And when ever he's around , they say kabiesi oo and still sit down. Our culture gives respect and honour to whom its due to irrespective of ur age or position.

It is easy for obasanjo or any older persons to prostrate for ooni because by Yoruba tradition, it is deemed that you are prostrating to the throne which is higher than everyone else, not the person of the oba. Obasanjo was in Ife in private capacity. If he had been a sitting official of state, it will be odd to expect him to prostrate publicly.

The modern democratic equivalent at national level is the bowing before the mace in the legislative houses. Presidents do that. Clinton did that when he came to our National Assembly. It is deemed they are bowing to the sovereignty of the people.

For the guy quoting the bible verse that forbids bowing before kings. Really? Go to YouTube and watch the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1952. Right inside the church there, the bishops, nobles and princes queued up to bow, kneel and kiss the hand of the seating queen who was just 26 years old then.
