Why do you guys cherry pick to buttress the erroneous practices of the Catholic church ?

Should I show you how you supported my stance on the matter ?
Prove that the cross in your church is not a statue.

Well that's true that's why we Nigerians hardly produce any world class scientist but the author in a way sounding like Nnamdi KANU from his write up he is citing revolution to cease power and make change.

That's true besides heaven helps those who help themselves. Revolution for now is under pending because I see a light in charge of Nigerian affairs let's just give me time and pray for him to succeed.

Sai buhari
from your comment your one of those the author is referring to. Let buhari tell us y he collected anything from pdp knwing they are very corrupt. N an average northan muslim would die cuz of buhari y? Cus he is their brother n d fg refuse to call d fulami herds men to order cus they are their brothers. They refuse to embrace civilization cuz to them every step in dat direction is haram. From d on going I smh for nija. We are not even ready for d so called change. We knw our problems but fear wount let us act

It's your money; spend it as wisely as you can.

Last year, the issue of first fruits came up and I didn't support it at all....All those crap belongs in the Jewish religion but someone we've gullible allowed ourselves to be scammed in the name of religion. I give to the needy not the greedy........
My dear, we won't stop questioning these issues.
I'm done with mindless religion.
When you point out killings in the name of religion in the bible they say it was the old Testament but when it comes to the laws on first fruit and offering and tithe. Pastors will start quoting malachi

That's the way it works.....selective application of the words of the Bible. I'm of age, and I should know what and how to handle my money.

Emancipate yourself from mental slavery.
None but ourselves can free our own mind.

Nigerians will rather pray than protest an unfavourable government policy while the Whites that brought us religion will take to their streets in thousands whenever they sense any injustice from their government.

Africans have this terrible habit of going overdrive on whatever they copy from outsiders

Religion and critical thinking are mutually exclusive.
Wow, I've thought this to myself many times and you phrased it perfectly.

i wouldn't say religion is evil. It has it's purposes.
It's just like meat. Or sugar. Only good in small quantites. Too much and the whole body breaks down.
Sir, when I talk about religion,,, I speak as someone who was born in it and managed to escape. It serves no purpose
Only the pastors gain economic and social power from their gullible congregation

"Religion has killed rational thinking in this country. I say this all the time, our country is still in a pre-scientific era. That is why things are like this. We don’t think logically; that is why any ruler, any fool would seize the reins and rule us, because we would always find an excuse for being ruled or being led by the nose.

Not long ago a pastor said he was between two cities and he discovered that the fuel in his car had run out. He actually checked and saw the fuel in the car was completely gone. But because of his act of faith and on the strength of his prayers, he was able to do two hundred miles on an empty tank!

When he declared this testimony, people clapped and shouted “ Hallelujah!” I never heard anybody say how can?"

"Nigerians don’t ask questions; that is why the imams and the pastors lead them by the nose, and the politicians also complete their humiliation and disempowerment. And between the clerics and the political functionaries, there is a very close liaison.

It’s a kind of power structure; one controls the political, social realm, the other controls the spiritual, metaphysical realm and they are together. Many Nigerians are not rational, interrogative people.

In fact, in this country today, if you are the interrogative type you are easily labelled, branded, and condemned. People even wonder: why are you always asking questions?"

"Another problem: well, our people are docile and the reason why they take all kinds of cheating is that many of them envisage themselves in the position of power someday, too.

If I am X and the oppressor is Y, and the oppressor is oppressing me, stealing all the money, and making life difficult for me and my children, I am not likely to attack him. I’ll pray to God to let my own “miracle” happen so that someday, he will go and I will be in his place. No; I am praying for him to go but for the structure to remain."

Professor rNiyi Osundare (born in 1947 in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria) is a prolific poet, dramatist and literary critic. He gained degrees at the University of Ibadan (BA), the University of Leeds (MA) and York University, Canada (PhD, 1979). Previously professor (from 1989) and Head of English (1993–97) at the University of Ibadan, he became professor of English at the University of New Orleans in 1997. Niyi has a wife, Kemi, and three children, two girls and a son who still lives in Nigeria. His deaf daughter is the real reason Niyi settled in the United States. She could not go to school in Nigeria so they found a school in the U.S. for her. They moved with her so Niyi and Kemi could be closer to her.

He has always been a vehement champion of the right to free speech and is a strong believer in the power of words, saying, "to utter is to alter". Osundare is renowned for his commitment to socially relevant art and artistic activism.

The Athiests are not irrational. They are thinkers too.
Re: Religion Has Killed Rational Thinking Of This Country - Prof. Osundare by orisa37: 10:35am On Jan 10, 2016
I regret I talked about Athiests being rational in my first comment. In contrast with "Re: Africa, Foreign Religion and Cultural Genocide-Johnydon22; in this same Religious Section of Today, the imparatives are:- 1, There is a Need for a Sovereign National Conference(SNC) of LG by LG of elected Representatives of Nigerians to deliberate and Print out The Cultures and Believes of Bayajida, Oduduwa and Eri people. 2, Draw up a line of best fit as hamonising and integrated Bible, Constitution, for Nigeria and 3, Reconcile their findings with King James Version of Bible and the Qurran.

[quote author=erusen post=41609399]and who told u europe dont believe in god.is not even about believing in god,it is what u do in gods name that is the problem.even germany, russia, italy, belgium, france etc and muslim countries in europe have 70% of people believing in god if not more, but they dont wait for god to run their lives, the build and mentain their countries by their selves.their religous leaders are the right ones
I dont know about that anyway, but what i really meant was that most of them dont go to church, and i can put the figures at 80 to 85% if i were to estimate.

religion is evil. christianity, Islam etc are the worst things to have happened to humanity. .especially black africans

both religions have made us into mental slaves. ..worshipping dead jews and serving mythical outrageous "Gods", insulting our ancestors, abandoning our culture and traditions, taking away our pride as blacks and members of our various ethnic nations, the idea that everything foreign is better....these religions have destroyed our civilizations, turned us to people without direction. ..I mean if you need foreigners to tell you about your Creator and believe them over your own ancestors. .then you have a serious problem
There is nothing wrong with religion if we could actually get to God through it! The problem is that religion is not miracles but law! We were meant to establish the Jewish law. Forget about science! Even Job knew that the earth was round and thatq there was an asthenosphere!
