"@ozycy, pls what was ur baby's baggage allowance for air france

ozycy:

15 bags without extra pay shocked. Am entering BA next time I want to travel grin. Not for birthing ooo. @ Sayoberry, it's like that our plan of birthing after 10 years have been thwarted . I changed my mind.

I hv 3weeks plus before my travel date. I will call them next week to try on d appt again. I don't really want to do post office cos they might disappoint.
ozycy:

Guess it's what the automated machine said when you called. Is it 2 weeks or 4weeks? I think it's 4 weeks, Since you probably will apply for Visa afterwards. I doubt if they are very strict on that cos a friend that had 3weeks plus applied in the passport agency even without travel proof or booking appointment. She just collected birth certificate and walked in and applied without any proof of travel . Meanwhile, this is not summer so there is no rush der by this time. Just go ahead and book appointment for Monday, but if you have so much time before travel date, den you can go drop it off at the post office. I think it takes about two weeks. How long do you have before you travel back?

I used Dr Elizabeth baily. She accepted all my test from Nigeria and didn't collect money for my ultrasound which I do weekly from 32 weeks until delivery at 38weeks. I got her when Dr lai rejected me grin

Lol@Dr. La's rejection. The guys hands are full and he doesn’t want to be overbooked.

Just seen this. It answers my questions. Please ignore my previous enquiry. Thanks.

Please mothers in the house, has anyone suffered from severe pain in both wrists after delivery? If yes, please how did u get rid of it? Asked my doc today, he called it (de Quervain’s tenosynovitis/syndrome) and advised i see an orthopedic doc. Pain is excruciating!

I have had de quervain for a little over a year now, before I got pregnant,in both hands,my left wrist is worse.6months into the 1st time I was diagnosed,I got a steroid injection in my wrist after oral medication failed.it got better for a bit,say about 2months,but started again.i was told that I made need to do an operation on my wrist to release the tendon for it to be completely healed, but I didn't do that.i have learnt to live with the pain now, some days it is ok,some days it is not.i wear a wrist brace at times which I got on Amazon,it has helped a lot.i honestly do not know what I will do when the baby comes, but I am not bothered about that for now, just looking forward to meeting my LO.

Any suggestions on whether or not this is serious? I'm 30 week, i can actually feel my pulse racing/palpitation and my throat is so patched, I've been drinking water non stop. No pains, contraction, nothing. Called the hospital already...
Other than these, I feel fine.
Do not want a false alarm visit to the hospital.
Many thanks .

Pls try to see a good physiotherapist they can help in this condition. ..as a preggie get to term the hormones tend to lose the ligaments of the pelvis...which when inflamed can cause severe pain from the ligamentous nerve endings

@Oyibo Pele o. Hope the pain resolves soon.
@Favoured gal, that's more like it! I for fear o. That lots of folks going to Houston are paying so high.. Good to know there's more affordable options.
On another note, this thing with Lufthansa na wa. I love that airline so much but I won't get a fit to fly from my Doctor quoting a different gestational age and me I want to leave at 36weeks. My other option is AirFrance for now since theyre the only other airline that leaves from PH. Can anyone who has used them advise how the experience was? My last experience with Lufthansa was awesome. The moment the cabin crew sighted my big belly, it was pampering all the way until we landed. Lol
Coming back was even better. They were even helping me carry baby sometimes while on board. I would miss that experience.

Hi everyone,
Just got introduced to this forum by my sis-inlaw,am a first time mum. Pls I need information on Cheap hospitals and doctor in minnesota or anyone who has used any before.the ones am hearing about are about 10k which is on the high side.infact I have no idea of which hospital to use, am due febuary ending and would like to travel early january.pls I need help, its really urgent.thanks

Hi teefex,
Minnesota is not a common place around here so I guess thats why no one is answering. Please answer the following questions

Do u have a b1/b2 visa? Or are u going for a visa interview soon?
Have you been speaking with a doctor?
Do you have a doctor's correspondence?
Whats your budget like?
Have you heard of burden of proof and budget sheet?

PS: I dont think the word 'cheap' go hand in hand in this american missionary journey undecided you have to plan for unexpected contingencies.
I suggest you get a jotter and a pen and start reading from part 1 if u haven't done that. You still have a lot of time. Before you get to page 200, you wud find a lot of information and you would learn a lot too.
I guess u have family in minnesota thats why you picked that state. Since the ones you heard about are on the high side, you can port to anoda state. undecided

I hope this helps.

All the glory to God! I arrived Detroit yesterday via KLM, flew klm to Amsterdam and delta to Detroit. I flew at 31 weeks and wasn't asked for fitness to fly. After paying 34usd for a preferred seat on the flight to Amsterdam I was so disappointed. The seat beside me was vacant and some annoying guy with a stinking breath who didn't like his original seat was made to sit there and made my trip so uncomfortable with his constant poking, turning and yawning. There were so many vacant seats o, I wonder why he was directed to that one mschewww. Got to Amsterdam around 5.30am and had to wait 4hrs 30mins for the flight to Detroit. Thank God I requested for special assistance, I was driven in that their auto wheel to a service centre where I chilled and was picked up later and dropped at my boarding gate.

Getting to the gate o, i go find trouble. Instead of me to just lay low with my big belle and green passport, I got up to go speak with one of the ladies at the counter ( after all I was honest at my visa interview so why hide), the seat on my boarding pass and seat I reserved did not tally and I wanted to know why. I hadn't finished asking my question when one black guy in suit asked to see my passport. That's how questions you expect at Poe started, he took me aside and asked for my reason for going to the U.S.

Me: childbirth
Guy in suit (GIS): you are quite direct
Me: (b4 Nko)
GIS: let me have your documents (he types on his phone for a while)
Before I knew it, he said you were denied a visa to the UK in 2014
Me: yes I was and I reapplied in 2015 and got it (y do they keep hammering on this denial sef)
GIS: what do you do and what does your hubby do
Me: I sha respond
He asked a lot, went through every single doc and finally let me join the queue to board the plane.

Got to Detroit and was wheeled to immigration, the friendly Cbp asked the normal questions and requested for docs and sent me for secondary inspection. Let me add that Detroit airport was empty so they had a lot of time on their hands. The guy who wheeled me left me, the Cbp was initially acting all tough but he later relaxed and joked with me. Went through my documents, I had just 3kusd cash on me ( he didn't ask to see it). Had bank statement of 4m Naira which he asked to see. He concluded that I made sure all my bills were paid and receipts collected. Let me add he also talked about the UK visa that was denied ( how long will dt singular denial hunt me?) I was stamped till may 2016. Someone finally came to wheel me out after spending 15mins listening to other people's interview. Went to Agric and tuber of yam was seized. Finally with my wonderful sister inlaw and family. Baby is due Xmas day and I will be using henry-ford. May God grant us all safe delivery and all the best to the other moms who are just starting this mission.
Congrats dear on your successful Poe. I'm also Michigan bound in January. Changed my mind doh from California due to plenty issues.Sent you a pm please respond

@teefex I don't think Minnesota is such a cheap place a friend had her baby there early last year she got in early enough and scouted for cheap hospitals the best she got gave her a total bill of $12k after discount. She's planning a second journey but she's not looking that way this time. You could keep looking you may be lucky. Wish you luck!

Extra bag was 150 or 200, excess weight was 75, it worked out to the same rate per pound for both. The challenge is they won't even allow you pay for extra bag once you reach 4 per adult

Another best way to save cost on luggages is to pack your stuff in duffel bags in place of boxes, they weigh next to nothing and allow more items.

Hello wonderful people. In the spirit of giving back; because i learnt soooooooo much from this thread.

We(DH,son and mua) had our interview few days back and it went like dis:

VO: Hello, how are you?
DH: Fine thank u, how are u?
Vo: Good, can i have ur passport?
DH: (Hands our passports) Here.
VO: Oooh you came with some others?
DH: My wife and son, they're in the rest room
VO: (Laughing) Ok we will wait. (that's another testimony; my dear son decided to poo just when we were close to be interviewed and oyibo no vex say i go change diaper!!!!)
ME: Good morning, sorry about this(I met her laughing so i was relaxed)
VO: Ok, why are you going to the US
DH: Vacation and Medical checkup
VO: No no no, i just want sincerity, are you birthing this baby in Nigeria or USA
ME: America(all my nairaland knowledge just started flowing so much that Hubby just kept quiet)
VO: How much do u earn?
WE: Xyz
VO: What do you do?
WE: Xxxxx
VO: Have you spoken to any....
ME: Hands my doc correspondence
VO: (Smiles) Give me one minute(left and returned to continue typing). Congratulations your visas has been approved (hands white paper) Please tell your friends and family to always be sincere with us.
ME: Ahaaa, I'm grateful.

Thanks to everyone that has ever dropped a line or two on this thread i've learnt soooo so much. God bless us all. Btw that embassy no be beans; it's like writing exams and getting ur result in front of the world. Hubby told me he prayed against that woman cos she denied everyone that he saw go to her, in the end she became our VO and it couldn't have gone better. Ontop fresh passports oh, all my travel experience was on my maiden passport that she didn't even see. Our 1st time in the US embassy..... Na GODWIN!!!!

To add my 2 cents for Naija visa (since I know u are not going to Atlanta) u don't need any notary. Eddy sent a sample letter and I signed on behalf of my dh who wasn't anywhere near me

For American passport however u need a notarized letter of consent if your dh won't be there

You can sign it down and take it with you but remember not to date it yet

Thanks darling, I'm good to go now, God bless you. Will definitely sign and not date.
