I'm not bitter, what I gave and what I got is not the issue here. There is nothing wrong in giving a buddy a used item but packaging a fairly used outdated item for VAL's present is what I find strange.

No one is complaining about the money or costs. That money could have gotten a new phone (not necessarily an iPhone). The same money could have also gotten a brand new Gucci wristwatch or something.
