dominique:Personally, I think this ban is good because this would force the companies producing it to set up their factory and assembly plant here in Nigeria. That way, this product can be export thereby aiding our foreign exchange |

Big or small gen it both pollutes. This government is attacking the poor. Make a ban on big generators trust me that's the way forward to constant electricity. |

Banning it is putting the cart before the horse. I see it as sniffling the livelihoods of millions of people. Imagine that small barbershop in the corner of your street, whose livelihood depends on the survival of his business which is powered either PHCN or his small generator. A total ban is too premature. It's purely anti-people, why not ban the use of generating sets totally and see the effect. It's a policy poorly timed, and directed at worsening the case of already impoverished poor people in the society. |

People should not be allowed to speak rubbish and get away with it. Only a myopic view will support the outright ban on small generators why small generators only? Bigger generators without appropriate maintenance cause similar pollution. But the bigger issue is that the gas flared from Rivers state alone has more cumulative impact than all small generators combined. Yet the government cannot even push to eliminate these flares and even use the same gas for power generation. But they are quick to ban small generators..... how exactly does that make sense? Only under a president like Buhari will banning generators come before adequate power generation and supply. This is a clear case of thinking backwards. |

Dominiquez:A poor man that can afford that gen can afford something better tgan than thrash with just a little effort. A poor man will not even have a gen in the first place. What Is causing more harm than good should be left ...simply because of your assertions |

Informative bro, tnx. But the move will be fabulous if and only if FG is planning furiously towards providing us with the best alternatives which are 1). Constant power supply, 2). Good legislation to guide the service provided by the extorting private power companies, 3). Better Consumer Protectiom Agency like what NCC is to the telecoms operators, etc. Its weekend again, check my signature |

ViNeHaNds:Are you aware that the fumes from a diesel powered Gen is more lethal than that of a PMS powered Gen. Is the motive behind this post of yours a bid to defend just about anything this admin props up? Instead of placing an outright ban, why not introduce stringent conditions that ALL Generators must be made to pass through? Why not place a tight leash and crackdown on those who import inferior products? Why is this government so insensitive to the plight of the masses? Why does Buhari keep playing the aloof card over the hardships the average Nigerian goes through Daily? How much more of wanton decisions like this are we yet to see? Please do yourself a favour and stop defending the indefensible. |

so the bigger ones don't emit harmful toxic substances right.goggle deaths by generators in Nigeria and look at the type of generator the family have cos they always show it then tell me if they are all small ones.I use big one at home but the small one in my office and you tell me I ve to buy fuel x2 with the cost of fuel now? just be honest and tell us that you are a supporter of APC cos if it was the previous government that did this you won't support them |
