PRYCE:You are on point. If we pass such as law, then a bigot like PMB will appoint everybody in his cabinet from Daura. We are not one tribe, and we can never be one tribe. if we respect each other and show love everytin will be fine. |

IF and WHEN our- - President - Senators - Representatives - State Lawmakers amend our CONSTITUTION to allow for this we would have made plenty of PROGRESS as a nation. The residency status should be tied to 3-5 years of TAX payment compliance. |

ToyinDipo:It is mediocrity to say that 'we have to leave with that'. Leave with a hurriedly arranged and motive based system of coexistence? It took america, Lincoln and co, almost a decade to package a good enough constititution such that the great multiplicity of ethnicity in America makes no difference, even till tomorrow Now that we are better civilized why not everyone sit and draft a near perfect referandum to help us stay together. |

What is wrong with having both state of origin and state of residence on the same document. |

I am not in support of this. Such census done by using 'state of residence' instead of 'state of origin' will never tell the true ethnic population figure of each ethnic group and will only help to swell South West and North figures given that up to 40% of Igbos do not reside in Igboland but in other regions of Nigeria. This so-called plan is to only take advantage of the huge Igbo population living outside Igboland. |

ToyinDipo:Learn to follow the line of discuss. My summary is that great nations today at some point took their destiny in their hands and designed what was best for them. There is no utopia anyweherbut you limit a problem to the bearest minimum within your capacity. So dont tell me about blacks in america. If the founding fathers did not work on coexistence things would have been worst off there. I maintain that is |

Common Federal appointment, it was filled with Fulani / Hausa. Then if we throw away our birth right, that means we are finished completely Abi na completely finished. Useless government. We can't throw away our states of origin and our Village names. Infact all my children must answer Ubong, Chidima, Ajoke, Salamatu, Ibinabo, Woyengibara, etc |

| Re: FG To Remove State Of Origin by stephany007: 7:31pm On Jan 10, 2016 |
what nigeria needs is true federalism not state of residence cause this will only favour fulani that move about ability to be able to reside any where dey go and that is serious problem for nigeria. |

| Re: FG To Remove State Of Origin by ToyinDipo(m): 7:39pm On Jan 10, 2016 |
Lionsclaw:I still maintain you know nothing about what you are saying, you don't need to get aggressive because I disproof your point. Please argue intelligibly. Like I told you there is still the case of majority and minority in US, note that. Move away from history channel, plug your hand into the nearest electric socket, and get current. I will not continue this argument with you if you continue to sound like ignoramus. I will have liked to discuss with you extensively what happened and happens in America, places like former east/west Germany, north/south Korea, Spain... but you seem not to worth my energy. There are some fundamental/inherent issue that needs to be thrashed out, but unfortunately can't be, when dealing with tribalism... that's fact |
| Re: FG To Remove State Of Origin by akanbiaa(m): 7:41pm On Jan 10, 2016 |
hope it will work if well implemented, if not it will be hard for a chukwudi to work in kebbi state government or a ajala to work with enugu state government and a Musa to work with Bayelsa state Government. except if name of applicants are only known after passing test and interview and offered jobs but thats if those doing the interview cannot differentiate. |
| Re: FG To Remove State Of Origin by bidemi12(m): 7:46pm On Jan 10, 2016 |
PRYCE:You are funny. You want tribalism to stop but you don't want to do anything to stop it. Normal countries only have state of residence not origin. I see this as a first step to stopping the tribalism issue. In fact i am surprised that buhari is taking the step. Can he really be the "special one?". No. I will wait and see. Let me not get too far ahead of myself. |

No one goes to the SE. No one can talk about state of residence in the face of Daggers up north We already know what obtains in SS. Yoruba people will regret this! Can one imagine America going to the meeting of the Americas and declare open border to everyone? MAY GOD ALMIGHTY PUT THE LOVE OF YORUBALAND FIRST AND FOREMOST IN THE HEART OF YORUBA LEADERS! Can someone please say a BIG AMEN to this! |

I have very bad news for the ethnic bigots, the suferers of superiority complex, the racists, and narow minded folks on this thread. The following provision will become part of the Amended 1999 constitution in a matter of months: a citizen of Nigeria is an indigene of a particular community of a state in Nigeria if he was born in that state One day, the governor of Lagos will say yammiri/yim miri (give me water) when he requests for iced water out of Alausa. ![]() Now, since the amendment to the constitution has not yet been ratified by the number of states required (Thanks to GEJ), how does this administration plan to "initiate policies to ensure that Nigerians are free to live and work in any part of the country by removing state of origin, tribe, ethnic and religious affiliations and replace those with state of residence." ? Osinbajo and Buhari will fall my hand if they try to circumvent our constitution blatantly. |
