The problem with the igbos is that if they are not in hot pursuit by outsiders, they will not think they have a home to relocate to. This is the bane of our problem in this part of the country. they want things done osiso and it is not easy as they think it seems.

Onne seaport is a private seaport owned and managed by the people from the north. You cant import through that seaport without enriching the northern cabals. these northerners have turned the southsouth region to their milk and honey estate.

^^^I suspect a large part of the arrogant and insulting opposition to Biafra and rights to self-determination is sponsored or coming from those northern oligarchs who have -through the military and their closeness to the corridors of power- commandeered the juiciest business opportunities in the Niger Delta: most profitable oyel blocs, ports, leadership of NPA and CUSTOMS! You think they'll stand back and let a 'little' matter like self-determination put sand in their garri!?

All those bastards pretending to be Igbo, those efulefu Igbo who support 'one Nigeria' and hate Nnamdi Kanu with passion, the haters from across the Niger who hate Igbos but want 'one Nigeria' to go on regardless......all these 5th columnists and two-faced twerps are their agents!

Do we have to depend on importation alone in other to survive?..... Why not do mass production of some basic home items that can be sold within Nigeria or even exports to other country!. The money that will be levied to all Town Unions outside Eastern region should not be used in building churches or non economic stuffs!.... It should be purely for economic emancipation of our people!.

that is what i called diasporan tax system. this money should be comfortable for different people to pay. it will be a progressive tax system. we can only build the east ourselves. no one can do it for us.

The port won't be xclusively for importation. Like u said, we would produce locally and these products can't be consumed only in the Eastern region, and that is where the port would come in even more handy... Exportation of local products.

Which ever way u look at it, we still need a sea port, more so when the East is not industrialized.

Chief Executive Officer of Seven Energy International Limited, Phillip Ihenacho, has disclosed that the company was targeting the development of the Anambra Basin for the supply of gas to industries in the eastern and parts of northern Nigeria. Ihenacho said in an interview in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, that Seven Energy was investing substantially on three blocks in the Basin with hope of supplying gas to power plants and local industries.

“In the 70’s a few wells were drilled in the Anambra basin and were subsequently abandoned. Then, the last thing you wanted to find was gas, so the wells were sealed and left. The Basin sits effectively underneath Onitsha, Nnewi, Aba and Owerri all the way up to Enugu which are all areas with substantial light industry, using diesel fuel.
“We have recently farmed into three blocks in the Basin and our plan is to invest in developing gas in that area in order to supply gas to these locations. This will take time, as there has not been that much sub-surface work done in the area to date.
“This is a long-term plan and we hope to use a combination of pipelines and compressed natural gas that can be delivered by road in the interim. We are exploring near-term ways of monetizing gas such as compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas.
“There are CNG players in the market today. Lagos and Port Harcourt are being supplied already. This presents a big opportunity for Seven Energy to assist with the industrialization in these areas, but also to support power and industry further afield in large cities in the North such as Kaduna and Kano, which can be reached by road deliveries of CNG or LNG”.

Ihenacho explained that so far the company has invested over $800million in developing gas infrastructure in its area of operation between Port-Harcourt and Calabar and up to Aba.

“We have invested in pipeline infrastructure which, once we have completed the next phase, will mean we have a pipeline network of over 250 km and a processing plant that can process in excess of 200million standard cubic feet a day of gas. This is a substantial investment and by next year, we will have invested over 1 billion dollars.
“It is not easy to raise capital for infrastructure and the success of our business is essential for Nigeria to continue to attract further investment in the sector. Success will bring further capital.
“We have invested on the basis of long-term off-take agreements with Ibom Power, UNICEM – the Lafarge cement factory and Calabar NIPP and these agreements are 10-20 years in duration. Ideally these contracts are backed up by credit enhancement or guarantee, for example the World Bank is working with us on Calabar NIPP.
“These contracts give us a few anchor customers with which we have long-term off-take contracts. It is very similar to constructing a new building where you look for a few tenants who can take a few floors for a 10-year lease, and once these are in place, you have the confidence to build. Once the building is ready, you can then look for additional tenants.”

He said the country needs to “unlock money for the private sector and this can be facilitated by working with organizations like the World Bank and African Development Bank to enhance credit and provide some sort of guarantee to create credit worthy long-term contracts.”

Seven Energy International Limited is an independent Nigerian integrated oil and gas development, production and gas distribution company founded in 2004. With the backing of strategic long-term investors and main offices in Lagos and London, the Group has a unique focus on the emerging Nigerian domestic gas market. The Group’s upstream assets include license interests in the Uquo Field and the Stubb Creek Field (south east Niger Delta), an indirect interest in OMLs 4, 38 & 41 through a Strategic Alliance Agreement with Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (north west Niger Delta) and a license interest in OPL 905 (Anambra Basin). Its midstream infrastructure assets, focused on south east Niger Delta, include the 200 MMcfpd Uquo Gas Processing Facility and a gas pipeline network of 260 km with distribution capacity of 600 MMcfpd.

i am not saying that the seaport will be for just importation. we can export through the seaport without enriching these men. Another thing we have to note is that some of the raw materials to use for production might not be gotten from the country, it needs importation and that means there is still a need for a seaport. We can also use the port for exportation to the outside world. the good is that we have igbos all over the world. we can sell our products in igbo markets around the world and make profits from the sale.

the basic thing I need the government of the day to do is that they should build three major things and fund it to the fullest and you will see how governance will be easy in the next 10years. the governors of those years will just be sleeping:

1. Each governor should in a matter of urgency build an industrial estate: This estate should be built in such a way that any manufacturing company should be located there and they can have a central power station that will power it. this will go a long way in bringing our businessmen and intending manufacturers to see it as an opportunity to invest home. When this is done, businessmen will have to make easy business decisions to invest in the region and it will even help to centralise the industries of our state and avoid environmental pollution from different factories located in different LGAs.

2. The government should rebuild and renovate markets to world standards: It is a known fact that igbos are traders and if you think differently, you have to do some research. We need two major markets in different states in the east. One that will serve the people in the state and the one that will serve the people coming from outside the state. I know we have already known markets but they rebranding and make the name sellable. we need more international trade-fairs in the east. So that we can boost the image of these markets.

3. The government should build human capital: It is not having the population of India. Its about having the working population of China. Human resources have been shown over the years as an un-dwindling natural resources. it is always on the increase if channeled very well, the return on this investment will be great. This is what some emerging economies are doing such as China. Give your people sellable skills and let them bring money home. We have sellable skills now in the world and in hot need in the world at the moment. why not we be the experts that will audit, build roads, build some small machineries, do some programmings and solve some problems in africa and the world at large. the government should build a working population and that will to rest any form of dependency on the government.

Now brother, our problem is not about the non-igbo speaking south-south because as I have seen, I have not seen their support for the emancipation of our people. What we are trying to look at is to have our own seaport since thats the only way we will be sure that we control every resources and we will not hear anything called seizing of goods. it is imparative we look inwards and not put to shame when we look outwards.

Gabros reclaims IfeanyiUbah
DECEMBER 5, 2015 SPORTS
By EMMA JEMEGAH

Chief Gabriel Chukwumah, the former first vice-president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and erstwhile President of Gabros International, Nnewi, has sensationally taken back his club, His club was purported to have been bought/taken over by Chief. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah and renamed FC IfeanyiUbah, which participated in recently concluded 2014/2015 Nigeria Football season.

In a strong worded letters sent to both (NFF) and League Management Company (LMC) and copied to Anambra State Football Association as well as the Corporate Affairs Commission, Chief Chukwumah revealed that the celebrated sale/takeover of Gabros International had collapsed due to the inability of Chief Ubah to keep to the terms of agreement.

Chukwumah said: “I want to use this medium to apologise to the teeming fans of Gabros International around the world to forgive me regarding the shady manner with which the issue of sale/take over of the club was handled. I had wanted something better for the club, players and fans but unfortunately I was disappointed because the arrangement couldn’t work the way I expected.

“However, I am assuring the fans that with my experience, I will reorganise the club to regain its lost glory now that I have taken back my club and the management. We shall start competing again as Gabros International,” Chief Chukwuma said.

The Nnewi high chief also released the club programme as preparation for 2015/2016 football season hots up.

We scooped that apart from entering into a lucrative joint partnership/ sponsorship deal with two top European clubs which will see the clubs providing eighty percent (80%) of the cost of running the team. Negotiation has also been opened with a top Argentine coach, Marios Rodriguez to tinker the team for the coming season while former Ekiti United coach Innocent Agbana had been contacted to work as assistant to the South American coach.

Chief Chukwumah also said he would be recalling all his players that played for FC Ifeanyiubah last season, as they remain properties of Gabros International.

“I formed this club and have laboured over the years spending billions of my hard earned money to keep the club afloat, from playing in the old professional division one to when we were relegated to the lower division down to amateur league and then to gaining successive promotions back to the Premier League. I will never sit back and watch the club slipped into oblivion.”

Chief Chukwumah went further to invite all talented super players between the ages of 17-22 who has what it takes to compete in tough Nigeria Premier League to report for open screening which has been exclusively fixed to commence on Thursday 10th December 2015 under the watchful eyes of coach Agbana. The venue remains Gabros International Stadium, Beverly Hills, Nnewi in Anambra State. (Pix) Otuocha Township Stadium Underconstruction @ Otuocha Anambra State!

Retaining money in the East is now a must for everybody if we will survive the coming sabotage of our investments in other regions of Nigeria!.... Sports is another area that can attract wealth to our State/Region if well planned!. The govt/Individuals can set up something like Anambra League or The Eastern League where Corporate sponsors or Richmen & Women from the East should contribute!.Anambra State or The Eastern Musical Show should be organised once or twice a year! I like this hotel above. the ambiance will be great

Our hotels are really coming up in standard, but somehow, we still build them like apartments or flats as we say in Naija. the general ambiance is still not what it should be. I think we should always create a drive in reception lobby as in an average hotel and then make the environment great.

We can copy how others build small and beautiful hotels to make our own hotels great.

I personally hope the Agulu Hotel and the Onitsha hotel on Park road will look like the second and last picture respectively, because they are the same pattern & style.

The bane of the Blackman is myopia/shortsightedness and quick-fix to problems
Every state/region in Nigeria has squandered real opportunity for development.
The govs with SE inclusive lacked foresight and most had no economic plan.
Assuming the SE region had an economic team by 1999 with foresight , with focused investment in 3 critical areas such as transportation(railway system and a seaport), agriculture and industrialisation by now region would have been a haven for foreign investors.
I believe that if each governor contributes about 100 million Naira per month since 1999 towards a railway system that will effectively link each of the five eastern states , that by now the project would have been very advanced if not completed.this would have brought regional integration , ease in the movement of goods within the region and would have been the preffered means of transportation as all federal roads in the region is in state of disrepair.
With current decline in global oil prices, most state are running helter skelter seeking for funds to pay ordinary salary with absolutely no money to engage in any serious infrastructural development. The future is really bleak.
I pray that God would give us a second chance.

this is what I have been saying in this thread. Our governors need to take economic leap and do the undone and make things happen. we have to look into regional economic integration and make things happen or else we will keep begging investors to come home. If we had economic plan like you said, i think the economic activities in the regional will have grown by 700percent by now. it is regional economy or we will later run helter skelter for help.

If anyone followed the UN climate change, you will understand that oil isnt going to be anywhere close to coming up again. People have grown wiser now.

The goal of igbo investing outside igboland is to produce revenue (through taxation) within our region. Someone beautifully suggested that the Headquaters of all igbo companies must be located in Igboland. Now if company A with head office in igboland invests in Kaduna or Kebbi for example, it mean that the overall profit of the company will grow. This profit will be sent back to igboland resulting to more revenue for state government. Other benefit is that the company will have more market for their goods and services. Our State governors like Willie Obiano,Nyesom wike, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Okezie Ikpeazu

Achebe hosts artists

The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Ugochukwu Achebe, a major art patron in Africa, recently had over 150 artworks on view in his palace in Onitsha, Anambra State. This was part of the activities to mark this year’s Ofala festival which holds annually in Onitsha, Anambra State.

Oreze III (the king’s crowd), was a group exhibition of paintings, sculpture and ceramic which run for a week was initiated in 2013 by Achebe. The exhibition featured local and international artists. Achebe said that including exhibition in the festival is to encourage artists, especially the younger ones as well as to promote visual art. “As in the previous years, works by younger artists are shown alongside those of the established masters in order to expose the budding artists to more discerning audience,” said Achebe.

Artists from countries such as Germany, Belgium, United Kingdom, Cuba, France, Ghana, Benin Republic, Togo and the United States of America, had their works on display. The exhibition curator, George Edozie said the exhibition; sponsored by Globacom Limited will engage more international artists in its next edition.

The festival was officially opened when the Obi unveiled a bronze sculpture of his predecessor; beside the sculpture were other 20 bronze sculptures of other Obis who had ruled the Onitsha Kingdom. The festival attracted sons and daughters of Onitsha who are home and in Diaspora as well as people from all works of life to celebrate the rich cultural Ofala festival. He has a large number of artworks in his collections.

The festival dates back many years when the Onitsha Kingdom was founded by the first Obi of Onitsha. This made it the 15th time the Obi is hosting the festival since his installation on the throne. The age grade game was not left out, women in their various colourful Igbo attires danced to entertain the audience and Obi who later performed the royal dance, adorned in his royal attire while his chiefs accompanied him.

The special guest of honour, Professor of Art History and Art Critics, University of Nigerian Nsukka (UNN); Ola Oloidi, while declaring the exhibition open said: “Without doubt, Obi Achebe, for his creative innovations and spiritedly dispassionate interest in cultural, particularly art, events, should be recognised along with those great African kings who manifestly and instrumentally propagated the course of Art for their people.”

Oloidi added that the word Ofala did not vibrate into his mind “and it remained so until dates when some Obi (king) of Onitsha began to popularize the festival, particularly in Igbo land and later throughout Nigeria.”

The importance of a seaport in SE can not be over emphasized. Having a functioning seaport seated in that region is synonymous to an economic revolution, in the sense that Igbos can do business with other part of the world without the involvement of other regions in Naigeria...

The development was revealed by Radio Biafra through
their online website, Biafran Satellite.
According to them, ‘’This strategic move is aimed at
reaching the grassroot people in the northern part of
Nigeria, who are misguided by their elites. The move will
re-educate illiterate and uneducated northerners, who are
usually used to cause mayhem by their elites, on how their
leaders have been deceiving them and leaving them in
abject poverty.’’

You are very right. Investing home does not in any way means that our businesses will runaway from other parts of the country. its like a country sending a missile from its country to another country. let the east be the launching pad and let other people feel our presence. what i am trying to say is that, let only our traders and distributors be in these states while our production units and technical team be in the east.

this will reduce the number of dependent igbos in other parts of the country and have only the working class and other people making the region proud through business and ideas there. we will create jobs for our people in our land and have our revenue within our shores. so there will be net in take of revenue into the region than out of the region.

Anambra State has emerged winner of the 55th Independence Anniversary President’s Inter-SUBEB Debate Competition. 15 states and Police Secondary School participated in the competition, which took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The states are Anambra, Imo, Kaduna, Zamfara, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Niger, Oyo, Ogun, Kwara and Benue, Kebbi, Ebonyi, Kastina, and Plateau State. Kaduna came second while Niger emerged third.

Ogun State government sponsored the competition which held for four days and featured preliminary, second, quarter final, semi-final and final stages. While addressing the debaters and the panel of judges, Elder Dare Oritu, the National Co-coordinator of the President’s Schools Debate Competition, urged the students to be confident as they present their arguments. Oritu added that members of the advisory board of the President’s Schools debate Competition are men of integrity .

The Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Science justified the decision of Ogun State government to organise the debate and assured the debaters and judges and other dignitaries that the state would give them excellent reception all though their stay in Abeokuta.

The chairman of the Advisory Board of the debate competition, Professor Jerry Agada, thanked the state government for hosting the competition and assured the audience that the Board will continue to work hard to ensure success of the competition. The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Mrs Yetunde Onanuga, represented Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
The dinner at the end of the competition was hosted by former President Obasanjo at the Liberty Hotel, Abeokuta.

Tex42:
The importance of a seaport in SE can not be over emphasized. Having a functioning seaport seated in that region is synonymous to an economic revolution, in the sense that Igbos can do business with other part of the world without the involvement of other regions in Naigeria...

Look at someone who is reasoning like me. A seaport in the east is the economic revolution of the east. since we the igbos do business with the sea, it is necessary for us to have our own waterways.

this will push many igbo businessmen back home with immediate effect.

this can only be achieved through economic integration and igbos coming together and saying this is what they want for themselves.

southeast economic summit comes to mind. Pitifully, our leaders, governors are too busy scanting for FG peanut cum allocation when they should be looking inwards for revenue generation.

Regional Integration has always been talked about, but never implemented. See our vehicle for regional integration here: http://www.senec.org.ng/senec/index.php
http://www.senec.org.ng/senec/index.php/news/36-news-events/57-imperative-of-south-east-nigeria-economic-commission-senec

Our problem in nigeria isn't a lack of ideas, but we don't implement anything.
The need for a close regional integration led to the SENDEF launching last year headed by Dr. paschal Dozie to source funds for specific key projects. i don't even think they have held any meetings since then! .http://allafrica.com/stories/201411150084.html

We should pursue 3 Agenda; [size=13pt]
--1.They should pursue the SENDEF dream they launched last year to pursue precisely what you are saying and secure funding for key regional infrastructure projects.

--2. Develop railway network in the zone.Extend a line from Enugu to Onitsha and another from Enugu - Abakaliki. The FG under Buhari APC won't do it, but we can get individuals to invest and charge toll fee.

--3. Develop the Coal Industry by creating industries using our coal for power generation and steel production etc. Develop the oil and gas sector by creating industries to use the product. Again, the FG under Buhari won't do it, so we need our entrepreneurs to lead the initiative. The way Dangote is investing in refineries and power plants in the north.
We can approach the world bank or AfDB for assistance with the infrastructure funding

South Africa still use their coal powered steam engine train to transport people and goods across that great country. The cross country train ride is also one great tourist attraction in South Africa.

Just imagine if we had a cargo & passenger train with this number of coaches carrying all the agricultural produce, yams, livestock, tomatoes, industrial raw materials etc from the Abakaliki to Onitsha and when its going back, it hauls all the petrol, imported goods etc back. Each of these coaches in the size of one 18 wheeler trailer truck. Imagine how many 18 wheelers were taken off the South African roads just by this single trip. Also a line from PH ONNE seaport to Onitsha via Enugu can haul all the goods from that seaport directly to Onitsha if we extended the present Enugu-PH railway line to reach Onitsha and Abakaliki.

The second use of the SA rail system is tourism and basic transportation of people around the country.

True, some require FG permission like extension of railway lines, but others like power plants and steel making factories requires less permission.
However, having a clear picture of what is required and the obstacle does let people see exactly what the obstacles are chiefly, over centralization of every authority at the federal level and micro-managing Nigeria from Abuja. Which has made things too cumbersome and unworkable.
That is why Nigeria has to be restructured.
