All praises be to almighty Allah. Me and my princess are back in Nigeria. I paid 324 dollar to add baby's ticket on BA. I enjoyed my flight with them. My three bags all weighed like 28kg and they accepted all the bags like that and even checked in my hand luggage.

I used dr Amajoh of methodist hospital and she is a very good and humble doctor . I enjoyed her service with that of all the nurses that attended while I was in the hospital. Thank you methodist for all my freebies.
My bill :

Hospital fee: 2500
Doctor's fee 2300(test inclusive)
Paediatrician: 200( 2days )
One day visit to paediatrician after leaving hospital :90(70 doc's fee and 20 new born screening)
Pathology :89.96(after 50% discount)

Paid 120 dollar for baby monitoring when the doctor complained that my water level was low.

I stayed with soul care and I really enjoyed my stay with the concierge. She is a very wonderful woman.

My roomie of life, all is already well by God's grace. Thank you for making my stay an homely one. To all the new friends I made while I was there you all are very wonderful especially favoredgal.

Thank God for this wonderful opportunity.

Please Gurus this Letter of Intent...can anyone help with a "successful " format. I dun searcn, can't see any.

Would have gone "do a search" grin but will not cos you are helpful too... This is mine here; sent to both Lagos & Abuja.

Sent: Wednesday,
To: Consular, Abuja
Subject: Notification of Intent.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to notify the embassy of an update in my travel plans. I have a B1/B2 visa which was renewed via the drop box service in February. I am pregnant and we have decided to have our baby in the USA. I have contacted an hospital in the USA for this purpose and we have adequate finances to cover all expenses.

I understand my visa covers for this purpose but would like to request you kindly update my records to reflect this development  in my travel plans. Also please advise if there is any other thing i would need to know or do.

Yours sincerely,

I got two responses, the Lagos own was harsh like kilode!! so I discarded with the quickness & went with the Abuja.

Dear Madam,

Thank you for your notification. Before you travel to the United States to have a child you should make the appropriate preparations, including an appointment with a healthcare provider, detailed information about where you will receive your medical services, and an estimate of the financial costs. Immigration officials may ask for this information upon your arrival.  Healthcare in the United States is expensive.  Costs associated with child birth are high and can escalate quickly if there are complications. You are expected to pay all costs associated with the medical services received.  Retain an itemized statement of account from your healthcare provider that outlines all of the charges from your care and receipt of your payment.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

Best Regards,
Consular Section

Help help help

This thread has been so so helpful.

Am planning to use Dr Esparati in Elpaso because of the great reviews I read about him and his well explained site.

Am also planning to use his grace lodge because of her great reviews and all the freebies she offers like pick up at the airport amongst others.

My questions are

1.how close is his grace lodge to Dr esparati and if not close can I please get options of places I can stay..at least 5mins to the clinic.

2.my hubby might not be around on my edd as it might come earlier or later...please those that have gone through this how easy was it been alone in the hospital and back to the house alone with your baby..Am a ist timer and so so scared if I can handle alone.

Will appreciate if I can get a reply asap as I want to start making plans.

Thank you all

I'm a very recent reader and follower of this topic and il say it's been very informative. I've tried to browse through from part 1 and have learnt a lot. Discovered the link a few weeks to my visa interview and thought I was prepared till I started reading and discovered there was a lot more involved if one was going to be straight and declare the intention to give birth in the USA.

Though we did not have any intention to declare at the point of application cos we were also planning a family holiday but this thread gave me the confidence and got me prepared for the interview.

The interview date finally came n we had all the documents ready and witnessed several people leave disappointed but held on to our faith to go ahead to declare. So it finally got to our turn and all d vo asked was to confirm what we already had on our application and did not even allow us talk much.

Asked where hubby works, what he does and monthly income and also asked about our host, the relationship, how long he's known them and what they do (thankfully I had told him the day before the interview to confirm all the info) so it was a smooth response. The vo also asked where I work, how long and my monthly income and then said we can pick up our passports in a few days, all this did not last 5mins so I had to quickly add that I also have the intention of having our baby during the vacation period and went ahead to tell her I had a doctors correspondence bla bla and reached for it but she said not to bother and just asked how old the pregnancy is (which is not obvious yet except u take a very close look) and then asked what our budget was and said it was okay that we should make sure we get all our receipts and all and wished us all the best and I made sure to remind her to include it in the interview documentation.

The amazing part was that the vo did not ask us for any document and told me not to bother when I tried to reach for the doctors correspondence. Some may call it luck but i choose to call it 'grace' cos I've read about people that had all the documentation and were still denied.

I want encourage intending moms to read through the thread, learn from mistakes, prepare well and pray pray pray. Also want to thank all the contributors on this thread, you have helped a lot more people than u can imagine cos not everyone reading will ask questions or contribute. Kudos guys.

Had correspondence from Northside in Atlanta but it's about an hours drive from my in-law so it's now a no go area for now as they don't think it's wise to get a place when they are right there to take care of me and also save cost so I have between rockdale medical center and Emory eastside medical center. I would appreciate it if anyone on this thread has info on their services to help me make adecision as I did not see any info on the thread for them and also doctor referral.

Than you!!!

@Modath, U have saved me a whole day of headache...i will send ours to Abuja too then. Thank you.

Thanks y'all.

I felt really sad to see that your dw was denied renewal a second time. I wonder why this happened but to be sure I wanted to ask whether it was under section 214 that she was denied. I could have just read and moved on but I feel I would be doing you a favour to remind you of all the issues you must consider in making this decision. I'm raising the issues I'd have considered myself if I were in your shoes.

1. Is there a valid reason you cannot now remember as to why she is being denied entry? In this case you said the tune of the initial interviewer changed upon hearing that your wife was pregnant. Could it be that records about your financial history prompted the CO to conclude that you would not be able to afford delivery services in the US? Did you indicate any financial change of status in the new application?

2. A personal question. I understand that this is your first child but do you intend to have any other kids, and if so would you want to do that in the US? Could going ahead to use this visa make it difficult to get future renewals? As opposed to going somewhere else (which helps to establish trust and prove that your intentions were honest?)

3. What happens if you're turned back at the POE, are you prepared to bear any losses you may make?

4. Are you truly prepared for any financial situation that may come up during this period? ( knowing that if a situation arises where you cannot afford some services it would definitely be a huge issue in the future.)

5. In the event that your wife is stamped in only for the duration of the Visa validity, would you return back to Naija for the birth or try to apply for an extension while there( which may mean future trouble.

6.what do you think a border officer who is privy to the records from your last two interviews would think when you're at the POE? Is there a chance that he'll also realise you're trying to enter for the same purpose? ( cos if you say she was denied primarily for the reason of the pregnancy, when you mention it at the border what reaction can he/she have?)

7. What is the implication of being denied entry after being denied renewal twice?

I really pray that your desires to have this child in the US come to pass but I also want you to be sure that you're making the best decision that still leaves you eligible for future renewals.

All my questions above are what I'd have asked myself if I were in the same shoes. Eventually I'd have gone ahead to have the baby elsewhere, not in Nigeria (because I know it'll strengthen my case when I apply with a future pregnancy). Haven't said everything on my mind cos it's too long, but you get my drift. I really truly wish you the very best.
