Visa Expiration Date is just the last date u can use the Visa to travel into the US. If your Visa expires on Dec 31 u can still travel on Dec 31 provided u will arrive in the US on the 31. The length of your stay is not on the Visa it is on the I-94. People do have expired Visa but their I-94 is still valid. A US Visa is just for u to travel to a US Point of Entry and apply for entry. The expiration date of the I-94 is the main thing.
The Immigartion Officer at the point of entry will make a decision on how long u will stay depending on your circumstances but they normally give 90 days or 6 months except for people coming for Conference or Training that has a specific end date

Well said but in reality after 9/11, it is extremely difficult unless it is a matter of urgency. Cbp officer will have problems with that. It is a dire situation

Good Luck

We don't have soothsayers here. Start by telling us what went wrong, perhaps a few can proffer their ideas and how you can restrategize.

Hello house!! Please I need help. I had an interview today, but unfortunately my confirmation code doesn't correspond with my appointment confirmation code. I was asked to re-schedule an appointment. Now my question is... Do I cancel previous appointment now or in two days time, so I don't have to pay another visa fee. Thanks!

For my son, I created a new profile for him because I had a visa already and I felt it was easier that way. At the interview, I wanted to show the VO my husband's passport data page. The VO asked if my husband had a visa. I said no and the VO said there was no need to show his passport. So, I can safely say that It would be nice to bring along your husband's data page to the kids' interview if your husband has a valid US visa.

I am presently divorced with my hubby though he had a visa and we travelled together the last time with me been the primary applicant and him bn a dependent. I hope this will not affect my children's chances as we have lost contact since the separation.
I have a very good job and head the Women affairs and poverty alleviation department in one of the local govt in Lagos state. I wish to take my children on vacation to make them happy and see their cousins.
Pls fellow nairalanders, I need ur comments and advice.

@seyotek It is within the vo 's power to ask if you if u Are travelling with their father's consent.
The vo may/ may not ask this and like I said before nobody can tell u Your chances.fill your forms properly and hope for the best. All I can tell you Is that there have been cases of vos asking for the Other parent's consent and cases where they didn't.
The advice I can give u is To edit out your personal details from your last post.
And that from my personal experience, when one dosent have confidence u don't get the visa.

@Jw haba! Where is the love?! cheesy

Genuinely will be upfront with you on this (same way the VO will first think I guess). Hope this is not the beginning of a story line to cover your own end of your "former husband" having overstayed and settled in the US sha? Will just follow all the same.

Well, the possibility of your ordeal is there. Mind you, I didn't even think of you relocating before till you just raised that alarm, felt maybe you wanted to go and visit him initially. It's adding up now, you got my mind stretched and calculating the catch big time. "Primary Applicant" may not really have reasons to relocate, but "oga dependent applicant" may have vamoosed (with or without you being privy to such, particularly when I give attention to that sentence "we have lost contact since the separation" and "divorce letter" dimension from your text above, just like that?), and that now is going to affect you and the kids application, the reason you seem not to know his whereabouts in defence. Lady Guinevere, lol, no offense. That's our way na, hence the bank of knowledge/tricks too. I pray make "we" sister and kids own pure if na the truth of her predicament she express sha ooo

Well, except you are an EU/EEC Citizen, then the visa waiver applies.

Or wait! Maybe Nigeria has joined the EEC and we didn't know! Our Presido is a magician like that

Nothing! It's just a fancy paper to get you out of their office without throwing tantrums. I swear I'm not being sacarstic. If you read it, there is nothing there, just a plenty grammar and no message.

Bottomline is better luck next time, or come back when your circumstances change

Truly I have no idea. If the school has refused to give u a letter, then they have refused to give u a letter.
The ball is now in your court whether to apply without the letter. Whether the vo will ask for it remains to be seen.
Note: Your OVERALL circumstance is weighed by the vi and not the fact that u have/do not have a letter simplicita
