Simple answer - Because Yoruba chieftains can't put the Yoruba interests above their selfish interests.

Merging of states would solve this issue of bloated civil services.
Why can't Ogun merge Lagos, Oyo with Osun, and Ondo with Ekiti?

Have three big states with more autonomous LGs for outreach to citizens?

But wait a minute...I think we may have to leave Lagos out of the equation to begin with. The combo of Lagos-based politicians who fear being subsumed and E-siders that only pay lip service to regionalism, are likely to rail against any attempt to merge with Ogun state.

If govt is told about you they will invite you in and give proper interview to collect info and assess your needs, not just your ability to pay for enrollment but also your maintenance and future needs to complete undergrad program. Each state has scholarship program to care for situations like this.

If they call you to go to a govt agency, are you able to? Have you applied for scholarship?

A non serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Gbenga Obadara, who represented Ogun Central Senatorial District under the platform of SDP during the 7th legislature has opened a new private radio station in the state.

All is now set for the on air commencement of the private radio station located within the heart of Abeokuta.
The newly completed radio station has been undergoing test transmission since 20 November.

The new station named ‘Sweet FM’, will be transmitting on the frequency of 107.1FM band.

The station is situated within the popular Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta, the state capital.

Findings revealed that the station, which is the second private radio station in the state, will fully come on air by 1 December, 2015.
Investigation revealed that a lot of programmes being aired on an existing radio station in the town have now been taken to the new radio station.

A member of the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) in the state, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the new radio station arrived at a very good time when they were having some crisis with the management of the existing radio station.

There has been crisis between the management of the Radio Nigeria, Abeokuta (Paramount FM) and FIBAN in the state and the station is like home station for most of the presenters in the state.

The presenters stopped airing their programmes on the station in the last one month before the station itself went off air since about two weeks ago due to a faulty transmitter.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that the Odeda-born former federal lawmaker commenced work on the radio station as requested by the FIBAN members due to his close and cordial relationship with the association.

With the birth of the new radio station in few days to come, Ogun State is now having four radio stations. One is owned by the Federal Government, Paramount 94.5 FM; the second one is the state owned, OGBC 2 90.5FM and the third one, Rockcity 101.9FM owned by a veteran journalist and a former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in the state under Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Mr Niran Malaolu.
The newest in town now is Sweet 107.1FM which will commence full transmission on Tuesday, 1 December, 2015.

When the coronation is all done I would like you to create an album thread for Ooni Ogunwusi in Culture section. Give it any title that suits you. Let's extoll Ile Ife.

Please shed light on the following for me.

1. There's a shrine in Isale Eko called Idita. Some call it Idito. This shrine is believed to have been transplanted by Olofin. Before coronation an Oba must visit and perform some rituals here, facilitated by Araba. Egungun, Agemo all stop here and give homage. In the Tapa cult there is an Igunnu called Salumangi (Salumogi)...the very short Igunnu...when Igunnu cult comes out, Salumogi steps forward and pays homage at Idita. When Oro comes out they also visit the shrine. The most dramatic is the appearance of Adimu at Idita. Adimu's presence here is more than paying homage...the whole purpose of him coming out is to visit Idita...nothing more, and he spends upward of 30minutes inside.

Of all these, only three have access to the interior - Oba, led by Araba; Adimu and Oro.

There seem to be a parallel of these acts and figures in Ife.

This is not peculiar to the SW alone

With an independent nation we can go back to provinces like it used to be

WHile we are all Yoruba we are still different even calling everyone Yoruba was a recent phenomenon

I am sure you know about the clamour for Ijebu State from the current Ogun State, Same with Oke-Ogun from current Oyo and Oduduwa State from current Osun
