Please my fellow nairalanders a friend is planning on applying for a non degree post graduate course in Iowa because he has a second class lower division in mechanical engineering and no school accepts that for masters I want to know the probability that he gets the admission and if that is possible does it qualify him for a masters degree after the course? Thanks

Your cgpa is 2.25, so how many non degree credits you want to take to bring it up for graduate school admission? A lot. It's better starting over again. Also non degree is twice as expensive as degree students.

i seek permission to withdraw such generic. Just a singled out experience shared with grad students at a workshop.

Amanze, godG, bbbdd and imperioux I must thank you for the clarification.

I was almost getting the impression that besides a good source of offsetting tuition costs and other relevant bills, TA seems to have its bad sides as well.

But come to think of it, How nice will it be to see your students give positive feedback to you on how you were influential to your success!

Good review is sweet. Your next semester GA position is sure once you get a good report from your graduate coordinator.

I really don't think its possible to study B.S Nursing in the USA. They do require some docs Nursing License. My sister is also applying to one of the Sch u out up there and I must confess dia admission process is easy.

I dont understand you. Do you mean there admission process is not easy? You can apply to any nursing program without any knowledge of nursing. You can apply for the normal 4 years BSN or 15months accelerated BSN. Moreover, there are lots of nursing schools out there, both the good, the bad and the ugly.

What I mean was that if d school give me an admission without asking or request for TOEFL before And on getting to embassy and d consular asked for my TOEFL and I said it wasn't required by d school DAT gave me an admission. Will DAT not be a rejection is d consular know DAT I dont write TOEFL exam and I was given an admission.thanks

A bank statement is not a requirement for a visa interview, but you still take it along to prove you have enough money to fund your studies...why not just write it if you can. Those are supporting documents.

What I'm trying to say is: Applying for BSN may not be easy in the USA as some schs require Nursing License and the tuition fee is a little higher than other courses.
Almost all the schools u list out there have a VERY EASY admission process.

Dear Brother:

Believe me, we all need a friend like you. A friend that can go to the extent of opening a thread ( https://www.nairaland.com/2381646/need-ur-advice-aviation-related#34796602) for that pre-historic friend of his who does not have Internet access. Trust me, you are a great friend.

Brother, why not give people enough information to help you? As you can see, no one is willing to say anything. Folks have been here in the past with the same 'my friend' rhetoric only to open up later when things seemed to be getting out of hand.

It will interest you to know that the beautiful people here are always willing to help, if you give them good reasons (one being sincerity) to.

If you are this friend, please, let them know so they can help you with what they know. If you are TRULY helping a brother, tell him to come here and help himself. He will not gain much if he depends on you to relay information to him.

I wish you and/or your friend good luck.

Please can you suggest school can can accept that? He hasn't written any test yet

Your GPA, or rather your friend's GPA is minute. I don't think you said the truth about finishing with 2:2. A 2:2 translates to nothing less than a 2.5/5.0, if my memory serves me right. On a 4.0 scale, it shouldn't be as low as a 2.25 of 4.00. Pardon me if I'm rude, but you need to come out clean if you really need help. Admittedly, there are lots of gullible Nigerians that could buy your "my friend" story, but you won't find them here.

Better. I no sabi as dem dey convert percentages, but you go get admit with 56.16. It's like the grading system of some Indian schools, and I've seen a couple of them get admitted with such on gradcafe.

Log on to WES's website: https://www.wes.org/
Use the free CGPA calculator tool on the website.
If it falls within a range >2.5, contact WES for an official evaluation.

There are schools that would definitely grant you admission (having aced the standardized tests ofcourse,) you just need to conduct your research well. Many schools use a holistic approach in making admission decisions. While a not-so-great GPA could hurt your chances, less emphasis could be placed on it if you ace your tests very well.

You could also contact prospective schools and explain your situation to them.

Good luck!

Great analysis Stolid!
Naija and Honesty, two big enemies! Sometimes I am forced to think that we will never move this country forward if we keep wanting cheap things at any cost.
I must say that, before I joined this thread I was reluctant to give out information that I considered sensitive about myself..... But I decided to read through some of the previous posts and found valuable info that showed logical consistency and were experientially relevant.....

What I am saying in essence is that I appreciate every contribution on this thread (I mean everything posted by everyone) and I am not reluctant to ask any question that I consider pressing on my mind because I can trust people here.

So I wonder why wine4guy will choose to be dishonest when dealing with people who are willing to help him/her.

Additionally, this is for people like me still seeking admission and visa:
Honestly I am thrilled at how people who already have started their studies give regular meaning contributions to this thread without being paid by anyone or having nothing to gain from an anxious applicant who need vital info
