What's the point going for HND when it's not equivalent to BSC?

Nice one op. i am a product of the two systems HND & BSC and i can categorically state the difference. HND is good just like BSC if you really know what you are doing. As per conversion from HND to BSC, please if age is not on your side, weigh your options, it takes time but if you woud'nt mind or u have a regular sponsor you can go for it. if you are to settle with HND, please at least have a good grade at least upper credit with practical experience. after school , learn a skill in line with your chosen field. Engineering students will understand. Good Luck. I see many HND graduates better than BSC in terms of skill acquisition and all.

There's discrimination between HND and BSc. However, even HND and BSc get about the same level of academic training.

To curb it all, in Nigeria, HND, BSc, MSc, et al, are generally jobless.

Get education and keep improving. Be it Secondary School Certificate level, NCE , whichever, just keep updating yourself.

Depends on the University. Unilorin may end up giving you a different course entirely, FUTminna is strictly what you study in ND you get or none.

U dnt need transcript if it is the same school u did ur ND. There are so many coys who employ only HND, dnt think that what u are doing is not good enough..I just got a job in. Multinational company with gud salary and I am an HND holder.

For those that still depends of mummy and daddy you can go for ur Bsc but for some self mades that may not be able to fund Bsc especially here in Nigeria that it's almost all about cash instead of ending up with none, HND is advisable, everybody is not going to look for job there are business owners and CEOs or is the post for only for freshers?

Nigeria will go nowhere until we set our priorities right, technical colleges and polytechnics should be facing a different direction because that is where those that will thrive this economy mostly on the roadsides are made.

We should learn from Asian countries everything is not about long grammer and clean suits yet empty pockets and empty pockets.

op please don't discourage prospects student for going for the choice of there degree I am proud to be an HND holder. cos for me the hype behind Bsc makes me despise the degree and am a fan of practical oriented course and that is the reason I opt for polytechnic school and today I have never regret taking such steps. but i still believe that day our legislative will pass the discrimination bill between HND and Bsc into law. but the most important thing for students is to map out ways to achieve their dreams before they are out the school system because most students are cut unaware and most important thing is to pray that they should find favour and mercy in the labour market.

I am a proud holder of both BSc nd HND.
There s no denial in the profound discrimination btw the two certificates.
I will advice if anybody has the chance to go for BSc tru JAMB or tru DE immediately after OND, such a person shud nt hesitate to do so.
HND is being phased out.
