I got into my pen few minutes ago and noticed a lot of the smelly brown pasty poop on the litter. I also discovered a weak bird with rather too much water in its crop. Are these an indication/s of something? They are 10 weeks old this week.

Hey farmers! I noticed this droplet this morning. Any ideas and advice would be appreciated. I've since moved it to isolation.

Major911 does the Amprocox contain antibiotics or is it only an anti-cocci. kubaWill. In addition to administering anti-cocci as suggested by davidzfarm18, I'll also advise you (re)vaccinate against ND. And do it ASAP. Success.

Dear Farmers,
I have 1,000 broiler and they are just 24days. They are consumming 2bags of broiler starter daily but seems the 2bags is no longer enough for them now.

the farm is an initiative of this group. Kudos to you all.

kindly advise how many bags are they supposed to be eating now? please I am starving them or over-feeding them?
when should I change their feed.

candid opinion needed here.

Broiler chicks require 67g per day. Broiler finishers require 67g of feed per day to the day of slaughter. (source - http://www.theorganicfarmer.org/articles/19/poultry-keeping-what-farmers-need-to-succeed)

This means that in your case 67g X 1000 birds = 67,000g of feed which means 67kg/day and if the feed you buy is packed in 25kg bags that means that you will need 67kg divided by 25kg = 2.68kg or round up to 3 kg/day.

good luck

@ eggcelent, davidzfarm, other experts, my layers are doing above 90% egg production; but in d last few days, the size of their eggs have reduced, I even noticed 1-2 soft shelled eggs.
this started when I started on a fresh bag of their feed (animal care laymore mash). in this batch of supplies, the feed is finer in particles with less corn granules.
what do I do to size up their eggs again
Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by Eggcelent(m): 12:56pm On Oct 12, 2015
Ayostically. Researches have proven that laying birds do better with bigger feeds granules. However, that doesn't explain the soft shells & smaller sizes unless this batch has low calcium content. You may look into that. In addition, when was the last time you administered Lasota? NCD can also cause reduced size & soft shelled eggs. Success.
Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by Ayostically: 2:25pm On Oct 12, 2015
they were dewormed in d last wk of sept,3 days later they were given lasota and a wk later vitamins (for 5 days)
I expected that they'd eat more therefore bigger eggs.

I suspect fineness of the feed as being responsible 4this. I was just thinking if I need administer a drug to boost the egg size (some 1 suggested egg booster) but I also feel its too early to start using such drug on them. what do u think.
As 4 the soft shelled eggs, I'll watch them for 2day, if I still get soft shelled eggs, I'll give calcium

earlier today i spoke with Davidsfarm about Animal care feed. i suspect there is problem with their feed. of recent we(i & davidsfarm) have experienced drop in production and am begining to suspect the feed. like Ayostically said the feed is finer in particles and does not look like the normal feed i know.

2day's egg production fell 2 about 85%. didn't get any soft shelled but d size is still nt as it used 2 be.
is it advisable to switch feed, its been animal care product all along?

jamp. Great reading from you. I believe the birds are doing fine. I wouldn't really know about Animalcare Feeds at the moment. I only buy the Concentrate & not the Finished Feeds. However, for drop in production; it could be due to a number of factors which include the shorter daylength as well as the stress the birds are facing due to the heat. It could as well be the feeds. Ayostically, the decision to change feeds is entirely yours. Just be sure it is changed gradually.
