leofab:Lol.... don't quote me out of context ma'am. Jesus Christ is the son of God... But if you look at the concept of trinity(God the father, God the son and God the holy spirit) then yes he is also God. He came died and resurrected and God the father gave him authority over all things both in heaven and on earth that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow. Jesus will also say in one of his gospels that he is one with the father and that whosoever seeth him has also seen the father. |

lookandlaff:Excuse me. The world is just 6000+ years old. Go on, quote science and radiocarbon dating technique as much as you like. So you think I don't watch Discovery Channel? Referring to Benin bronze head as a mark of advanced civilization goes against sound judgment. Technology simply means application of science (perhaps separation of bronze from its ore in this case by Benin is what I believe is been referred to here). Besides, a better example of ancient civilization can be found in Egypt. You should also note that Christianity and science were never in conflict: Atheism and Christianity are. |

The pastor who made that empty tank statement is daddy G.O Enoch Adegboye. He said it in an interview with a Nigerian newspaper. That is how they will continue to hold Africans at ransom because we are yet to comprehend that what we think are gods and spirits are electromagnetic radiation. Unless we kick religion and it's murderous and 'it's the wish of God' attitude, we'll never develop because when anything happens we attribute it to the wish of God. We never accept responsibility for our actions and embrace hard work. |

kingsilly:You are right but the bible wasn't mistaken when it said that we should not forsake the gathering of brethrens. God knew that times such as this will come and he also knew that some of us may out of subtle and unassuming nature may pull out and go into personal worship only without seeing the need for corporate worship anymore. But, do you know what your going to church may result into by next week? You may not know who your revelation of the gospel truth may affect out of those worshipers who are still blind to the deep things of the spirit. You are no longer going to that church to fulfill all righteousness but going to do the work of an evangelist in love. You can question some certain doctrines in the process and ask questions in open discussions, the religious folks may shut you out but you wouldn't know who you have unknowingly triggered that urge of seeking to find out the truth when they leave that gathering. I believe you also want someone else to come to the same knowledge of truth which you have, won't you? Remember a salt can't affect the soup if it stays in the salt shaker. |

IRREVO:That's exactly the point,sir/ madam. You see, if you or the majority of people count and rely upon an invisible skyfairy as your biggest strength, then therein lies the main problem of Nigeria. So, you have just confirmed what the learned gentleman is asserting. |

leofab:So your evidence of disproving the existence of a supreme being is because you can't behold him with your mere human eyes? Does out mean that once you can't see something then it dosent exist? The phone that you are using to type these things can you see the electromagnetic waves surrounding it and drawing signals to it? But does it mean they dosent exist? You can't yet figure out millions of hidden discoveries scattered all over the universe and yet you want the creator to appear to you before you believe that he exists? Are you actually being logical or merely arrogant and foolish? Am saying this in love, but how dumb can you get and still breathe? God exists and the evidence are all around you, and it's not a matter of proof for you, it's a matter of trying to deny and suppress them. If you want to see God truly, seek him and you will find him. He always shows up if you are humble enough to accept that you are confused about the whole thing and need the truth and not going about it in arrogance and waving of anything you don't understand. |

NORAD: NORAD:Hehehe. 6000 years old. LOL. You used a smartphone made of transistors, LED etc (working theory heavily dependent on quantum mechanics) to send this message, yet you refuse to accept scientific dating techniques based on same/similar theory. Also, calm down on the "billions of planets" talk, under two thousand exoplanets have been discovered and although a bunch of them are outside the habitable zone, not many of them have been fully confirmed to be devoid of life. Although even if all approx. 2000 were to yield negative result on the search for extraterrestrial life, it still isn't enough to overturn the huge statistical unlikelihood that we are alone in the universe. Finally, this isn't a competition. Scientists do not think of religion when doing research. They merely observe physical phenomena and strive to provide testable theories with the aim of obtaining a closer approximation to the truth of the universe. What comes after is basically the philosophical impact of the facts gained from probing our universe, which usually serves as counter-evidence for all that religion stands for. Have a nice day and read real science texts, not the pseudo-scientific garbage floating around on the internet. |

KingEbukasBlog:You are welcome! Your lessons were educative but I think they were not encompassing. I noticed that you centred now on the NT to drive home your point. First, I will like to tell you vehemently that God as a concept is a mystery which you can't explain fully as it presents itself. But one thing is sure, God is a spirit. Out of all the prophets and servants of God in the OT, only Moses was graced to see the back of God because he chose to show Moses (Exodus 33:20). The bible as I have told you earlier was a historical book of the Jews who sought to explain where they originated and their relationship with God. So recorded in the bible is the Jews' relationship with God. The first part is the relationship with God the father, who created them and catered for them. The second part is the relationship with God the son, who saved them. The last is the relationship with God the Holy Spirit, who comforted and sanctified them. The Old Testament captured more of God the father, while the New Testament captured God the Son and Holy Spirit. You cited scriptural quotes of God the Son. Yes, those verses quoted showed God the son who was made man in order to save us yet those living at that time did not see him as God. For they never believed that a God could be in a man's form. For them, he is an Almighty Spirit (See Luke 22: 66- 70). While on earth, Jesus Christ though in the form of man was always God (See Philippians 2: 6- 11). Check these biblical quotes that showed the Spirit nature of Jesus Christ, God the Son: (Read John 20;Luke 24 [Resurrection, appearances and disappearances of Jesus and Ascension; these are not man's qualities]; even devil is afraid of him, not because he was a man but God, which is spirit (Mark 1: 21-28; Mark 5:6- ; the disciples despite their little faith which was enough according to Jesus were not able to drive out the demon (Matthew 17: 14 - 20), yet Jesus was able to do what men can't do (isn't it a pointer that Jesus Christ was a spirit too; Matthew 14: 13-21 tells you that Jesus Christ fed 5000 after the disciples who were men saw the impossibility of them feeding the 5000 men yet Jesus Christ did it; Matthew 14: 22-32 showed Jesus walking on water to the extent the disciples exclaimed "Truly you are the Son of God!" The foregoing I believe will address the obvious loopholes in your lessons and will go on to substantiate my only contention that God is a spirit. As for the Catholic Church, I need you to read from the last chapter of John to the chapter 11 of the Acts of the Apostles. After reading them, ask yourself which church upholds the dictates stipulated in those chapters now and, still reveres all the apostles there now. Just one holy Catholic Church. Thanks for reading! |

LucifersTongue:Thank you but I'll stick to my 6000+ years theory about the earth's age. Who's talking about discovery of exoplanets? Aren't there billions of stars out there, and don't scientists believe each star is a sun, having its own system of planets? Of course we're not alone in the universe. Isn't your moniker LucifersTongue? You should know better then. |

There are no problem about religions o,we humans are the problems of ourselves.our mentalities have been corrupt, our hearts have been blackened by evil things. If you say it is because you can not see God ,that is y you cannot serve you, that means you are not existing. We all know that we cannot see air but are we not feeling it on our body People are dying everyday and non of them has come back, where are they going to? Rain is coming down from the sky,who sent it down to the earth? TO BE HONEST WITH OURSELVES,OUR RELIGIOUS LEADERS HAVE MADE THE RELIGIONS To BE AN AVENUE FOR EXPLOITATION. Infact, islam want us to think and reasoning not just following leaders dogmatically.please ,GOD EXISTS oooooooollll. |

[quote author=superior1 post=41611071]I have more than 10years training as a scientist, it doesn't change my position about God. The root of this article is atheism and this is evident in his submission about miracles. That said, anyone can make a claim but to be regarded as a statement of fact, you have to give empirical backing, where this is not, the opinion is subjective at best. That religion has a eroded the logical reasoning of Nigerians is a serious clim, irrespective of our personal opinions(which cant be same), you have to give verifiable empirical facts to support that assertion.[/ qu 10 years experience in what discipline? A practicing scientist? Or a certificate based scientist? But all is well shaa. Have yourself a good Sunday |

NORAD:Of course, you have a right to stick with whatever belief you hold - even in the face of increasing number of evidence which makes you willfully ignorant unfortunately. There're trillions of stars in the universe but I have no idea where you got your information that they're all devoid of biological living organisms. I no know any demons o, them be fictional characters! LucifersTongue was picked cos it sounds nice, could've picked FlyingMonkey. Wouldn't change a thing. Since you're sure of the existence of supernatural beings on some of those planets + 6000 year old earth, kindly provide proof to the general scientific community and proceed to bag your Nobel Laureate. At least, you go make us proud! |

LucifersTongue:A FlyingMonkey has a monkey in it while a LucifersTongue has a Lucifer in it. My point? You chose the name of something Christianity asserts exists (in your subconscious, at least, you admit he exists then). What's in a name, you say? I got my fact from the Bible, and your religion, science, is yet to prove me wrong. Let me at least bask in my ignorance until your science puts me to shame. Nobel laureate? You mean the Nobel Prize? Anyway, ain't interested in such. My Master turned down earthy glory for the Father's will. I intend to follow suit. As for you, what have you contributed to the scientific body of knowledge? You speak so well for science, but I wonder if it's okay to defend something you know very little about. You read all this things up, I presume. And you BELIEVE them, it seems. You're free to prove me wrong if you think you're some fine scientist or something like that. |

leofab:It's quite incredible, don't you think. I mean the Bible (that you people claim is a conspiracy)... that over 40 writers were involved and that it took a whole 1,600 years for them to do it. And yet its wonderful unity! What a conspirac-ious book it is! A book that showed me the right way, melted my stony and arrogant heart, showed me to love my neighbour, gave me indescribable peace, gave me hope of heaven, gave me power to live DAY AFTER DAY WITHOUT SIN. What a book you are! When I thought about giving my heart to the Lord then, I thought the Christian life was going to be a boring one. How wrong I was! The peace that came over me immediately I confessed my sin... I'll let Jesus finish this: At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children" (Mat 11:25). |
