A concern for those that have billions in their account any @ Op this is a very important issue that needs government attention as for me I save majority of my cash in my duck save nd put where efcc , thief , termite and moths will not reach

OP, BVN does not give access to your account, so even if someone has the number, the worst that can happen is that they get your personal and biometric details, but be rest assured your money is safe

I beg to differ because in this age where the internet is very porous and the hackers have developed new and better skills nothing is safe anymore.

Don't you give people your account number?


Am sure most of the people that will join in condemning this innovation have distributed their account number to almost everyone on their contact list.

Having access to my BVN is like having access to my account number simple. It doesn't mean you have access to my account.

This is why the western worlds still regard us as being backward.

Very sensible post, no cause for alarm, obtaining my BVN does not give you access to my account.

Op is correct! Wether BVN give access to acct o or personal details only it shud be protected n kept secret. Scammers can use ur personal details to do smtin criminal dat may put u on the run

Op,I don't think it is possible because you can only use the phone number associated with your account to access your Bvn. And secondly when you use the phone to access the Bvn ,the SMS does not display the account number or bank

Your BVN number is just like an identity card number. BVN is a paperless identify card. With BVN, all a bank will need to identify you is to ask you to thumb print. No longer story anymore. So nobody can access your account by knowing your BVN number. BVN will greatly reduce fraud in the banking industry

Nobody is having any bad experience. It is simply impossible.

Having my BVN is like having my account number nothing more. It is useless to the person possessing it and could only be useful to the owner if the possessor puts money in the account.


Anyone that is shouting about this needs to get education. Such person is no different from illiterate market women.

Your right, I suggest they have to attach security secret number before BVN will display on someone phone.

You are wrong! Whatever can be done with your BVN can be done with your account number.

Those at risk are those who use same PIN for all their accounts, if one account is compromised, other accounts will be at risk.

you could be in danger if u misplaced ur Mobil phone.

I doubt if the OP's fear Is warranted...that number can't lead to your acc just like that it is like social security number, I believe all they will get are your details
