My Hyundai Santa fe 2002 started giving knocking sounds 1 month after i discovered that the engine ran out of oil due to bad engine oil switch/indicator connected to the engine. Although a seal is bad at the lower sump of the engine and I have always procrastinated to fix it. Anyways, I managed to drive it down to a place close to my house but the engine went off totally and refused to start.

My mechanic has checked it and concluded that the engine has knocked, and some major things are affected.

Do you advise i buy a new engine or buy the parts to assemble back my engine? and do you have any contact who can advise on the price of an engine for the named vehicle?

you are better off with a new engine. Try and replace do not fix, if you do not have the money park the car.

Not an expert but I believe Toyota. It's economical - Fuel wise, maintenance. Also good resale value.

Nissan is not bad too. But I don't like their cars. Toyota DashBoards too are ugly.

Runex and allex is the same thing no difference just change of name at the back .
The same body parts.
They are coupled in south Africa
And mostly right handed not same with Nigeria.
Its a cool car tho
In Nigerian currency it is not more than 1mill

Honda Accord is good. You can get its generic parts from Autozone if your mechanic doesn't ask for OEM.

Hello All,

My car`s transmission seems not to be engaging the second gear. I noticed this yesterday when the car revs so high when its trying to pick up speed with a very sluggish movement. Although the transmission fluid is still at the right level, at a point the ATF light on the dashboard came uon and I added a little more ATF but the problem still persisted. I also observed that where the road is free and am able to keep my leg on the accelerator, the vehicle revs so high for a while and eventually engages another gear which makes me to believe that its skipping the 2nd gear and moving to 3. When I put the shift stick in D2, the vehicle moves normally except that it cannot go beyond a certain speed around 60-80km/hr and the sound of the engine is quite high.

The first auto mechanic I met said its the transmission filter and that it needs to be changed alongside the ATF while another guy said its the "transmission fibre" that needs to be replaced.

please i need the input of professionals in the house. Thanks.
