Hello everyone, Good day. I need your assistance on giving birth in Chicago
I am currently pregnant with my second child and intend to deliver in Chicago. Hubby my son and i already have b1/b2 visas, at the time of application i didnt know i was pregnant. A Few questions below
1-Do i need to send an email to the embassy notifying them of my change of intent to travel
2, I was given a contact for a dr and he sent an invoice/bill of $7500 for the whole birth cost. Can i get a referal for a cheaper Dr
3, Given this current cost of $7500 how much would you recommend we take along giving that my hubby will be back to Nigeria in 2 weeks
4, What questions should i expect at the POE.
Your responses will be appreciated

Congrats on ur pregnancy.
Apparently you have been going through this thread. Questions 1,2 and 4 is the reason Why this thread was created.a simple yes or no will not help u. Rather a lil research and perusal of stories and experiences will Better guide u.
People that used chicago did and posted and went on with their lives.
Poe experiences Are Practically on EVERY page.
Tip: these stories always start with 'in the spirit of giving back...' cheesy
As for no 3. Take enough money to support every thing u intend to do. Your lifestyle and others are Not the same. Calculate your fees , accomodation, feeding, shopping, warriffa u want to do and carry. Again, as u read thru , you l see the amounts other folks cited.

Hi Nairalanders,
Please I need your advise. Renwed my Visa in March 2015 via dropbox and travelled to the US in June with husband and 3yr old daughter on family vacation. I'm 20weeks pregnant now an plan aving my baby in the US.

I was planning to use Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St loius but I see some post stating Mobap has stopped accepting international maternity patients. Is this still true? What other affordable hospitals are in Missouri, St loius? As I av family stayin in St loius so an hospital there will save me accommodation fees.

Pls respond

We Paid 2240. she accepted all our test expect the once the hospital did not include on their report. Lab 45 and scan 160 total 2445 also . Hospital 2538 and 1500 for Anesthesia (refundable if you did not use epidural) total 4038. somebody mentioned Houston anesthesia associates which is cheaper so verify from Dr. Amajoh if HM accepts them.
Tell her in time to give you the list of all the lab result you will do to save cost. She is good and gives listen ears on ways to save cost but not putting you on risk though. She was monitoring wify labour progress right from her house with the use of some chips they placed on her tommy till she was fully dilated im very impressed with her services.

1. Yes
2. Dr Akere, enjoy, proceed at your own risk
3. Hold $15k
4. Avoid chicago POE like a plague, if you had really read the threads, esp part 2, you will run very far frm Chicago

This thread has been so helpful and i just want to share my smooth POE experience.

I arrived at JFK in d afternoon on Thursday via Emirates. It was a pleasant trip. The queue was very long at first but it moved so fast.I think I spent between 10 and 15mins there. Then i was the last person my CPB was to meet. I think I spent about 6 mins with him. Here is the transcript.

CBP: Hello, what are u here for?
Me; vacation and childbirth
CBP: childbirth? U don't even look pregnant
Me: yeah
CBP: are u here alone, what about your husband
Me: yes, but he's coming to join me
CBP: what do u do and where does your husband work
Me: replied him
CBP: how much do u have with you
Me: I have $5k
CBP: looked at my passport and visa and asked if I've been in the US before
Me: I said yes, but the last visa was on my last passport.
CBP: who are you staying with in Florida.
Me: I'm staying with my family
CBP: Did u bring any food along
Me: yes, mentioned the few snacks I brought
CBP: how long are you going to be here
Me: 4 months
CBP: okay, place your hand on the scanner and face the camera
Stamps for 6 months
Have a nice stay
Me: thank you

No secondary inspection and no request for additional documentation whatsoever. Wish everyone a smooth POE experience also and safe delivery of their LOs.
nice answering strategy

Also i couldnt go through all the pages of thread 2(almost 400 pages) so if u can pls give a summary of your experience or knowlegde of the Chicago POE i will really really appreciate it.
You said to avoid Chicago POE...pls how is that possible given thats where i will stay and give birth.

Apologies for so many questions but i will appreciate a response or permission to send you an email thank you

Are you currently in the UK, do you want to apply in the UK.
I will advise you apply at the embassy in Belfast, and not London. They have skoin skoin in dia head in London embassy

There's a snag here, you need to show ties to home country, in this case your home country is UK. With your leave to stay being rejected, it may be a red flag for you.
I suggest you return to Nigeria, show ties to home country in Nigeria apply from here
