He don't wanna rent the houses to Nigerians because the only Nigerians that wants to rent those houses are Yoruba.

I bet he will change his mind when an igbo guy offers him some cool cash.
You know we don't play around.
Especially those Anambra state boys, they will have 5 houses, four 2015 range Rover, 6 shops, 900 million in the bank and they will still tell you "We are just managing"

So funny. You got jokes. Its a known FACT nobody likes renting to igbos in lagos. Dts why theyre concentrated in festac.

It has nothing to do with the colour or the religion.its purely a matter of highest bidder.Which is also not too fair.I know all this because that's where am residing.

but you know, this fall in gas price to like 25 dollars a barrel is a blessing in disguise. they say nigeria produces 3 million barrels a day so meaning the whole country of 180 million people only makes about 80 million dollars a day. now you have to know all these lebanese and indians are vultures who have come to feed on the carcass of the dead. when oil was 140 dollars a barrel all these foreign vultures descended on nigeria. now that oil is going out of style watch all these lebanese and chinese start slowly trickling back and returning to their own country because there is no more money in nigeria. so it is a blessing in disguise. any opinions on this post is welcome
your head dey their, I can't wait till those dudes leave and we start producing real valuable products to sell abroad, I tell you this crude oil crash is a blessing in disguise.

very well said. all the foreign vultures will depart, we will get our country back, no more free money floating around anymore and now only the hardworking and innovative will prosper. no more champagne lifestyle just because you happened to be born into a family of looters stealing our oil. the wealth created now will be well earned. we will return to the days when a rich man was an innovative man who contributed to the society for his wealth to be achieved. i think we will be great again but this transition period will be painful at first but once we get over that pain, we will go back to the days of yore when prestige and dignity was earned and not given

Was James denied the house because he was not Indian or Lebanese? No...because he couldn't afford the rent. He should learn to hang his hat where his hand can reach. Landlords would do whatever they can get away with to get more money in their pockets....don't blame them... blame the authorities for turning a blind eye to the establishment of neighbourhoods exclusive to particular nationalities. In time they become like a state within a state.

well said, people around me think i don't what I'm saying when I say 'the oil boom was a period of retrogression for us', as it rewarded lazy, violent and corrupt people who swiftly ceased the top notch and powerful positions around quickly and instituted nepotism, so only their families and friends benefited from the system.
But now to earn a dollar you must give people something much more valuable and not less in return, but this is not the case now as only the innovative and enterprising people will be the elites of the country like you said, our federal and state institutions will get the attention they deserve as no more free money to waste on foreign institutions, this economic hardship befalling us and the war against corruption and fraudulent activities will see our women also become enterprising and stop being pleasure fulfillers as no more free money to trow at them.
Like you said hard times are upon us but they will also see the intelligent and innovative people attain positions and control key organizations they are meant to.
I understand fully well that all I am doing could be likened to tautology, but I have always been of the opinion that when someone writes a well meaning and well worded post to me, in this age of word and sentence abbreviations, the least I can do is write back.

lol true that one is obviously typing from Nnewi. even igbo landlords( deltans and rivers too are igbo/biafra right?) do not rent out their house to them. they all say yoruba tenants preferred.

I always wonder why they like festac, ojo etc. most of my igbo friends live there.

How can Nigerians stop this? Ask whoever is representing you at the Parliament whether he/she has ever heard of anti-discrimination laws before. You need to ask because majority of them are slaves who don`t know what a law-maker does. Once laws are passed against the type of discrimination OP is talking about, it is then left for lawyers to embrace it and apply it to the realities being expressed here. Once again, I ask, are there journalists in Nigeria? This is totally unacceptable and the type of nonsense journalists should be exposing and drawing attention to. Lastly we all should know that, majority don`t bring about change, individuals and minority do, so don`t feel powerless inside your own country.

In real sense, this is more of economic reason and not racism as there are lots of Indian businesses within that community( Indian schl, The Bazar, Indian Bar/Restaurant to mention a few).

My Dad is guilty of this though and I'm yet to understand the rationale behind it but it's not for financial reason.

I can tell you the ratio of foreigners to Nigerians in Ilupeju ( Assosciation Avenue down to Town Planning way) is 50:50 but landlords prefer the foreigners to co-habit themselves especially when you have 2 or more foreigners already living in the building.

Wrong there are things we can produce, there are a lot of people with relevant innovative abilities that have not been giving attention, now without oil they will get the needed attention they require.

thats rubbish. my mother has 6 flats with all igbo tenants. they have refused to pay rent and dont want to vacate the premises lol. in fact because of this she has vowed never to get in the renting business again. she wants to sell all her houses. igbo boys have frustrated her.

not saying other tribes dont do this but i am specifically referring this post to you because of the bolded. everybody knows igbo tenants are trouble
grin

your mum is kind.
find a lawyer, issue them quit notice, and another saying you need to recover your property. if they still don't move out, you have every right to throw them out. i think that's how it goes not sure.

the fact that you can't produce anything doesn't mean others can't. if yo don't have the intelligence to produce say so, not everyone is stupid.

you talk like producing something, anything, is rocket science.

Exactly! Inferiority complex is a serious problem amongst most Nigerian/Africans/blacks when they meet other races. I blame it on our govt and how our system is been run over the years

Did u read the article...

Indians and lebanese are willing to pay more for rent. They leave the house when they can't pay rent to avoid issues with the authorities because they don't have complete papers.

Unlike Nigerian tenants who would take the landlord to court when they can't pay rent and this makes them stay in the house for as long as the court case lasts without paying rent...

Its not inferiority complex.. There are families that live on rent money and they don't have jobs.. That's why most people think Yorubas are lazy..

If there is one race i hate the most, its the Indian race as well as Arabs. They are purely inhumane. They are the most annoying people in the world....and their population self na die, fvcking ugly people. Those fools lack the necessary eduction to head top offices and yet the come to into our country without complete paper work, own a firm/industry, import more illiterates from India to head the top offices in the firm....the same applies to Pakistanis and Lebanese and then leave Nigerians with BSc, Msc to feed on leftovers. I think there should be a Law which would see Nigerians hold top offices in firms owned by foreigners, if not all top offices, at least half of them.
