How did this happen? Nothing is safe under the face of the earth. Wondering how Facebook got to have a connection to someone's bank account
Re: How I Lost Over #20000 Through My Misplaced ATM Card.. by tuscani: 12:34pm On Mar 12, 2016
You can still do something about it. Start by contacting your bank with the details. also contact face book about the transaction, then if your card is a Master or visa, you will have to contact those merchants as well.
EVEN IF SOME ONE TELL YOU THAT ALL THESE SUGGESTION WILL NOT WORK, JUST TRY THEM, AND SEE THE OUTCOME FOR YOURSELF.

Wow! I feel bad for you. The grave error you made was not blocking your ATM immediately it happened.

You are really not smart. See all your details here.

Exactly what I want to point out.... He is adding insult to the injury he sustained.
By sharing his transaction details.

Sigh.... just want to share this as a way to help some of us to always take due precaution at all instance....

It all started last week friday when I travelled down to ibadan to attend a meeting on behalf of my work-place.. While in the city I misplaced my wallet via a taxi I boarded which contain(wallet) few thousands of naira, my 2 ATM cards, id cards, and my business cards..

Got back to lagos and continued work... Had intentin to visit the bank to request for a new card but I was still of the opinion that the supposedly "good samaritan" who will be in possession of the wallet will contact me to return it since I have all my details in it.. but it was the opposite; as on wednesday I got an alert of a debit of about 4k for a facebook transcation at first I thought it was from my personal facebook account; sent a mail to facebook but they told me it wasnt connected to my account.. so was supposed to go to the bank to make the complain but workload at work was heavy on me so I couldnt visit the bank not until thursday morning when I saw two consecutive debits that was when I realised I was been exploited; asked for permission and went straight ahead to the bank, on getting to the banking hall saw another about 5k debit, calmly told the customer care representative to block my account but she said I will have to write a letter to that effect first... chai, I yelled uncontrollably at her trying to explain what happened thats when she quickly blocked the account first which after I wrote the letter...

Now in all the supposedly thief got away with about 22k, could be more than that if I had waited even for few seconds all due to my negligence... So in all, lesson learnt for me already and lesson to everyone; always do well to BLOCK your ATM card(s) if misplaced for any reason...

Lastly, a freind was telling me that I can trace the facebook account.. Dont know if anybody knows how that work. Thanks......

Not all online transactions require the use of OTP or secure code. Especially when you have the card number and the 3 digits at the back of the card.

Report the transaction to Facebook. Tell them that that transaction ID was made via your stolen credit card. Facebook will definitely do the needful.

U would have been ripped more if there was more cash in your account. Don't pile up too much cash in an account which has an atm card or online access.

Coincidentally, your card fell into the hands of a person that probably knows you.

Or it fell into the hands of a person gifted at making right guesses.

Or fell into the hands of a desperado who tried your card thrice every day before hitting the jackpot eventually!!!

Bruh, contact facebook by phone, the will put you through to the billing department or fraud department, once they verify you the real owner of the debit card, they surely will suspend the facebook account of who ever might have use ur card for those transaction n most time issue a refund. Depends on what product that was purchased, if purchase are for apps, then u might not be able to get a refund caz its a third-party, but if the purchase are for facebook credits, facebook will diff issue a refund.

Most foreign transactions doesn't require your Pin, its only Nigerian sites that require it most times. Only few ask for OTP.
A site like Amazon doesn't even require your security code (That 3 digit no's at the back of your card). Your Card no, Expiry date & name on card will do.
In summary, keep your Card details secret. The card no, Expiry date, Name on card & the 3 digit no at the back is enough for someone to empty your account.

You wasted too much time. I once forgot my wallet with some money and ATM,I was on the bike when I realized.Right on the bike I quickly drafted and sent a mail to same Access bank customer center. Not up to 5 mins later on getting home I received a call from female CC asking me what I wanted, and I replied to block the card immediately. All these happened on a Friday evening. You had an internet enabled phone you should have called them or sent a mail immediately.

Sorry about that OP.

But next time when posting private images to a public fora like this, try and use image editing tools to shield sensitive information from visibility like your full name seen up there.

Finally also have internet banking with at least 2 banks or at most use quickteller to transfer any funds out of the account that's linked to any stolen ATM. You should have done the transfer immediately you got home from your trip or there and then with mobile internet banking.

My 2 cents.

Not in all cases. Just card number, expiry date, the number at the back.

Some bad boys also have something they use on ATMs to record and steal PIN of card users. Trust me, they can get your PIN too.
