identity. Sometimes, the way we approach people counts a lot. We Nigerians are difficult. That the public 'curse' the police does not mean anyone who cares to join and perform his or her work deligently will be affected by 'curse'.

lolss if only you can stand the son of IGP i can then listen to you...and who are you to tell someone not to join the force? leave people with their own business...or did the person tell u that he doesnt know what people are saying? police no good and wealthy people and celebrities still use them...go and become a VIP and you will be well attended to. You can shout from now till end of this world, it will not change the fact that when police form comes out, more than the 10 thousand required will apply! It will not take the fact away that on the recruitment day, various states will experience traffic as a result of the number of applicants. Even that ur friend cursing police along with you will obtain the form tongue
Guy, the problem with most Nigerians is that they are arrant. I'm sure you are one of them...police will always deal with ur type...if u like, u can go and hug electricity. Police will always deal with ur type...ur type that claims to know everything, ur very arrogant and proud fellow. Talk from now till tomorow, crowd go full on the day of screening for police.

Please, you can win the best Nairaland award of the year....lolzzz...

you think people that have things to do come to Nairaland like you do and claim experts? Academically, I doubt you can stand my progress (don't even go there)...online writing is not formal my brother...except it's stated. You're too backward bro and if you're educated then, you're a disgrace to standard education. If you can drop that kind of comment and attributes it to all policemen then, you should not count your self educated. You think all policemen are chasing drivers and collecting 100 naira? You think they are all corrupt? You're not logical at all...too sentimental! And you can never learn because you're myopic. Yes, policemen are bad and not all of them are bad bro...there are those who are still serving with their hearts. There are many of them who are professionally doing their job and to think they are not needed in this country only shows that you are covered by sentiments! And to advise someone not join the force because you think everyone curses them only confirms that you are a disgrace to standard education. Bro, I have no case with you, all I'm saying is simple: if someone wants to join any force in Nigeria, don't go about discouraging the person. Don't sit in one corner of your life to claim everyone places curse on them. Don't sit in one area of your life to claim they all chase drivers for 100 naira...that is falacy because there are many of them who don't have time for all these. What you have done is called falacy of generalization. Your type will never see their own error but to complain and complain. The kind of policemen you see only paints a vivid picture of your standard bro.

The crossed statement, you discredit something then validate in the same statement? How do we qualify this? im not going to even bother about that cos you obviously are confused.

Your bragging about being what did you say again? Being better advanced and online writing not being formal blah blah blah.

heres a process for you

you cant write in mandarin cos you dont have the skill set to (neither do i, before this becomes cause for you to have a hard on)

Now because you cant write in mandarin it would be difficult to have you write like that. So what do you do? You stick to what you know. unapologetic ally which happens to be that sorry excuse of what you call english. If its not in you, its not in you...dont sweat it.

On your being advanced, well thats pretty much a relative thing wouldnt you say? Even better still, empty barrels they say make what?

The kind of polkcemen i see hmm last i checked they dont categorize them as to which area the 'type' ill be seeing stay...or do they?

Your statements are heavily laden with sentiments. i provided a link for you, did you read it? Or everyone who posted there is somehow living in the same area with me?

How many of them have you seen that can be said to be worth it?

Thief carry gun go operation who supply them? Police

Police shot a woman an injured her husband over 100naira that is not his own o.

Police loses hand while dragging how much with danfo driver

what is it? Is police the only force in Nigeria? Why dont we get such reports about the other forces in the country?

Tufia. Keep supporting them, it thats what validates your own formal education, congrats.

You're making me laugh each moment I read your follow up comment. Well, you started this nonsense talk and I think you are the very empty one. My brother, I repeat, I don't have any issue with you; it's simple, policemen are bad but not all of them. I can repeat this any where. The links you provided: could that be the 150 million nigerians commenting on that story? One policeman did this or that: have you met all the policemen? I really dont know what your problem is bro: There are many lecturers frustrating female students and misbehaving but does that mean all of them are bad? Does it mean if someone wants to become a lecturer, I will now start descouraging the person because I think lecturing is this or that? Do you know how many ladies who have placed curses on lecturers as a result of their acts? Do you know how many guys had terrible experience in uni all because of one lecturer or the other? My brother, I dont know why you are angry! Policemen are bad but not all of them. There are many of them going about their duties professionally.

Well, I wish I can see you in person: writing, writing, writing..hmmmmm, i don't have much to say about that. Just know one thing, you can't match me in my field bro and I have many standard works to reference to. When you compared me to a secondary school student was when you lost my sincere respect. Im not perturbed at all bro. You asked a very important question bro in the concluding part of your comment: you asked if policemen are the only security agency in Nigeria? I will answer you bro:

Now, the reason their actions are obvious enough to everyone is because they have the primary assignment of securing lives and properties within Nigeria. Other forces don't really have such functions. I doubt if you can understand this because sentiment has taking over you bro, but try to eh. Many years back, the soldiers were not out of the base the way they are now simply because we didnt have reasons to bring them out except in situations they came out to assist the police force. Now they are out, now that they have taken over some areas as a result of our security problems in the north, there have been many posts here on Nairaland portraying soldiers in dark light. And many people started having problems with them. Many people have condemned soldiers like never before lately.

Wait until you give the kind of constitutional powers granted to police to OPC or any other and you will see their true colour bro. Their activities affect Nigerians the more compare to other forces in Nigeria. People are always having issues with policemen...just google 'police brutality in America' and read amazing ugly stories coming out from that part of the world. I did a research on that for a client recently. Funny enough, I never knew until I started the research. My South African friends are complaining too...or do you want to try the Chinese policemen? Bro, their duties make them easily offend citizens. This does not imply that other forces are better bro. If the military takes over the soceity today, I give you one month, you will complain even more.

We are not meant to be arguing bro, it's a simple fact, some are bad and some are very kind and professional. Also, Nigerians are very stubborn bro. Your politicians who are killing many Nigerians with their corrupt acts, are they not loved more than policemen? Do you know why? Think about it judging from the reasons I just gave to you.
You're my friend bro...no hard feeling.
