If you have a lot of existing roads to rehabilitate, why construct new once with the meager resources you have? A wise man puts to good use what he has 1st before acquiring new once. All over world, roads are mostly rehabilitated and not new roads constructed. The only reason your midget used to be pastor turned puppet is coming up with this is to debunk what Fashola said about GEJ. I guess the chief puppeteer Tinubu made your vp came up with this even if it had to be in the church if not what is the relationship between the subject matter and new road construction? Now that apc has been in power for almost one year, how many new roads have they started? Common budget has continue to linger on with different shameful controversies. The essense of new roads is for easier accessibility, decongestion and development of local areas.

Another good example of a new road is the benin Bypass. Which was a brand new road....with that road...motorists dont need to congest the already congested benin city, wasting hours in traffic gridlocks. The simply ply the new road to avoid benin entirely.

u r clearly muddling things up here. make I help u.....musa yardua road dt leads to abuja airport was existing b4. it was only expanded to 8 lanes.oshodi apapa road too was expanded,abuja lokoja road used to be a single lane,it was just dualized.suleja kubwa road which I know since 2003 ooo has been there,it was expanded also till u get to A.Y.A (asokoro).i know abit of kano too bt I am not familiar with maiduguri roads. my work involves travelling;inspecting n construction power projects.

Today I have confirmed the true meaning and existence of educated illiterates. Several people on here genuinely do not know the difference between building a NEW road and rehabilitating/patching an OLD existing road. It's truly a shame!

I drove through Abuja-Lokoja road for the first time in 2004, at least I am sure that road has existed even before I was born. How do Nigerian graduates/undergrads not even know the meaning of the word 'new'?.... in terms of dualisation, work on that road has been ongoing since OBJ's days and it's still not been completed till date. So how on earth does anyone think it is a 'new' road built by GEJ?... Or is it Apapa oshodi?... a 'new' road?... God help us!

The benin bypass is a good example of a new road. And I believe it was built and launched in 2002 under OBJ.

Trying hard to sound intelligent but you only expose your ignorance. The VP may have made the statement for the sake of politics but every sensible person knows he is not lying at least. And did you just imply it is not possible or sensible to build a new road?... Did you also just say it is cheaper to build a new road than repairing an old bad one?... So if it's cheaper to build a new road, why wouldnt the government just build brand new ones side-by-side instead of patching bad spots on old roads?

An example of a new road was the benin bypass built by OBJ which cuts out about 2hrs from the journey of travelers as they avoid the benin city traffic. Jonathan could have built a new road if he actually built the 2nd Niger bridge because that would help travellers completely avoid the mad onitsha traffic.

A simple advice, stop exposing your ignorance by trying to insult the VP.

Just like you and I, we all have a right to free speech. The VP stating that no new roads were built does not mean he is not going to do his job. But then, you have no right to take away his right to free speech.

Those roads particularly the Benin-Ore road drank the blood during OBJ's time. I remember when Diezani Allison-Madueke as minister of works under OBJ wept on seeing the condition of that road without her principal doing anything. Do I need to remind you that GEJ fixed the road?

GEJ fixed a portion of the road, just the same way OBJ fixed a portion of the same road. A large portion of the road is still bad till date, kudos however to GEJ for fixing a really bad portion and saving travellers a lot of headache. It is meaningless however to say GEJ fixed the road and then castigate OBJ at the same time. If you think GEJ is a messiah for fixing that bad portion, I wonder what you will say about OBJ who constructed the benin bypass (brand new, not patching) which cuts off roughly 2-3 hours of benin city traffic for travellers on the same road. The 2015 election propaganda has really distorted the arguments of many to the point of erroneously thinking GEJ is a god and OBJ a devil.

Okene-Benin is a new road taking you away from the hustle and bustle of Okene Town. If that is not a new road, then please try to define what a new road is? It is a by-pass just like the Benin interchange...

A new functional road would be like the one new Ibadan/Ilesha road, which allowed individuals coming down Ife/ibadan road to go toward Ilesha without going through Ife.

A new road like the lekki/epe road


Like the second Niger bridge, or the East West road
