Well, I'm not a lady but I really do know that rape issues are often very traumatic and even the slightest reminder of whatever happened could trigger very strong emotions which is what may have happened the first time you asked her that question. Processing such feelings aren't as easy as it seems until you find yourself faceing one.

However, the mistake she made was leaving it for too long before getting back to you. I would advice you to carry out investigations on the matter without her knowledge as to prevent story-maneuvering from the potential friends and family members of hers you would be doing your questioning to. In the meantime, tell her you need some time to figure things out. All these, you must do if you have intentions of getting back with her. Else, hit the nail on the head and get things over with.

On the off chance that her story is true, I may want to charge you with the task of comforting her the more as it may have been the reason she had forgotten about it (well, not totally) until recently.

I had no choice that to abort it(sobbing).

I was dumbfounded, I was looking like someone who just missed a flight. The point is this, I have no problem accepting her back but why did she wait for two weeks before narrating this? Was she taught of what to say? Could this be a cooked up story? Can I ask any of her family members about the incident?
