My brothers car got stolen. First thing obviously was to report to the police on getting to the station it was either 'settle or we waste your time to death' so we settled remember the guy just discovered his car has been stolen.
Next thing they have to go to radio room to announce the car on their radios. With that kind of hope that the car can still be found na so we follow them go ikeja to announce car was stolen radio man too had to be settled.

Come back station to record case towards police report upon hearing he needed it for insurance claim, oh boy come and see as the guy only came short of saying explicitly pay me or no police report

Like all insurance claims process we had to wait a couple of weeks for police to declare they couldn't find the car before he could claim police report.

I had to ask my brother to wait that I'll go and collect the report because I was certain what was going to happen

True to my expectation the policeman again asked for settlement I just told him my car was parked at the back of the station that he should chill I was going to drive out and on my way give him the thing that he should please come & wait near the gate.

I said police men are bad, yes, I know...but that does not mean you should advise somebody who cares to join the force not to! Hay, not all of them are bad...Some are really sincere and hard working. Now, you just gave an example of a singel experience...can that be used to justify your argument? Just as you're having bad experience with the force, some people are having fantastic experiences too. Police is like customer care services in Nigeria: some days, you meet some great staff with good customer care service while some days, you get to meet staff with bad customer service. My brother, not everyone dey curse police, hope you know! Don't descourage anyone from joining any force in Nigeria...if everyone should run away from the force, who then will get the job done? No matter how 'pathetic' you think they are, they are still important. Remember your sentence where you said, you wonder why people still join the force and PHCN since the public 'curse' them a lot! Coming to your question bro: if they are that incompetent, top people in Nigeria will not be using them for security too, they would all gone for OPC! My brother, it's about how you carry your self. I have had many encounters with police men and I never had any problem with them and I never revealed my identity. Sometimes, the way we approach people counts a lot. We Nigerians are difficult. That the public 'curse' the police does not mean anyone who cares to join and perform his or her work deligently will be affected by 'curse'.
