LadyExcellency:That was a specialized and costly operation( they paidy an additional insurance premium in case the costly equipment went down) that operation by the way did not require a port at the time. There is a place for water transport in our economy which I champion but decisions should be rational and cost effective not emotive or egotistic. I do not see that as the most cost effective way of importing inputs for the Brewery in Anambra state e.g . |

Liberty90:but you ARE land locked. The RIver Niger goes all the way through Kwara and Niger states which are landlocked just like you. The river changes nothing |

AustineE1:Nice thought. My fear is northerners will call him soon and warn him to dissist from going on with it or else. Hope he stays strong because I know deep in my heart that this project will be abandoned very soon like Akwa Ibom Ibaka and Onitsha River port. We SS and SE still don't understand that the systematic marginalization of SS and SE. There is a reason why Calabar, Rivers and Warri ports are not functional...it's not by happenstance, it's a well calculated plan to ensure that SE and SS isn't economically independent as having a functional ports will ensure that. Our people don't get this! |

omonnakoda:the headline is wrong...from what I can see this is just construction of road leading to the site and not the actual construction of the port..i doubt that one has been started |

daretodiffer:I won't say it is wasteful because we don't really know what he is doing. I know he is not building a PORT Those who think otherwise should examine the State Budget for this year and see whether a port is mentioned there and at what cost. People waste a lot of time in school but cannot think or ask questions. He presented a budget for 98 billion Naira this year so it would be interesting to know what he is building and for how much |

omonnakoda:Keep consoling the hate and envy in you. Go and read about proposed Obuaku seaport and proximity to the sea. How you Yorubas carry Igbo success for head tire me...this one done pass hatred. Igbos be careful around this wicked people ! |

Liberty90:You can resort to all the blackmail you like it won't change the map. Iboland is not on the sea. Even Port Harcourt port is not on the Sea. It is an inland port so what are we talking about |

I will personally invest my hard earned money in this project if they open it up for private investors. I am going to buy land there soon. I will keep monitoring how things are going. |

omonnakoda:is Lagos seaport on the sea? |
| Re: Ikpeazu starts Work On Obuaku-River Port by omonnakoda: 12:47pm On Feb 28, 2016 |
betterABIAstate:Pretty much. The Harbour opens into the sea less than a mile so there is no comparison with PH which is more than 20 miles from the sea Port Harcourt port is a RIVER Port. One is fresh water the other is salt water |
| Re: Ikpeazu starts Work On Obuaku-River Port by betterABIAstate(op): 12:49pm On Feb 28, 2016 |
omonnakoda:the fact remains that Lagos seaport is on the lagoon and not the sea. |

Liberty90:I don't believe it has to do with the North. Our leaders are not passionate and inventive about development Our leaders are like Buhari |
| Re: Ikpeazu starts Work On Obuaku-River Port by EteEdoho: 12:57pm On Feb 28, 2016 |
daretodiffer:If an entire geopolitical zone that is over 40million in population, with the highest number of classical business and investment oriented individuals does not have need for a seaport,i begin to wonder who will need it most. Must Igbo people depend on Lagos for port?. |
| Re: Ikpeazu starts Work On Obuaku-River Port by asha80(m): 1:00pm On Feb 28, 2016 |
HiddenShadow:like what Arthur eze surprisingly said http://elendureports.com/n/business-2/igbo-politicians-undermining-south-east-devt-arthur-eze/ |
| Re: Ikpeazu starts Work On Obuaku-River Port by HiddenShadow: 1:01pm On Feb 28, 2016 |
asha80:Undermining is not the best word to use They are just self-centered and brainless like Buhari |
| Re: Ikpeazu starts Work On Obuaku-River Port by omonnakoda: 1:04pm On Feb 28, 2016 |
betterABIAstate:You are ignorant What is the definition of Lagoon. I suggest you check it out. Even if the port was on the Lagoon in this case it would still be on the sea BUT it is outside the lagoon on the sea To the LEFT Actually Lagos can comfortably hold 10 more ports. The ships come in and out with little fear of piracy and a quick turnaround

You ain't making any sense either. Information on the said project proved that previous administration has carried out studies on the issues on the project. Why are you complaining. I learnt Aragbe built airport, thats an example of waste of scarce resource. BTW,their abound many river ports and artificial water ways/canal ports across the globe. Example Panama canal. A click on google will surely help u. omonnakoda: |

omonnakoda:We have other sites for such tourism projects. Obuaku is the Sea gateway for Igboland, and is Destined for that role in the future. ![]() The Igbo fixation with an Igbo controlled and located Sea/ River port is not far fetched. It's a necessity for an economically and politically independent Igbo nation. |
| Re: Ikpeazu starts Work On Obuaku-River Port by EteEdoho: 1:09pm On Feb 28, 2016 |
omonnakoda:more reason why we need true federalism. You don't know the politics associated with port development and their usage in Nigeria. |
| Re: Ikpeazu starts Work On Obuaku-River Port by omonnakoda: 1:10pm On Feb 28, 2016 |
EteEdoho:Panama canal is a River Port? You are an Ignoramus Please tell us WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE RIVER ![]() |

omonnakoda:you actually the ignorant person here, you don't need to show me maps of Lagos Port before I know its on the lagoon. Its where I have been to severally, the port is not on the sea. Please stop being obsessed for nothing. A seaport can be if you have a direct playable link to the ocean with friendly proximity. Please stop wanking over this project. |
| Re: Ikpeazu starts Work On Obuaku-River Port by Marcelini(m): 1:12pm On Feb 28, 2016 |
Anyway, I think this thread is all about Ikpeazu playing to gallery, the cost of Obuaku seaport will be too enormous for Abia state government, only a pan Igbo alliance and nationalism drive can generate the funds needed to bring it to reality, and that is currently lacking. But it's good though to know that the potentials of a future Igbo nation as represented by Obuaku gateway is limitless. |
| Re: Ikpeazu starts Work On Obuaku-River Port by omonnakoda: 1:13pm On Feb 28, 2016 |
betterABIAstate:The port is on the Sea that might be a bitter pill for you to swallow but there it is on the MAP |
| Re: Ikpeazu starts Work On Obuaku-River Port by omonnakoda: 1:16pm On Feb 28, 2016 |
Marcelini:But you cannot dredge the River Niger as you would like without the consent of those upstream and downstream. That is a selfish aspiration. No one will forget the devastating flood that swept Nigeria 3 or 4 years ago in a hurry. That dredging idea is NOT GOING TO HAPPEN An independent Ibo nation will still need the permission of Nigeria for ships to pass the mouth of Nigeria through Rivers or Bayelsa State. |

. I think the blame should also go to our students and higher institutions. They are in better positions to come out and challenge mo.ronic projects and educate the public.
. They just don't care about more practical and sustainable alternatives.
