Morg all..
I am new here..

On d day of interview I packaged myself as usual, I was preg but not visible to all.
Went in.
VO: v u been hia b4
Me: I dint refer to 2013 refusal oo, I jus went straight to sayin yes, was hia last month wit my family, cldnt cum in cuz of d issue I had, form DS 160 dint tally wit my appointment letter. My hubby & son's visa has been approved.
VO: asked if I v any reason to go to d hospital , or If I v prepared any medical plans.
Me: I said no.
VO: He said if I eventually go to d hospital I wnt b attended to, dat I will b turned back.
Me: Ok.

VO: we r Tryin to encourage couple/family travellin. Ur Visa has been approved.
Omo menh I no fit shout. I jus say thank you waka commot. God is gud.
Unfortunately, we cldnt travel on d 24th of Nov due to my hubby's tight working schedule. So we v decided that I Shld wait & v d baby in US.
I v learnt 4rm d lovely mama's in d house dat I will need to mail d embassy of my change of intent.
I will b due in march 2016 & I intend travellin in mid Jan as my ticket has been booked already. I intend birthing in Texas, Elpaso. Thou will spend time in Indianapolis 4a month.

Just give birth to your baby in Nigeria, cuz even if you enter from a safe POE. It's in record that you were asked. You won't be able to renew this visa

The change of intent you read about is not for people that were pregnant and went to the embassy 'packaged' or people who 'outright lied'.

Do yourself a favor by saving yourself the embarrassment of a possible deportation / ban

I'd be damned if they already won't start to tough light the "change of intent" matter.

I wish people who were turned back at the airport came here and shared their story, that would deter others

firsttymum:
All these stories of I wanted to travel and we later changed our mind to birth in US instead.... is becoming so popular. These people are aware of this thread.

Good thinking but I disagree with the advice tho, the innocent baby should not pay for mommy's indiscretion and even if she's unable to renew her visa, she'll remember that she's the mother to a citizen and smile.

no one is angry with u.

But u lied and that's a huge thing.
Change of intent is if u got ur visa for vacation and u weren't asked about being pregnant and den u now wanna go give birth... In that case it's change of intent.

I did notification of intent cos I hade travelled with my visa and when I was going to give birth I had to notify the embassy.

So if u lied when asked, at the poe may b turned back... So u out rightly lied.
That's not all, all u told the VO has been imputed into d system.

So
1. It's either u travel to the US and come back
2. You take d risk and travel and pray fervently that u pass tru the poe smoothly.
But note renewing ur visa will b a big deal because of this lie.
3. You save your self the risk of deportation and give birth to d baby here.
4. Write to the embassy explain yourself and apologize for the lie.

This matter caused a huge fight between hubby and I cos after I learnt what I know now I called the agent and told him off. He vexed and called hubby. Hubby was very upset that I insulted the agent. Why won't I insult her him? When he made us pay so much to put us in trouble.
In fact I will even add half day fasting. I believe it would end in praise. I'll definitely keep you all updated

Dear Mamas and Papas, please there's no need to conceal the fact that you're pregnant. It's not a crime as long as you have made preparations. Really these frequent "change of intent" emails may start to lose value. It's not really chaget of intent because that was your intention ab initio. I had a choice to use Dropbox but after learning from favouredgal and others that sometimes they hold on to your passport for weeks and then call you for interview, hubby and I decided to go for an interview. When I showed up I was almost 35 weeks preggers Nd looking more like 42 weeks grin. Hubs said people were looking at me like "is this woman crazy! Coming to interview with big belle" lol anyway interview didn't take long at all. I'll transcribe below
Visa Officer: good morning
Hubs n I: good morning
VO: looks at our passports and says we should have used drop box instead of coming all the way
Me: we decided to come because we learnt that we may be invited for an interview since I'm going to have a baby.
VO: smiles and says "that makes sense"
VO: I see you're going to Florida. Have you contacted a doctor?
Me: Yes, showing him my appointment confirmation
VO: When are you due?
Me: January ..
VO: How much is it going to cost you?
Hubby: Approximately 10K
VO: Types for a while and says your visas have been approved.
He didn't ask for documents at all. Except for my appointment letter from the Doctor. People around were looking shocked even the security lol cos they had assumed we were going to be thoroughly questioned and maybe rejected.
I'm not saying everyone's interview will be that brief and uneventful but if you're prepared there won't be a problem. We carried both our bank statements and receipts from my first delivery yet didn't show them.
Fast forward to POE at Miami. Travelled with mum and son
CBP: Welcome to Miami. Are you here on vacation?
Me: I'm here to have a baby.
CBP asks my mum when last she was in the US. She just returned November and also went with me for my 1st childbirth.
CBP asked how long she stayed when my son was born? We both answered 2 months. Then he stamps her in for 6 months and stamps my son's passport. Then tells me to come with him to verify some info. I was preparing for those long Houston detentions. Lol. Turned out otherwise. When we got to the other room, he handed my passport to another guy and left. The guy looked into my passport and entered some data into his system. He was looking at his screen then less than 5 mins later he called my name and handed my passport back to me and aside I was free to go. We declared food but nothing was seized. Now doing some sightseeing and shopping before baby comes next month.
Honesty is always the best policy. Especially when you are asked a direct question about requiring medical care. Many agents are clueless and will bring you more harm than good. Best to stay away from them. Wishing everyone a happy yuletide.

I strongly align with no 2 as a solution. Na extra money but na. To avoid stories that touch or end in eyaaa.
How far gone are u? Are u showing? Can u, oga and pikin take the vacation like jan? When asked purpose of visit u say family vacation and shopping. Then u come back and u can now include in the letter that u want to birth there after u visited and read about the healthk and u are writing because u were specifically asked and u said u had no such plans.
Exchange rate is not smiling but what can one do? Look for a cheap flight egs arik to ny or check ifthe flash sales are stiill on.

To lend my voice to this matter, I believe a lot of people are taking wrong advice from trusted people. I remember how our US based friends advised us to hide the pregnancy. These same people even pressured us to accept government aid when the baby came; we refused obviously.

I told my colleague about this thread and our experience but he chose to go with an agent who "knows better" and they lied about their pregnancy. Now they have their visa but they have to fast and pray for months just to be allowed entry; not worth the risk if you ask me.

Thank you to everyone who comes here to admit that they hid the fact that they were pregnant during the interview, I'm not judging you but y'all should know even people who Did nothing wrong get delayed for hours at secondary inspection.
