You go teeh my sister but I'll leave you with these two scriptures:

Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.~ Proverbs 13:24

Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of discipline will remove it far from him.~(Proverbs 22:15)
Don't mind them, we were all punished by teachers for wrong doings growing up and we are better for it today. The kids of today wont be able to face tomorrow's challenges cos they are rotten.

Please who is she? I don't know her.

People like her will destroy the life of the child and then send him to a school and expect the teacher to perform wonders.

You guys are getting me wrong. I am not against parents floggin their children. I flog my children well and they can't try nonsense with me. All i am saying is that teachers should not flog students because they might injure them!!! You as a parent willknow how best to flog them. Don't you know many nigerian sec school and pri school students have died in the hands of teachers

Exactly. I remember reading a story here about some teacher who slapped a girl and she later developed swollen eyes and became blind. All this would have been avoided if the teacher did the right thing. Those who want or enjoy other people hitting your own kids it's your own palava but you don't need to get upset about other people who don't want others laying hands on their kids. Every one has an opinion or preference.

This is why every household should have a strong man. These women are incapable of raising a child properly. These women are often emotional and unable to tell the difference between a teacher disciplining a student or one abusing them.

No, the Bible is referring to chocolates and candies.
Another one of them.

If you child misbehaves, give him a candy.
Don't ever misquote the bible phrase, the rod of discipline. It doesn't mean a real rod. If you can't use a rod on your pet, how much more your own child. The rod here connotes a measure of discipline to make the child feel the consequence of his sin.

Most teachers in Nigerian schools can be very VERY VERY WICKED. I remember a number of them back in Secondary school. They arrested a teacher after he floged a child till the child FAINTED. Things should not be this way

She should bring the child to CDSS Ikeja or any of the other military schools. That they will beat her child is an understatement.

She's absolutely right.

There's no way to much how much beating or discipline Nigerian teachers should give a child.

There was one case like that about how a Nigerian teacher killed a student with beatings.

You're getting paid to educate.

If a child misbehaves, send him outta the school.

I don't have to worry about this ish since none of my kids will be sent to Nigeria. If so, I fot kill the teacher myself.

yea suspension and dentention is a normal and perfect process some people dont understand that punishment does not necessarily mean flooging , there are other ways of doing that, flogging is a little bit barbaric.

It is beyond barbaric and it also has psychological issues. If I was a child and I attend a school where a teacher constantly beats me I would not be happy. I would hate school so much and that could even inhibit me from doing my best.

Nowadays you can get some crazy kids. You dunno if they will keep that resentment in them till one day they snap and decide to pay the dear teacher with their own coin.

Parental discipline is different from what teachers are supposed to do. If a teacher wants to beat something then they should become a boxer and beat whoever the hell they want to beat and get paid back in their own coin angry

The sad part is not everyone commenting are teachers. It seems most people find it okay to beat other people's kids whether it be maids, family members etc. One needs to be very careful the company of who they decide to leave their kids. I weep for Nigeria and all other Africans who still believe in this primitive practice that it's okay for teachers to beat your children.

What if they use chairs to beat them. This can lead to abuse

I studied education not by mistake but by choice... reinforcement is necessary... I'll flog ur son if he breaks d rule else u take him and home school....

New generation parents
You studied education and you were not taught that corporal punishment is unethical? There are other ways to punish a child than resorting to beating him or her. Simply withdrawing certain things the child enjoys could serve as a form of punishment, not inflicting bodily harm on them.

Now I know you were consulted while writing the bible.

Please what is the rod of discipline?
Which rogue pastor told you that one?
Because I am sure it didn't come from you.

If my child does something bad, let the teacher tell me; the parent, and i will deal with him/her myself. Do you know how many children have died in the hands of teachers in Nigeria? Corporate punishment needs to end, many lives have been lost because of that

Nobody wants a teacher to torture their kid but believe me,an occasional discipline is good. The child learns to obey constituted authority. Any parent who only wants the ward's transgression reported to them isn't doing the child any good and sooner or later, will grow tired of the child's unruly behavior.

Let me tell you what happened in my neighborhood. There was a very stubborn kid whose mum never wanted anybody to lay a finger on. One day in school,he tore another pupil's uniform and was flogged by a teacher. He reported to his mum when he got home. The next day, the mum got some policemen and threatened all the teachers in the school. Since that day, all the teachers avoided the kid. No matter what he did, none of the teachers will even look in his direction, let alone tell him to stop. All they did was pick a phone and call the mum. The mum was called over 20 times a day. It went something like this "madam your son is pulling off his buttons, better come stop him;your son is eating his lunch by 10a.m,better come stop him or bring another one for him;your son is crying that he wants to go, please come and either take him home or make him stop." The mum had to go to school repeatedly everyday. The kid's behavior deteriorated and his school performance dropped. The mum had to pull him from the school to another where she maintained a low profile and allowed the teachers a free hand.

If I told you who hit me the most in my younger days it was actually my mother. My father did not hit me but I was afraid of him more. It's nor about emotions. You as a parent are responsible for your children's discipline. If you can't do that then don't become a parent because it's not supposed to be a teacher that should install discipline into your child. When your child leave that teachers class then what?
Re: Damilola Attoh: “Any Teacher That Touches My Son Will Face The Devil” by JiggamanGh: 6:05pm On Nov 03, 2015
I mean teachers beat kids senseless for getting wrong answer or being late to school. Not everyone learn at the same rate, and not every kid has the same tools at home or support but does it matter to a teacher.
